From the moment you meet Tharj, her entire personality is baby-grade yandere directed at the Avatar. A couple of her supports branch away from this, but since EVERYBODY gets supports in Awakening and half of Tharja's are still "fuck it, I'll use your dick until MU-kun notices me" they can't pin down any one character arc to work with. Thus her core flavor text and event quotes are still "I want MU's dick" and "huu huu, hexes for everybody else".
For example, I married her to Libra on my first run. Cool support, interesting contrast between them... then Libra gets killed holding the line while everyone busts out of Plegia for the last time, and a couple chapters later I fire up the summer DLC map. Lo and behold, Tharja spends the entire event talking about nothing but her desire for MU's genitalia because that's what IS wrote her into the game to do.
It doesn't help that her character design is also bland pandering of the worst kind, but that's just modern anime leaking into Fire Emblem's deep and srs fantasy epic adventure story.

Of course, none of this is relevant to why /feg/ hates her, because Tharjafag doesn't factor silly things like personality or character development into his brain's holding pattern. That would take time away from refreshing the catalog, searching for images to spam, and wagging his finger at people telling him to shut the hell up and stop posting the same collection of meaningless shit every thread for another year straight.

Eh, I kinda chalk that up to being a last minute addition to the game. He doesn't really have much place to develop his character outside of his paralogue and 1 support; the other paralogue recruits at least had the benefit of having a presence in the story. Currently he's not much outside of being a rough guy who could've been the last reference to Ike that isn't from smash bros, but I kinda see potential for him to become a proper character given time to develop.

Also, he reminds me alot of Papa Nier. Same voice actor, same rough look and attitude...I just really like Papa Nier.
