I just unlocked the Selb 1906 sniper. I didn't think there was a point to it over the Mondragon, but I kinda like the faster firing speed. Need a bit more time to see if I like it. Anyone else tried it yet?

None of the 5 shot SLRs besides maybe the RSC (and even that is awful) shouldn't be seriously used, because despite having fantastic 1v1 potential, BF1 isn't a 1v1 game

Seems alright with a scope on it for larger maps. But then again, the Mondragon having double the ammo also makes it better to just go nuts in case someone closes in. Probably right, though. 5 shot is only good for bolt action where you can kill in 1-2 hits.

I got one yesterday. It was a horse, not a tank though, and since I didn't expect the horse to set it off I didn't bail, so I got blown up with it.

Still, first kill after a couple days of trying, so I'm happy. I think I'm finally starting to get the hang of how fast to ram the bike into the crates to land the mines properly.

If you are worried about cqc just unzip the bulldog on people. Personally even though I feel it's perfectly balanced I wouldn't say no to a bump up to 17.5 damage per shot minimum so that it gets a long range 6 shot on centre mass.

It's not the CQC that's a problem, the Benet-Mercie exists and I love using that

Shit velocity, shit mag capacity, absolute worst minimum damage is what makes the leaf gun so frustrating to use. If they tweaked any of those, then it would actually be a strong contender with the Benet-Mercie for mid to long range, which I assume is the niche DICE wants the Huot to occupy

Don't know what your platform is, but on PS4 I've only had 2 or 3 occasions where a squadmate has actually been talking about the game.

Mostly if someone has a mic (rare in itself) you're just getting them screaming at their mom or talking to someone on the phone.

I think party chat is to blame for the lack of communication.

they just need to add class limits on official servers
almost every single operation game I join has like 12-15 scouts per team, some games are just ruined because people are shit
if you didnt properly use your gadgets, capped or defended an objective, got kills in x amount of time, you're locked out of scout for the rest of the game.
its not going to happen tho. I expected something good with the patch but literally nothing change, I guess thats how it is with 'aaa' releases nowadays, who are we to expect proper support right

I don't get all the hate for the Huot. I'm using it right now to unlock the optical version, and shit can drive nails at 100m or more. I'm out-sniping snipers with this shit.

There's something I can't put my finger on about BF1 that somehow makes it inferior to BF4 specifically in regards to defensive playstyle. Some of my fondest memories of BF4 were holding onto a point with my squad and often staying alive for 10-15 minutes just holding a crucial point that no one else really bothered with. I don't have any of those same experiences in BF1.

I can't tell if it's the destruction system being too extreme and turning most points into coverless areas that cannot be defensively fortified, if it's the time to kill being too low making engagements feel unfulfilling, or if it's the horrible conquest point system that turns most maps into roaming 25+ people deathballs who go from cap to cap farming points because there is 0 reward to actually defending a point.

Maybe it's a combination of it all, but tell me I'm not crazy for thinking this way.

You're not the only one. I had friends complain about the exact same things as well. People complain about that as well. There are talks about the old CQ coming back so you'd expect that the points for defending would make a return as well.
It also doesn't help that some of the vanilla maps + Verdun heights have some cancer flags with barely any cover.

They're doing a poor job with maps in Bf1 so far.

64 Operations is very different to conquest though. If you drive into the cap on operations you will immediately explode. And it's not camping in the back its sitting 30 meters away with a perfect view of the enemy team. I literally have no idea why people think tanks are supposed to be driven directly into a group of enemies, especially when you almost never have a full crew to man all the guns, it's just retarded and gets you killed.

DICE are really ruining their own game.

Beyond race, just think of the added playability and fun indepth customisation would bring. Imagining unlocking an Anzac hat or Ottoman fez, getting new moustache designs and different coloured tunics. And best of all each class could have its own sets of uniforms still so you could still instantly tell the class at a glance by the permanent cape or mask etc.

Also the variant system is fucking retarded. They could have just added a gun tweak system where you can modifier aspects of your fire arm or perhaps upgrade it, maybe you start with a reserve troops Lee-Enfield mark 1 and can upgrade to a MK3 over time. Or even just things like a better barrel, slicker trigger, etc. They really fucking missed an opportunity, this is the laziest BF game to date.

Also shoehorning in the previous class system is so stupid.
Instead we could have had

You're right, I forgot those factions don't have a black trooper. I just generally found it dumb that there isn't player customization. It's so obvious that the game has an agenda to push. It hits you in the teeth with the diversity bat. The loading screens talk about the hell fighters which are never even touched on except in the PRELUDE, the cover is of a black American (as if you couldn't have picked a more peripheral actor in the war).

Diversity isn't a bad thing as long as it's natural. If people want to play as a black trooper, then let them. Give them the OPTION. If 3% of players choose to be black, then that is the choice they make and it's entirely organic and natural. If black characters end up being a minority, then so be it. It's not inherently bad.

Hell, the argument could be made that if they had given people the option to be black, there might be more black troopers. Black skin blends in better with foliage and soil after all.

The shoehorned diversity needs to stop. It's racist, agenda driven and wrong. Players should be free to immerse themselves into their character and role at their leisure.

i used the marksman with magnification turned all the way down; the large mag lets you blast away, the accuracy lets you miss every shot. the telescopic sight helped with quicker target acquisition. i didn't notice any difference between the three variants performance-wise; they're all equally garbage to me.

switch between madsen trench and storm whether you feel like hipfiring or ads. the advantages of low weight don't matter for lmg's since they become more accurate as they fire and support has infinite ammo anyway. storm can surprise people with its accuracy out to midrange.
