I have a friend who ended two seasons in a row as gold 5, had some really bad placement matches and got placed into bronze this season. he got a new job and has been super busy so doesn't have the time to climb back up. granted he's really bad and probably doesn't deserve to be gold, but he's not as bad as the players in his games and definitely doesn't belong there. but he'll probably end the season in high bronze or low silver.

if you get out of practice it can be hard to carry the weight that is shitty bronze players.
