What Remains Of Edith Finch is much more interactive than Gone Home, really. It's a set, unfolding story like Life is Strange, but it uses interactive mechanics to a greater extent, and to an extent that the interactive mechanics are inextricable to the story; it's more, ludologically, a "game" than Gone Home.

It's definitely more accessible to people who aren't adjusted to the interactive drama, with an adventure conceit, "genre". It's a little more gimmicky, though.

I personally felt more for Gone Home than Edith Finch, however.

It's kind of difficult to say because ultimately my physical position would be the same. I would still be at university with a largely similar situation overall.

However LiS has done a lot for me. I made friends out of it for one thing. And psychologically LiS was the catalyst for a lot. I would probably still going about my day-to-day life, on the surface content, but heading for a breakdown mentally. LiS didn't give me depression and a general discontent with my life, but it triggered it (in a sense that it had been stewing in me for some time). Had I never played it I would have further suppressed emotions until perhaps one day I would have finally fell apart in a much worse style. Or who knows, perhaps I would have carried on oblivious and got over things, and looked forwards to a tidy but cynical life in front of a computer?

Um, so to answer your question, probably shitposting on /pol/.

Overall it was good. Some plotholes and maybe dragging things out too much, but it ended decently enough. I really like how the Dark Room got used for a good purpose to shelter people during the storm, it was something I wished popped up in the game. However there's enough vagueness to say that maybe it did happen.
Won't try to spoil anything for those who want to read it for themselves but the ending of Nathan's and Jefferson's partnership was fitting and kind of what I expected in the game. Not everything is tied up but there's enough to leave you mostly satisfied.

Even if it's not my all time favorite fic, ending an ongoing story that stuck to a pretty consistent schedule is kind of a bummer. But at least it ended and didn't get abandoned.
Hopefully in the future some more stories start up.

2) It is like Gone Home in that it's an interactive story, rather than its more ludological cousins, but I'd argue that they're still games. What Remains Of Edith Finch is much more interactive than its ilk, though; a drastically more interactive approach, actually.

That they are so oblivious they cannot recognize the act she puts on or just ignore the fact she gets so much better in a short amount of time.
Yeah, she did some dickish things in EP1, like taking up two handicapped parking spaces. I was pretty annoyed at her behavior in the beginning, but I ended up loving her by the end. It's pretty clear it's all part of her arc, no developer would write those things in and expect you to like her right away.

Most games like The Walking Dead, Bioshock Infinite, and The Last of Us all have their female mcguffins act innocent yet strong, morally correct, and just basically flawless. Chloe on the other hand does have flaws and character issues, just like all the other characters of LiS, and just like all the characters, she realizes and overcomes them over the course of the game with Max's guidance.

It was both of their faults but they both felt they had reasons to not call.
At first it was the both of them giving Max time to get used to Seattle. As time went on then Max realized calling Chloe may just result in "What took you so fucking long" so she was scared, Chloe may have thought that "Well Max hasn't call me so she must not care" or possible "What if Max hates who I've become?".
Insecurity and uncertainty on both their parts which unfortunately made them both suffer for a time and nearly prevented them from even meeting again, if not for Max's miraculous powers manifesting when they did.
But as they say "Everything happens for a reason" and those five years apart helped them recognize what they were missing and allowed them to quickly come back together when they did meet again.

I agree about Chloe having flaws but overcoming them. I was very skeptical of her at first and thought some unflattering things like she was only interested in Max to find Rachel/ messing with her powers. But pretty quickly it became clear that Chloe cares so much about Max and becomes much more mature over the course of a week just because Max is there for her. She's able to grow up after five years because she feels she has a reason to and has someone to reassure/ clear things up.
Chloe is a wonderful character in her writing and in her personality.

And people think everyone in the town died. I'd really just guess it at a dozen or so fatalities. A lot of the time people, a lot more people survive things you think would kill more.
Still a tragedy, but tornadoes happen. All that can be done is rescue/recovery, healing, and rebuilding.

Yes. It's one from the alternate timeline that Max sent to Chloe along with a letter.
Max comments how it seemed like that timeline's Max was being insensitive to Chloe, sending her photos of nice spots and having fun while Chloe was mostly confined to her room.
