It's the first time I feel like nostalgia has blinded me. However I must say the atmosphere of the first game is much superior with all the shit going on in the background and cool settings.
Sadly, multiplayer campaign, multiple titan OS voices, first person animations, burncards and regenerating shields in TF2 never ever.
Also, this shit made me miss my Mr. Skeltal even though I prefer Ronin loadout in literally every single way and I wished for titan shotgun in the first game before TF2 was released.
I really wish they would add more titan OS voices.

From what I understand, TF1 does have a different tone from TF2. The Titans are treated more like military workhorses than these grand war machines that can marginally think for themselves. The Pilot power fantasy, while still present, wasn't as pronounced as it is in TF2. It also helps that the TF2 campaign is a much more concise story, just one narrative in the entire war (although a rather big one).

Stim is definitely the easier of the two to use, especially if you have good route around the map. Plus the healing is nice in a pinch. Grapple has a lot more utility, but takes more practice to be consistent with. Go with whatever you feel like, both are good.

Grapple has a lot more versatility, Stim is just a get out of slow free button
You can achieve high speeds with both, maybe a good bit faster with grapple launches but the main thing is how much you can do with grapple when you get the hang of it
Only thing you'll be missing out on without stim is eject strafing

It's plenty fast, it just doesn't hand it to you on a silver fucking platter like TF2 does. You have to actually bunnyhop instead of slide hopping, and the maps are more complicated than "3 lanes you press your tactical down", so you need to know the routes. Ziplines are also very useful for going fast.

The only "anti-fast" thing is that the weapons aren't laser beams from hipfire, which means you actually have to ADS.

Crazy idea: Don't waste all your energy at once. Even then, fanning the Shield and just poking with the Splitter Rifle are more than viable on their own, and the 5 way splitter is stronger than just Laser Shots anyway.

I know it can be fast but even then if you go fast in TF1 it's still feels slower than going fast in TF2, I agree that maps are designed much better in TF1, both functionally and visually.
Titans suck in TF1, they are supposed to be some scary war machines and yet a single pilot can fuck them up without any effort.

Wallrunning and stuff in TF1 feels slower, but I don't think it actually is. Stim and grapple make Tf2 faster than TF1 but those are tacs that aren't available at all times. TF1 still feels more, i dunno, graceful? It's a lot easier to keep speed when you get it and airstrafing and eject strafing both work so much better in 1. It feels much more fluid in 1 as opposed to 2 where you seem to be constantly starting and stopping.

Disembark and fuck em up. That's one of my main problems with Tf2. Everything is served to you out of a fucking tin. Turrets to shoot for you, cores that kill for you, hard set titans, Tacs being a power button instead of a skill augment, etc.

Also, I fucking miss Stryders with mid range loadouts. I miss the chaingun and the old shotgun. I miss phase shift not fucking existing. I miss pilot models that didn't look like shit. I miss the sexy asses. Now I'm depressed.

I got the trial a few weeks back because I never was able to play it before.
Wall running felt a bit slower velocity wise, but in general mobility it felt a lot better, hopping from wall to wall was a lot better because the large boost you got when you jumped sideways while wallrunning felt noice. And the bunnyhopping felt like a much greater way to maintain my momentum. I liked that smg's weren't laser death pointers and you actually had to ads over half the time to be accurate. Titans felt like tissue paper unless you were a dash happy stryder. Damn arc cannon and cluster missiles were like a chainsaw too Styrofoam.

40mm cannon, XO-16, quad rocket, and arc cannon all obliterate pretty much any pilot in sight.

If a pilot hops onto you, you can cluster trick like the meta scum that you are, or just hop out immediately and shoot them, you won't lose much HP. You do it when you hear them clanking around outside, NOT when the warning shows up. I liked the pilot/titan balance much better in TF1, titans have a very easy time destroying pilots (especially considering how slow they can be) but pilots can do a lot of damage given the right opportunity.

I think the balance between titans and pilots is in a fairly good spot right now. They can still do a lot of damage and harassing, but getting rodeo'd isn't a death sentence like it was in 1. And even though we don't have designated pilot killing weapons like the chaingun (yet), enough practice with a titan weapon can be more than enough to wipe up pilots left and right.

What the other guy said. Roll through the campaign. In addition to being a nice preview of weapons and titan kits it's also a really good campaign. If you're at all decent at shooters outright avoid the Alternator, Devotion, R97, and G2. These are the shitter ezmode weapons. If you're not good at shooters feel free to use them, but they won't help you get any better. Every other weapon is more or less well balanced. Grenadiers are tfg's weapons of choice because they're projectile and satisfying as fuck; but don't sweat using them right off the bat. they take a bit of practice unless you're a religious tribes player or were since before hirez fucking killed it

If you join the network, no RDDT. You will be kicked and laughed at. That's the only rule, follow abide by that and everything's chill funtimes. RDDT is the ingame tag for the main Reddit network, we also don't like PCMR which is a subreddit

Videos in the pastebin on how to go fast, pay special attention to Shiggy's grapple video. The game has a steep learning curve, absolute first thing you should do in multiplayer is learn to slide hop https://a.pomf.cat/wutlwk.webm You get that down and you're already better than 99% of rddt. Practice movement first, it all flows from there.

Last thing: It's your experience, you bought the game. Enjoy it. And if you feel like disregarding me and using the shitter weapons? Go for it. I only mentioned not to use them because they're huge crutches. You do you, whatever makes the game fun for you.

My understanding of the Fold Weapon is that it creates gravitational waves that travel through four dimensional space across the Einstein-Rosen bridge, which acts as a sort of lens to focus them to target. Solid matter, people, etc, can't travel through the fourth dimension and as such would be annihilated trying to cross the wormhole.

Either Marder is rogue or Spyglass is rogue. Vinson and Apex are just mercs being paid for by Marder, they can be considered under Marder for this purpose.

I personally lean towards Marder being rogue. I doubt blowing up valuable planets and committing literal genocide using ancient artifacts that nobody understands how they work or what the ramifications of using them are would sit well with the suits at home. Regardless of the moral ramifications you're destroying trillions' worth of investment. The IMC is fighting a war for resources, after all.

Spyglass, by comparison, outranks Marder (Commander In Chief; Frontier Forces > General) and just seems to be in a holding pattern, keeping the fleet operational while awaiting Core Systems reinforcements.

The other possibility is that Spyglass is considered rogue as the IMC brass do not like tactical AI promoting itself to the highest ranking position outside of the core systems.

memes aside don't allow yourself to rely on "crutches" i.e. weapons that are too powerful/too easy. SMGs (hitscan) require almost no aimimg and have far too long a range. Ion and tone are too good at everything. If you use these crtuches too much/too often you'll never really git gud at this game and quit too soon.
By going fast you can use memeguns like the mastiff or grenade launchers to dominate the game. Going slow (using a-wall, or cloak) will get you little to no kills because the game isn't designed for slow combat. Phase is a crutch becuase it's essentially a get out of jail free card and sucks the fun out of every game. Stim is the beginners method to going fast. Grapple is the step up from stim and can allow you to navigate the battle field very fast (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cviVhtoAiME). Pulse blade and Holo can be very useful but do take some skill to use effectively. Also learn to bunnyhop.
In tfg there is an unwritten rule to go fast and use memeguns. Take your time to develop the skills to be good at the game. There's no rush.

Other thing is with titans all the retards will say every titan is op because they suck, Ion>tone are the strongest and scorch is the weakest but if you are good you will rape people still. pretty much. wall hang should be low profile. Mostly grenades are a matter of preference but satchel is the current "memenade". some think that the arc grenade is op (instantly kills speed). I personally like the grav star/fire star depending on the loadout.

"tfg approved" loadouts tend to be some of the more difficult ones to master. No one cares what you use during pub matches but come happy hour you should be using "tfg approved" loadouts. I'd say while you're learning the mechanics of the game use whatever you please heck I used CAR until I was ~level 35. as I said theres no need to rush.
