AD is actually the largest overall dragonoid enemy we can actually face. The only thing bigger is the Archdragon corpse splayed across the mountaintop in ADP.

Can someone explain spell tools and spell buff to me in DS3? If I just want to buff my weapon with Blessed Weapon or Magic Weapon or something, do I just pick the catalyst with the highest spell buff? If so, why are there even other catalysts? Does the formula change if you're planning on casting ranged spells like souls spear and shit?

Lightning Blade, Dorkmeme Blade and Crystal Magic Weapon translate the mag.adj of the catalyst to lightning and magic damage. Magic and Great Magic Weapon are CMW but weaker. Blessed weapon gives a flat 7.5% ar increase to your weapon, regardless of mag.adj but the regen it gives scales with fai. Not sure about dark weapon

the main thing you should learn from this is that spell buff on its own doesn't mean shit
for example, crystal chime at 45/45 has 223 spell buff, while court sorcerer's has 238 at 60/20 and yorshka's has 247 at 20/60

however, when you look at weapon buffs, crystal chime is SIGNIFICANTLY weaker, while still dealing almost the same damage with soul arrow/lightning spear

What's a good weapon for pure faith build? I don't want to rely on DMB in pve and coop, so I'd like something that has good faith scaling and doesn't require str and dex investment. Also crucifix of the mad king is a very end game weapon, so I'd like something good to use in mid/early game.

One more thing, I've seen quite a lot of people using blessed weapon buff, is it better than DMB on low faith or something?

Because blues spawn in the middle of nowhere, isolated from their allies and surrounded by hostile NPCs while also having an HP penalty. They are easy targets.

Killing a host tends to be a marathon thanks to the ember bonus and 15 flasks. Killing a host protected by 1 or more phantom even moreso, since the extra body in the room prevents punishing those already incredibly safe heals. It's quicker and safer to clean up all the hired help and then run the host down while he rolls around tagging signs, but the new and improved no cooldown bluespam kinda puts a damper on that strategy.

It's not that straight 2/3v1s are terrible, but there's only a narrow selections of weapons suited to it and using those over and over gets boring after a while.

I dunno. I thought this when I first started playing at release and quit because the only longievity I get out of souls games is multiplayer. I came back to do the dlc and i've been winning a decent amount of my fights vs gank squads. I find myself using similar tactics to when I solo pvp in Eve Online.
You have to separate gangs using the geography of the environment you're in and exploit the blob mentality the enemies will have of 'there's 4 of us and 1 of him I can just charge in and play greedy'. Maybe you can't win 4v1 but you have a good chance of winning 4 1v1s in a row if you're better than them.

He's right through. You should use it like hyperarmor and attack after they do. If you get hit early while attacking, it will count as regular block and you'll get guardbroken because the shield has shit stability and it's hard to roll out of the shield stagger. The shield roar guarentees atleast one r1 followup and the WA rush should be used from mid range. The whole point of the weapon is to build up your combo while trading hits using the block frames. The jumping attack and the first r1 are the best part of the moveset with r2 thrusts being used as poking pressure. The WA attacks are situation and it's hard to use them with your other moves. You should also pair this weapon with a blessed target shield and longsword so you can switch out without them noticing and fish parries whenever they think you're not in guarding frames. It's not a top tier weapon but it plays in a different approach to trading.

Can I get the tower key without jewing 20k?

I've noticed that since the new patch, bleed will sometimes randomly fail to deal damage on a clean hit.

As in, you hit someone, get the damage from your attack (so no iframes) but bleed procs for 0 damage. Not really sure what's up with that or what causes it. I tested it with a friend standing still and he confirmed that he got "blood loss" and his bar refreshed without taking any damage from the bleed. It seems to happen entirely at random but like 1/50 procs
