Discussion lasted a lot longer during the 2.x series but this general never recovered from Gordias because most of the thread couldn't hack it in Gordias and couldn't handle that they weren't good enough for it, so they drove out anyone who did play the game by spamming that "i raid ;)" shit at them, until it was just bitter shitposters and the ERP crowd.

It might be a little better in Stormblood, if all the new raid tiers are xivg-tier like Creator.

It kind of is, yeah, except that for the people who actually did keep raiding through Gordias and Midas, the standard of play required to clear those turns was such that they just demolished Creator nearly effortlessly.

It was actually one of the smartest moves that SE's done in the last few years - except that they should have fucking known immediately that they were going to lose a lot of the high-end players that they'd cultivated through the previous two raid tiers, and had a "Savage (Savage)" type thing ready to go for 3.5, instead of teasing that they would maybe, possibly, have "something" for skilled players to do in the Stormblood off-patches.

T11 was probably about as hard as A10S.
The first half of T12 was harder than any part of A11S, although the second half was as easy as the first phase of A11S, so it kind of evens out.
T13 and A12S are probably about even overall, but T13 had much better pacing and the phases at least ramped up in difficulty, whereas A12S just flips back and forth between piss-easy phases and tougher ones.

They're pretty much dead even in terms of difficulty, except that Creator was a massive step down in difficulty from the previous raid tiers (Midas and Gordias), whereas FCoB was only a small step down from SCoB and actually more difficult than BCoB (and only a tiny handful of people did Savage SCoB because SE cocked it up, so it didn't really influence anyone but the world-first contenders).

We don't know what they're doing for Stormblood, specifically, because they're cagey and vague about it every time they mention it.

What we do know is:
- SE was pleased with the difficulty level and clear rates of Creator, and so that's probably the overall difficulty level they'll be targeting for Savage raids.
- They're going to continue the Alexander-style division of Normal and Savage.
- They're planning to do "something" in the off-patches for high-end raiders, and they've specifically said "If it's too hard for you, don't whine about it".

We just don't know what that "something" is. Ideally, it would be a full-on, SCoB-style true Savage mode, where you get a sadistically difficult raid, tuned for the max iLevel of its particular gear tier, but they could just as easily bitch out and make it "Okay, here's an extra-tough version of ONE of the four raid fights, have fun with this for three months".

They've mentioned the idea of making three versions of each raid, way back around 3.2 or so, but (at that time) it was in the context of "We really don't have the resources right now to do that". That could have changed since then, or maybe they're just planning to do some weird half-measure thing like having one or two hard fights per tier, which would suck.

Ideally, I think it would work like:

- Omega (Normal), works like Alex Normal, drops gear that is x+10 iLevels above the upgraded version of the previous (uncapped) tomestone gear, and on par with the current tier's crafted gear.
- Omega (Hard), works like Alex Savage in terms of difficulty, drops max-iLevel gear, non-dyeable and with fixed stats, but with a different model and color scheme from the Normal gear, the way that Creator was pre-3.5.
- Omega (Savage), releases during the odd patches, tuned for Hard mode BiS, drops gear with the same iLevel as Hard, and the same base model, but the gear is dyable, and you can customize all the secondary stats on it to be exactly how you'd like.


But as always, with SE, I'm prepared for disappointment.

The gear from Creator wasn't made dyable until 3.5. It still had unique models from the Normal Mode stuff and everything, but the colours were set in stone. I think 'unique models, max iLevel, no dyes' is appropriate for a raid tier on Creator's level.

I wouldn't use a potential third difficulty to inflate iLevel any more than they already are. In addition to the fact that it sort of goes against the idea of the third difficulty level being mainly a challenge mode thing for players who really want to test their skills, it also contributes to power creep across the expansion (the early Heavensward stuff is a LOT easier to do now than the early ARR stuff was to do during 3.5, because there's been an extra 10 iLevels during each raid tier, and that's already a problem).

At the same time though, customizable secondaries, even at the same iLevel, are a substantial mechanical incentive for min-maxers to give the tier a shot, and it also gives the game a skill-based customizable alternative to relic gear (pretty important since they're doing relic armor as well in SB). It would really kind of be the best of both worlds, and would be good for the biggest number of players, without requiring much in the way of developer resources/attention. Which, of course, means that SE probably won't do it.

When you have 9/9 you can hand it in to Khloe for at least one reward. If you have lines regardless you can get those on top of it.

Expert Roulette. You get 50 Scripture for running either of the two Expert Roulette dungeons, and 40 Scripture as a daily bonus for doing the roulette, so 90 a day for a 20-minute dungeon.

For some inexplicable reason SE thinks that it's fantastic design for the capped tomestones to drop at a ridiculously fast rate from Expert Roulettes, and to trickle in 5-10 at a time from everything else in the game that you could be doing, even though most of those things take as long or longer to complete than an Expert Roulette, and half of them are harder to boot.

Creator Savage is an alright option too now that it's unlocked, if you can get a fast farming group (30 Scripture per floor per clear), but if you're trying to scrape Scripture together then you're probably not really equipped to do that. Either way, yeah it's really dumb, but Expert Roulette is basically How You Get Scripture.
