So the Void came to when the corrupted Warriors of Light started feeding on aether, which drained the mirror-Hydaelyn to death and ushered in Darkness, and this Darkness can coalesce into a giant creature. A literal world of Darkness with no life.
But with the Warriors of Darkness, their world would have just been pure Light obliterating everything and something about souls not being able to enter the lifestream? So with Darkness you get a desolete world, while voidsent aren't actually born from it, but with Light it's just a limbo.
