I'd say it depends on his B skill. If you're going for WoM, buffs can actually be great on him, since he's placing himself next to at least one ally who will benefit from it. Then it depends on what your team needs.
If he's using Vantage though, then I'd go with Threaten Defence. You've already landed an attack on the opponent and survived if the Threaten has activated, so you might as well soften them up some more to finish

At first I wasn't really feeling Xander as a unit since he is a 3* and I don't have the feathers to bump him up, but seeing him survive so much with his huge defence stat and then tanking even more with Horse Memes behind him, how can I not love using him. Nice IV, +atk is really solid on him. You can slap a Brave Axe+ and Death Blow on him to make him a hypermobile heavy green physical damage / wall unit. He's similar to a Brave Lance Lukas or Brave Axe Cherche.

I have a +Spd Olwen and I think probably the best way to use her is quadmemes with a 3-charge special like Iceberg or Luna that activates every single fight.

Something like Dire Thunder - Reposition - Luna/Iceberg - Life and Death - Wings of Mercy/Desperation/-breaker - Cav buff/Threaten Res/Threaten Speed.

I think that's pretty much an ideal IV for a Brave Axe+ build for him, since his speed at that point is so abysmal anyway. He's actually rather well-optimized for it at that point.

I'd definitely recommend it, I would go for it if I had access to a Fred with those IVs. Sadly mine's just +def -spd.

Either way he's a lot of fun, obliterates things on offense and can tank a lot of (physical) damage on enemy phase. Just don't let a wizard get the jump on him and he'll treat you right.

She is. If you do have a Blarblade to work it, Ursula should be good anyway. She has slightly higher attack but slightly less speed than Olwen. However, she has inherent Death Blow, so she should be able to kill things anyway. It's something to consider.

Would Desperation be a good B skill for Titania? 40 speed after Hone Cavalry is pretty good. She'll have 44 once I have a goad running too and I can always use Reciprocal Aid to put her in Desperation range.

Why people say that Fates is shit game and worst FE and such?

I started playing with Awakening, really liked it, finished it and its DLCs after around 90 hours of total gameplay time and now Im playing Fates, Birthright, 50 hours passed, Chapter 19 and doing children recruitment chapters. And Im having as much, maybe even more fun.

It have variety of maps, "class jumping" isnt really viable or pushed, yet you still can think over partner seals and similar solutions (its just that you dont have to make everyone know 4 same skills to be useful), weapon system works nicely (in the end, everyone was aiming for Armshift anyway in Awakening so Im glad that weapon durability is gone, replaced by debuffs for stronger weapons).

Overall, it feels really nice. So why so much dislike?

Generally speaking, yes. On units with middle-tier speed (28-34) speed is more important than attack because there are so many units that won't be able to double you with that extra speed. Units with low speed like Sophia, Hector or Lukas want speed the least. HP is worse than Def or res on glass cannons like Linde because you want to be below the 40 hp ardent sacrifice desperation trigger range.

Because it's different and popular. Old FE gameplay panders to a very specific and autisitc kind of player and that gameplay is very different from that of the newer games. You'll understand once you try the older titles.

I personally started with awakening and enjoyed it a lot but after playing older games i tried BR(which is supposed to be an improved Awakening) and i didn't like it as much despite kind of enjoying the experience(I still haven't finished BR because my autism doesn't let me enjoy any of the translations/patches it currently has).

I played only played Conquest, but every chapter felt like a huge chore. Gameplay is rewarding but not rewarding enough for me to want to continue. I was more interested in building up my castle than seeing the story develop.

I really like both the premise and aesthetic for this game, but the plot boils down to "conquer innocent kingdom do your not dad can sit in a chair". The fact that pretty much all units are retainers that you just get for free without having to find and recruit, and the fact that each game only has HALF the classes available to it is fucking stupid.

I was also pissed off at the recycling of Awakening child units as primary characters in this game, that's blatant laziness and fanservice.

I've been playing since FE7, I liked Awakening a lot, but I have to say it's the least interesting FE I've played since Shadow Dragon. Maybe Birthright or Revelations are better but I can't speak to that.

Conquest chapter 23
What I first do is fly with Camilla and Niles up to rallyman to capture him with iffy reliability and trigger the reinforcements
I put my Great Knight squad of Xander, Effie, and Silas up front with the rest of my units (shit, except for Leo who's just frail) behind them. I wait for the MOAs to come to me then kill them, taking care to stay put of the range of the initial enemies. Now, the problem. I have no idea how to approach the initial enemies! There's too many, it's overwhelming. Xander can wreck most of them, but those Basaras can put a dent in him with magic. Effie dies really quickly, and Silas can't take a hit for shit. Camilla has to worry about archers, Leo can't be in range of anything, my Avatar got screwed hard by RNG, Felicia and Flora can take Basaras but nothing else, Flora gets doubled, Kumeraga gets doubled, it's a mess.

Am i the only one konda bummed out about the fact that Fire Emblem Heroes has little to no crossover elements whatsoever?

The only time characters from the games talked to/about each other was in the Blazing Blade chapter with Eliwood asking Alfonse's army if they met Future!Roy, kinda confirming all units from that game are post-game. (Eliwood only names his son after the time skip), so, maybe some converstaions between heroes and canonically dead chaaracters could also be interesting.


Hell, i hope Warriors has some more crestivity with this.

Lucina taliing with Marth, Hector being protective with Lilina with Roy, Alm/Lucina/Marth/Chrom Falchion royale, Confusing what a fire emblem is, Roy and Corrin both having a sword that covers itself with fire, etc.

I think Awakening DLC had some very specific crossover quotes.

For example, Marth and Lucina in Rouges and Reddemers.

But since those guys were nothing but cards, it doesnt really matter.

Sadly, i cant really think of some funny interesting interactions in other games outside of the elibe ones, Zephiel fighting a Prime Hector, Funny dialogue with Hector not letting Eoy get close to Lilina, Knowing what happens to Lyn, etc.

That's the problem though, everyone says you need good ranged units to do anything in this game, so I wanted to get Takumi. It probably helps explain why I've been so terrible at this game, as I've had zero luck rolling any good ranged units whatsoever. These are my ranged.

On a flier team with one Hone and double Goads she can one shot the more annoying archer threats with ravens(not even ravens+ or Triangle Adept is needed). +Spd reaches 39 speed before A skill is applied, +Atk guarantees nuking even more blue and colorless targets in 1-2 hits.

If you have a Hone+Fortify the blade tome setup with a single goad is probably even more devastating though, I have yet to roll a spare Caeda to burn on one of my auxillary fliers so I haven't bothered yet since that would require putting Caeda on my team.

I rarely ever have a problem dealing with Ryoma, Azura can pull some nasty shit if you're not in a position to one shot the other three units on her team though. On a team with all 4 of them, Cavmeme Blarblade Ursula or Reinhardt can take out the non-Hectors, but a token red is needed for the 4th. I have yet to rank up Xander or Eliwood so I've been using Ike for that since I needed a bonus unit.
