Once the Nexus is fixed and working at full capacity, they could eventually withdraw from risky planets and settle on more life-friendly ones without being under the constant risk of resource depletion, thanks to the Nexus.

Sure, on the long run, it may prove risky once the population on a planet is too high to be withdrawn, but until then, there's a chance the Remnant tech is understood and useable.
