I thought Akechi's twist back after palace 6 was handled really well. I mean hadn't been because of that cop telling you at the beginning that one of your friends sold you out, I wouldn't have suspected him at all. I mean sure I obviously knew he had a persona since way back,
but Atlus teased him so much as the TOTALLY NOT THE LAST PARTY MEMBER, and insisted in "hinting" that Shido was the bad guy behind all so hard that I stupidly didn't think they were co operating at all.

Akechi was shaping up to be a better Adachi in every sense of the word, he has a past that makes his actions make sense (even though the backstory is exposed way too swiftly) and he's not just some spoiled idiot like Adachi, so he's generally great... Until they pull out that lame blood relation with Shido..
. Was that really necessary? And god did they really need to turn him in a tragic hero even though he was a legitimately awful human being? Haru are you seriously fucking concerned about him?... Everyone?...

Then again they "redeemed" fucking Adachi back in Ultimax of all characters, so nothing surprises me anymore. But it's disappointing because I didn't have any story complaints so far... And it sucks because conceptually Akechi is a great character, but I fear this will totally ruin him for me.

Okay, I just finished the game. I cried. I don't see why the whole moving thing was necessary, though. And I liked Morgana from the beginning and liked him even more at the end.

The last palace/dungeon was a bitch. Long as fuck. And the last mini-boss fight was the longest thing ever. I wasn't under-leveled throughout the entire game, but that fight all of a sudden wore me down like no other. Those god damn shadows that kept healing the mini-boss and practically resetting the fight but draining all of my SP. I had to get lucky as fuck with Haru's gun skill proccing multiple times on the mini-boss to barely finish him off.

The only mementos request I am missing is part time job, full time hell. It is currently November and I think I may be fucked, is it even possible to miss mementos requests?

Huh. It felt like the shortest in the game to me, and I think it probably was. Its biggest crime is that there are literally no safe rooms for the first 5 floors, but honestly with the way you're able to immediately get all your SP and HP healed to max from Caroline, that feels like fair balancing, since a safe room would essentially mean an instant full heal otherwise.
The Archangel fights were a highlight for me though. You are aware the Angels that they summon are weak to Curse skills right? They literally die in one hit to Mudo.

The protag moving thing feels more like it's there for the sake of concluding the story and driving home the fact that the player has to put the game down now and move on, rather than it actually *needing* to be there. Morgana was fantastic though. It wasn't until after beating Yaldy and him acting like he was never going to see us again and thanking us for everything, before his "final" speech that I realized just how much I fucking loved the guy. His VA (JP, haven't really heard much of his dub voice) knocked it out of the park for that scene too. Christ they got Morgana so fucking right compared to Teddie.

One of the spinoffs is going to involve the PT traveling around in the mystery machine, right?

I hardly ever used Mudo just because I didn't ever really use those chance kill skills. I was struggling to take them down even with the other 3 characters doing Hard AOE attacks and me doing 2 Curse AOES. Sounds like my mistake if Mudo is actually consistent enough.

It just kind of happened.

Mudo isn't typically worth the chance on regular enemies, but on enemies specifically "Weak" to it, it will almost always succeed, and it's the intended use of the attack. Angel is one of the enemies that's weak to it, and the fight is basically designed around you using it to take them out, I never once had it miss, so the odds must be pretty good.

They didn't use a gunshot, they used that tinkling noise that comes up when you summon a persona in P4. Having a louder version of the gunshot noises in battle, like the warning shot noise, with some echo into silence would have been better than the choice of cutting from the bullet whooshing noise to a small noise like glass breaking.

Those two things are basically mutually exclusive. A tight lipped grimace and eye squint before shooting is not that shitface smirk he's worn through most of the game's perilous moments.

Merciless is only hard if you start a NG with it and don't ever switch off, its main thing is cutting your exp and money gains by 75% so you spend the entire game being drastically underleveled. It also gives a 3x modifier to crits/weak/tech hits as opposed to the x1.5 you get on Normal, so normal encounters usually end in one turn whether you have a weakspot to exploit and win or get wiped out by the enemy, and bosses absolutely shit on you since you have no weakspots to exploit there. If you just switch to Merciless after already having leveled with good personas and gear it defeats the entire point and might actually make the game easier since the higher modifier will help you out.

NG+ is going to be faceroll unless you play with arbitrary restrictions regardless of your difficulty setting though. I guess you could waste all your money, never use the compendium, and discard the gear you carried over, but even then some of the rank 10 confidant items you will no doubt have will make the game a hell of a lot easier. I'd just put it on Hard and embrace that you are going to shit on everything until you get to the secret boss, as long as you don't do a cheese strat and fight it normally it's a pretty challenging fight and lots of fun.

The game is over when the game is over. It doesn't really have to conclude with protag leaving it all behind and saying this chapter of his life is concluded forever and will never come up again because life doesn't work like that.

Especially when we (and the people writing this game) know there's gonna be sequels anyway.

It's not like that's what happened though. This is the most open to spinoffs Persona game we've had with them all still planning to stay in close contact, having the van together, and even talking about doing more in the future. It actually won't feel very forced to get sequels this time if they handle it well.

It may not be the same gunshot as the one you hear in battle - which is silly since every character has a different SFX for their guns anyway - but it sure as shit fits the huge ass barreled gun that Satanael wields.

They're really not. Smugness is defined by the dictionary as having excessive pride in oneself, and he definitely exhibits that in that scene - he doesn't need a grimace for it. I would argue that him exhibiting strength is a lot more satisfying than him doing the same smug look he's worn the entire game, but what one finds satisfying is ultimately very subjective. Regardless, he's not fighting the same foes he's been fighting up till then, he's literally summoning a fucking Demon God to shoot Humanity's shit desires in the fucking face, and I would say that a serious look fits the scope of the situation a lot more.

The other anon was right when they said that it was a stylistic choice when they went with softer, more mellow noises played under the sound of serene music. It was supposed to be hopeful. Started playing P3 again after finishing 5; while its a lot of steps back in a lot of ways, its also oddly freeing and relaxing.

Not having SEES character development and persona evolutions tied into how much time Door-kun listens means that I don't feel obligated to hang out with everyone in my team until they've sort out their issues. While the overall quality of social links is lower than 4 or 5, I can spend as much time on the ones I do want, when I want. At the same time, the fact that the rest of SEES is doing their own thing helps the plot not feel like its dragging until the end; we'll have Akihiko/Ken/Shinji doing their thing, Junpeis doomed romance, lots of little stories as we progress.

The same is true on the dungeon crawling front. I know I've got the full moon shadows to deal with eventually, but aside from that I can spend as much or as little time in Tartarus as I want. I don't feel like I've wasted a day by not clearing a dungeon or Palace in one sitting, I can just grind until I don't want to (or till people get tired, but I've always been okay with dealing with that).

Even in an in character, SEES ultimately isn't my responsibility. This is Mitsuru's gig and I'm just the big gun/field leader, I'm not running the whole show. I miss that dynamic a bit in 4 and 5, especially 4 where you are the adjudicator of EVERYTHING. At least in 5 they have the unanimous decision rule even though its a moot point cause you're the one saying who'll you'll be going after anyway.

I know the flaws will start showing as I go on and max out all the links and activities I like, but until then its being a refreshing change of pace.

Its definitely a bit clunky. I let the AI control my teammates in 5 anyway so at least that doesn't feel odd to me. I suspect the simple lack of things to do with your downtime is going to be the most overt problem eventually, in 5 even after maxing everything and everyone you could always go to the batting cages or play retro games for a little change of pace.

To start Futaba you need Kindness at 4. To start Iwai you need Guts at 4 and to finish him you need Guts at 5. You can get kindness from hanging out with Sojiro but at some point you'll also need it to continue his story. There's one other Confidant that gives Kindness but I can't recall when it starts so I'm gonna void spoiling it for you.

If you get correct dialogue choices and always bring a Persona of their Arcana it's possible to max out a confidant in 9 meetings. Get Fortune to rank 7 so you can get friendlier without spending time and you should be easily able to do Futaba, Iwai and most of the others too.
