We can talk about Xenonauts in here too, right? Forgive me, I'm new to these generals.
I really wish it said it somewhere in game that officers need 5 missions and CPL rank before I wasted 100 credits thinking I could stop fatigue spirals early.

You can but alot of Anons here are more likely to criticize it.

I'm considering upgrading my humble /xcg/ imgur album into a Booru Gallery. The benefits of this would be a tagging system so that people can easily find pics on topics that they want. However, considering the album is fast approaching 1,000 images, this would be a large project.
How interested would people be in this?I am probably going to do it anyway, but some feedback might give me some motivation
Here is an example of a /vg/ Booru for reference: http://r6gdrawfriends.booru.org/
>>174900396
sounds cool
>>174876342
You can easily change the cost to make each type and the damage/spread/range/etc. stats but you can't change where they are in research. So they'll still conflict.
>>174900396
That sounds better. Go for it.
>>174900396
why not
make sure to make a standardized tagging system
>>174902052
>make sure to make a standardized tagging system
Can you clarify what a "standardized tagging system" looks like?
>>174902316
it depends on the specific needs of the general and the specific booru style you're going for
for instance in-jokes could be tagged, or character names could be tagged, or specific gameplay concepts could be tagged depending on consensus terms for them
basically, do you want to tag the memes or not, work that out early on
some boorus just alphabetize their tags, some separate by category (artist name separate from "tig_ass_bitties", etc
>>174900783
That would be because its in the StrategyElement .uc instead of an ini.
If someone can find where in the base games files that the laser/coil mod makes the override to make beams come after laser/coil you can probably do the same for Mag weapons then change the tech requirement for Lasers to Modular Weapons, adjust the stats to be in between Ballistic and Mag, and adjust the supply/alloy/elerium cost.
Or Pavonis could accept the fact that not everyone wants to use the entirety of Long War 2 and actually update their individual packs but thats not likely.
>>174902669
Ok, I'll take that into consideration. Thank you for the input.
Hello /xcg/,
Before the VGL8 kicks off in a couple of weeks i want to discuss 2 things.
First the roster which is pic related. Do you guys have suggestions for the roster or should i run a poll for a couple of days/weeks?
Second is our music for the team.
Currently we have
Pregame anthem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztpwb6kOMUc
Goal horn: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtyvh-DeQYs
Beaglerush brace horn: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ve0PfpFRl8M
Alien goal horn: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0HJq3Rngmek
Miracle goal horn: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRJ7eCiWY7M
Do you guys want to change any of these or should we keep them

Thin men and snakes are the same. Faceless are not. Though we never see sneks having transforming powers, so how they were disguised is anyone's guess

well, i have bad news anon. It's a bug where the waterworld disappears. If you can't assault now, basically you cannot finish the campaign. DFC (small youtuber, had a few modded playthroughs) had this exact problem. iirc he didn't find a solution.
it's not a bug with LW2 and probably some weird interaction between 2 different mods
>>174916065

>>174916541
Bullshit, the bits with an ethereal when you possess an avatar don't mean anything.
>>174917453
Than how do you explain the random ethereal who shows up at the end? Or the fact that this ethereal seems to be on our side? (sound familiar) Or why the commander suddenly has psychic bullshit affinity? Or why the commander can handle the simulation machine? There's something that doesn't add up. Besides, the Bureau is focused around ascended ethereals, which XCOM 1 already confirms. It's probably canon as ridiculous as it is.
>>174917908

Just to be clear, the most important feature is the x-com but cleaned up and re-coded from the ground up to run buttery smooth on any modern operating system with very good options and mods built straight in. The mods are optional of course, but between building your own modding experience, and overhaul mods like FMP and PirateZ, you get entire fresh experiences once you've exhausted vanilla x-com. Also, Terror from the Deep is supported.

It's supposed to remove stealth as your standard tactic and instead encourage actual fights. Which is a big deal since I would say stealth is by far LW2's biggest downfall currently. Not to say it's certain the mod will be fantastic after 1.3, but it at least gives it a shot.
>>174935980
there's not supposed to be, unless wangblows 10 is that different
if you're talking about the several steps to enable patchergui and mutators in the first place, that's already done if you're using long war
So i just tried the debug character & started exploring some of the buildings that you never really bother with in game & i couldn't help but notice the bloody axe on a bed....

>Enemy within long war
>Order 57 rookies so I can stay near the 100 cap

>>174952125
You can customize Kevlar to be shirtless and the weapons still do the same damage, so they're probably using cheap ones, really cheap ones
>>174952696
I had like over 100 things in repair and it crashed every time the order completes. Too much orders seem to fuck something up and crash. Limit what you order up to 20 even I got lag from those event list orders.

>>174966824
Meld might very well be canon anyway. Certainly, the MEC project is, just XCOM didn't survive long enough to retrieve MELD to make it viable beyond the SPARK prototype.
As a resistance, XCOM has taken a much more "Purge the Alien" approach to due to the ubiquity of alien gene-modding which means that they may have moral reasons from not actually 'discovering' MELD, as they never plan to implement cybernetics or genetic modification.

personally I often keep a spare, when everything is repairing it's cheaper to pay up when a fighter comes than to buy extra birds in a desperate attempt to do enough damage
>>174979762
It's also useful to keep one ready for when the ayys launch a retaliation mission. Since a battleship nukes your satellite it can be handy to get another one back up so when the assault carrier is inbound you can pull people out of psi training or something.

Gunners have good inherent health progression, so making him into one wastes the good base amount. What's the point of a 6-health squaddie? You can make use if they also have 11 mobility and must thus always wear mobility armor, but that's not the case here.
Or as you say, if you try to salvage it by biotanking, but he doesn't have the will for it. Plus "gunner biotank" sounds like "support grenade scout", a build you use when you get bad stats from randoming and are trying to make do somehow.

If you're talking XCOM 2 - Normie humans were told their governments shot first and the aliens were just retaliating/defending themselves.
I imagine the government officials who knew different were the first people to take a trip to the blacksites.

Where to start, it's a total fuck up and some real shady business practices. If you just want a cheap game then go for it (low tier that you don't mind potentially losing) but don't do the """investor""" bullshit.

Basically he is an "SJW" so people freak out and try to make it seem like every decision he makes is awful and not something pretty much every developer does. He has made some bad decisions and can't stick to a budget, but it's pretty clear whenever he is brought up that people exaggerate because of his politics. Never mind the fact that Tim Schafer is one of many people who started Fig you will still hear people bitching about some "shady" dealings without proof.
>>175016315
Thanks man. I guess i'll have to think of ayy DR gains as a doom clock in this campaign.
Imagine if XCOM 2 had actual resistance mechanics outside of "establish haven".
>>175015916
The whole shebang, if you don't mind. Or kindly point me to somewhere I can begin research on this. But what you're basically saying is go for it so long as I go for say the $25 tier and below?
>>175016758
One of the good things LW2 did. Made better with RM's haven job mods
>>175017265
I like the more varied retaliations too, defending a supply convoy, recruitment drive or datatap breaks it up from the conventional terror type mission.
Also rendezvous was cool the first few times I did it, but it is really easy and boring.
>>175017265
It really isn't related to a resistance though. I mean there's never any operations to steal guns, you don't even need to unite other resistance groups. Like fuck, there's barely any kinds of sabotage missions.
>>175016435
My reasons for disliking him are the bad business decisions.
Broken Age was a debacle, and pulling the plug on Spacebase DF9 when it was basically a tech demo and having the gall to call it complete really rankles.
But yeah, you're right that a lot of the Fig is shady shit is just the same argument you can level against every crowdfunding platform.
>>175017592
You could say smash and grabs would be like that.
Running a resistance force is outside the scope of XCOM anyway.
>>175017676
The only thing I have ever seen that was crowdfunded and turned out well was FTL. I liked Elite: Dangerous's concept but the execution is too autistic for even me.
But Gollop actually has passion, talent and experience so I am hopeful.
>>175017265
I really like the strategic early game but it becomes such a chore once you have more regions than can fit on one screen.
It reminds me a lot of manually going through your cities in Civilization 3 and making sure people weren't acting retarded. Early game it matters so much and it's more or less painless to do but by endgame half of your seven hour turns are spent tabbing through your hundreds of cities.

>>175019306
Mostly. But someone has to take it, someone has to get in range to throw it, not reliable against flying targets, and it is a consumable.

>>175019836
>How would a ballistic squad deal with those
Flack ammo I guess. And Heat for disks. Does Ballistics mean no rocket launcher upgrades? Rocketeers are pretty much AA troops.
>>175019992
Yeah, no recoilless rifles
>>175019836
A ballistics only run would be practically impossible in long war.
2-4 damage on most unit's weapons is not going to hold up when the alien research starts compiling and you get 12 health thin men.
>>175020096
Well early game they are still good, but then of course they will fall off quite hard.
>>175017958
There are a few kickstarter projects that went well even when debacles like MN9 hog the attention. Shadowrun Returns/Dragonfall/Hong Kong are generally well regarded, with Dragonfall being seen as truly excellent. There was a Divine Divinity game that also went well. I have some critiques about Pillars of Eternity, but that one at least delivered on what was promised. Crowdfunding can be hit more miss, but it's not all miss.
>>175020161

>>175021228
I feel like going balls out for meld is possible playing like a normal MEC rush. Streamers do that shit all the time.
>>175021701
The issue is that if you are playing your strategic game correctly then meld will be a lot less plentiful.
>>175022049
Fair, but a mec-1 costs 30 meld. We can easily bank what, 100 in the first month? Really we only care about mec-1s and their attendant perks from the soldiers.
>>175022412
No chance you're getting 100 from the first month. Canisters give 5 each, there's 3 scouts and what, 4 abductions? Some of those will have no meld and you'd be doing very well to snag two canisters in those that do have it. Assuming what I think is a generous average of 1.5 canisters per mission, that's 10 for 7 missions or 50 meld, plus like 10-20 from kills depending on how much you use explosives. That's the optimistic number, not "easily".
Also there's a token price for chopping soldiers so it's a bit above 30 per mec, but I don't remember how much.
How do people even get the 4 alien computers for a mec rush?
>>175023328

This is misleading. The AI in Long War 1.0 is at the same level maybe better as their skills increase and the fact that LOS doesn't pierce building makes the game more tactical but yes slightly easier. XCOM2 has so much LOS bullshit issues that you can't ever plan to break LOS appropriately. Rooftops are particularly stupid.

EW/EU are optimized for the first-playthrough experience, they're very unbalanced and have lots of issues if you try to replay a lot. The fundamental gameplay is solid enough that having only grenades available didn't stop me from replaying the first month a load of times on I/I vanilla before LW was a thing, but if we're comparing vanilla to vanilla X2 is better.
>>175077187
I kinda doubt that LW2 will be better than LW1 even if they finish it. First, LW1 was a magnificent accomplishment, it would be a job well done to replicate it, much less outdo it.
Second, the engine is worse - a shitty minimalistic UI that makes it much harder to convey information to the player than X1, load times that vary from very long to noticeable depending on your machine where previously there were none, map sameness, weird camera behavior and action delays, los bugs.
I updated the Warden Gear mod with the Wraith Suit Update, comes with shiny new armor pieces for the Wraith Suit and couple of new helmets and head gear.
There's a hood now in the mod and it bears mentioning because not only is this hood available on all 3 slots like the scarf, but it is also integrated on a couple of the Wraith Torso pieces, so if you use the wraith suit with those pieces you might get a little extra customization.
Like with the warden stuff, the wraith suit pieces wont show up if your soldier doesn't have the wraith suit equipped, it also doesn't come with as many pieces as the Warden armor since it's unlikely(probably) that you'll have as many people using the wraith suit.
>>175079060
that looks noice
how did you achieve the rough texture?
>>175079060
>that Beakie
>>175079261
If you mean "why it's not shiny?" I basically had to remake the roughness and specular map for the armor, which are the alpha channel in the diffuse texture and the red channel in the msk(multimask) texture. And then i just added some shitty scratches here and there to give it some wear and tear look.
I also had to change the color of the diffuse texture from the weird blue that power armor has to the same brown shade that pretty much everything else in the game has, so that it matches pretty much every other helmet the game has and mods have.
Overall i found the whole "retexturing" thing to be the most tedious and annoying part of the mod, followed by having to reposition pouches and stuff for so many armor pieces.

Lids only appear on terror missions. Only filthy rebels get penetrated. No head canon required.

What Chryssalids? There were no Chryssalids in the news reports. Maybe those weird outlanders tried farming them and they got loose.
It would have been quite something if there were more missions like the one with Van Doorn. Seeing the armies of different countries battling it out with the aliens mid-mission was something I kind of expected to eventually see after the mission was done.

This is the only viper we need around here.
Absolute rookie here with a quick question
Is the pc version of Xcom 2 still obscenely demanding? I've got a mid-tier laptop that's a couple of years old and when 2 first released it was unplayable
Has optimization lowered the requirements at all? I'm perfectly fine playing on minimum everything
Or should I just stick with the ps4 version
>>175101407
I prefer this viper
>>175101842
It's better optimized but still pretty demanding, specially if you use a shitload of cosmetic mods
>>175101842
It'll run, barely, if you have no mods. I modded my game to a standstill and quit because I couldn't go back to vanilla.
Can we talk about how truly insane ADVENT actually is when you think about it? In a strength three data cache mission Advent was able to "reinforce" or deploy 7 full squads of militant police forces along with alien heavy special operation units. During the 10 turns my turns battled them off. Each turn probably in real time only taking what? I always think about 20 seconds per turn. ADVENT forces can deploy nearly anywhere ON THE PLANET within minutes with fully kitted out deathsquad(and then 20 more) at the drop of a hat while the average response time in a good town/city is about 10 minutes for police.
It's easy to see why Xcom has trouble recruiting when you have an enemy like that in all reality.
How do you change the male to female ratio for recruits and such? I'm starting to have all female squads.
>>175102729
>I'm starting to have all female squads.

>>175076464

XCOM2 is broken currently, if they fix the LOS shit, timers and stealth then maybe.
>>175085449
This is the xcom I desire. XCOM2 is too clean.
What's the objectively funnest version of Long War 1?
I really fucking enjoyed I/I in B14i and I got almost an entire campaign out of that, I felt like there was enough of a challenge that you were forced to actually think and exploit your strengths, but MECs and soldiers were varied enough that you could run gimmicky shit that still worked.
Is b15 worth it for the general improvements? Does any of that even matter considering you can modify many things?
Asking because I haven't played Xcom EU at all since I finished B14i.
>>175105231
Long War 1.0 on normal ironman with increased pods, it allows you to build classes how you like instead of the I/I only one way to play setups.
You are less starved for resources too so it cuts the grind down. If you want to be "hardcore" use the difficulty SW options to tweak your game. It's a much more fun version of Long War imo, impossible just starves you for resources and more builds are viable in normal.
>>175105231
Dude b15 brought in country start bonuses and a whole load of other cool shit.
Some people buffed the price of MECs down to less prohibitive pricing so maybe consider that if you like MECs or something, b14 MECs were goddamn insane, fun but kind of too broken, so their nerfs were kind of needed.
After carapace and lasers, what is the general next step in research?
I have 4 CPL rocketeers and I didn't have to train any of them to get there. Feels good to have rocketeers instantly useful. I think I might make van doorn one too.

>>175139570
Agree. Some XCOM2 maps even have cyberpunk vibe in them. Except armor designs. Both ADVENT and XCOM tier 2,3 armors look like some cosplay plastic crap. Also Combine stylistics > ADVENT stylistics, by a large margin.
In terms of character and facial design though, I think XCOM2 found a nice niche between cartoony and realistic style, it's hard not to hit the uncanny valley if you go for realism with this level of graphics.

Easy is way too easy dude, the game helps you too much
Also XCOM 2 gets about 50% discounts from time to time

>>175144320
The editing can be a grind. I split basically every individual action into its own clip, so it's easy to end up with 1-200 individual edits. I also like to base part of my editing on the audio, which is worth paying attention to as well. So be aware of that.

Is that even possible at this point? Wouldn't that take away half of the fun of the XCOM experience? Will be ever be able to adapt ourselves to a 'fixed' XCOM?
>>175179739
I actually like XCOM 2, it has issues but they're too fundamental to what they tried to do to experiment with the game flow to actually fix.
But taken as a part of the entire franchise, as one of the more experimental titles in the series it at least still manages to be a good game, and the modding support is great.
I hope for an expansion to make it more interesting but I won't mind if they simply move on to XCOM 3.
Gollop's return to the genre and Xenonauts 2 being in production means it is a good time to be a fan of the TBS Tactics/Global Strategy genre.

It just gonna take time. But some traps to look out for is try to spread the expereince around your roster. You need a strong robust barracks to make it through. Later on you should have a 60 man barracks. For the air-game, understand that you can't shoot down every UFO. Read up the LW ufopedia as well, some of the general tips are helpful, and if you have specific numbers/stats questions it should be completely up to date.

>Several turns were spent slowly moving to the left until we spot three Sectoids
>Sectoid fuckers dash into the building opposite of ours
>Overwatch rest of the guys who didn't move
>One Sectoid moves out to cover behind an Abduction Pod.
>Gunned down by the Firing Line like a Sand Nigger
>Rest decides its smart to overwatch
>Fuck_that.Gif
>Toss a Frag Grenade towards the door to break the Overwatch for both.
>Door goes down alongside the cover of the Sectoids, both are injured, reducing their Accuracy
>Also reveal another pod of Sectoids, two break off into cover while one takes a shot, hitting and wounding one of my Rookies
>Rookie panics, running off and hunkering down away from the squad
>I decide to break the line, using half of my available Rookies to shoot the Three Sectoids out of cover while dashing the other three to drop down and get into cover.
>All three Sectoids out of cover are killed.
>Turn Ends, the Two Sectoids retreat into the shadows for their safety.
>My Turn again, Slowly move into the Store with the whole Squad, dashing most of them to get to catch up with three already down below.

>Last Three move in, Two were able to flank and kill both of the Sectoids
>Send the Last Rookie to dash and root out the remaining Ayys, incurring the Wrath of two Sectoid Pods in the Progress.
>All Six move into cover, ending my turn.
>One Sectoid flanks the Dashing Rookie and kills him.
Another moves into better cover from outside the store and wounds another, She also hightails it behind a set of shelves and hunkers down
>The half of the Sectoids that yet to move make for better cover and mind merge with the other half, who move forward and fail their shots
>Assess the situation and decide to blow the wall with one of my remaining Frag Grenades, allowing the over five to get shots in and relieve pressure on the two inside
>Move them into cover and toss the grenade at the wall and destroying it
>Toss another to destroy the remaining Ayy's cover, leaving all four exposed while killing one of the forward Sectoids
>Shoot both Mind Mergers, feedback killing the last one
>Overall Mission Stats:12 dead Sectoids with two injured and one dead
>Kid watched me the whole time and is in shock while I get out of my chair and extend hand outward, ready to collect my cash
>Being a man of his word, he fishes a 20 out of his pocket and places it in my hand and I walk away.

What a total noob. If he held you to playing vanilla he probably would have gotten his 20 bucks.
What the fuck are the rules for alien deployment in Base Assaults? Why did I just run into a 6 Muton Elite pod in a June base assault? I was expecting Mechtoids not an ass-fucking.
Commander, you're attacking a crashed scout in early LW1. You activate a pod of four drones with your first move, one lands, the rest fly. You have five rifle-armed rookies and an LCPL rocketeer escorting them. Motion tracker tells us we're safe from double activations, but you also know there's unclaimed meld out there. As this is an UFO mission, all rookies will rank up regardless of what you do.
Would you instantly kill all drones with a HEAT shredder? If not, how many turns would you spend kiting them? Would things change if more/fewer of the drones are airborne?
>>175206360
I'm pretty sure there's always a pod with elites and a l9 cyberdisc
>>175206491
>drones*unzips rocket*
>>175206360
And this is the end of that. Lesson learned: assaulting alien bases early is not a strategy, because fuck you for trying to fight back against the aliens panic-bombing the US on month 3 after I got the continent bonus.
End of May here in LW and I need some help so I got a few of questions.
When does Van Doorn mission happen? I already have Zhang
I have a swarming abduction, is that as bad as a terror mission. send A team?
Should my classes be fairly even amounts of each? I generally have 1 extra of infantry or assault and 1 less rocketeer, I plan to use a soldier offer to get a medic going but I haven't had the need for a medic yet. I think I have 50 soldiers trained up.
I forgot to send a covert operative on the EXALT thing do I just lose that 2 days of research? What is best soldier for covert?
>>175209618
Also what corpses can I sell?
>>175209618
>When does Van Doorn mission happen?
For me it almost always happens march or april, but I play without DLC missions. It has a chance of replacing any council mission, so with DLC missions competing for the same slot it would take longer.
Best covert soldier is an assault with high mobility and a motion tracker.
Classes are up to you, but teams with one of each are a safe choice, and straying too far from that makes it easy to gimp yourself without even noticing. But that's more for big imbalances, unlikely that one less rocketeer would be a problem. I recruit to 60 soldiers once squad size is maxed.
Swarming abductions are nasty so probably A-team, but as with everything it's a judgement call, some months have easy aliens and can swap out a couple soldiers.
>>175209618
>When does Van Doorn mission happen?
random
>I have a swarming abduction, is that as bad as a terror mission. send A team?
The resistance count tells you how many pods there
>Should my classes be fairly even amounts of each?
As a rule of thumb, yes
>I forgot to send a covert operative on the EXALT thing do I just lose that 2 days of research?
Yes. But you also lose out on the cash reward and xp
>What is best soldier for covert?
Answer is assaults because of how run and gun lets you dash and still activate relays.

Speaking of which... its been like what, two days since it began crowdfunding? And they're practically there.
>Psychic powers require a little meld and psychic troopers can be gene modded
>psychic troops can still use all of your regular gear
>Mec's require a lot of meld and elerium and alloy and cash and mec troopers can't use gene mods
>so do their weapons which all also need a lot of investment
>you have no foundry projects to get more meld and no other ways to get it but to play poorly and dash for the meld beacons
>the meld you do get will be devoted to foundry projects you need for other useful upgrades such as upgrades for the Mecs you need to build
>once you unlock the higher tier mecs you still need to buy the lower tier version and replace it for every soldier meaning massive wait times
This feels like it wasn't playtested.
>>175241079
>This feels like it wasn't playtested.
Well then you would be wrong
>>175241079
They hit extremely hard though. Marauders can run 20 tiles, flank and crit and run back or continue shooting others. Gene mods or psyonics aren't really powerful. You can potentially deal 90 damage in a turn with them, assuming all crits.
I gave 1 extra DR though, because fuck limp dick.
>>175241079
MECs are very strong, usually a strict upgrade over a normal genemodded soldier of the same class, so the way they were ultimately balanced (after two years of playtesting) was to limit how many you can realistically deploy by price.
Gene mods, psi and officer ranks all add to fatigue which forms a natural deterrent to stacking them too much.
>>175241889
Wait, wrong one. That was a sniper crit, not mec.

A QA depot on Steam is seeing regular updates. It is associated with the XCOM 2 depots, specifically two pieces of "unknown" DLC.
I'm giving this openxcom mod "The X-COM Files" a whirl. My post some stuff If I find it interesting. Basically a mod sort of along the same line of thinking as FMP, but instead the game starts before the main alien invasion, and you are a small time outfit dealing with super-natural incidences. Only version .63 currently. Relatively new, forum post was made in May of 2016. The Modder is alive and very active.
>>175284693
Let us know how it is, anon.
I never see anyone here discussing XCOM 2 multiplayer? Is it dead? Unbalanced? Is it as buggy as XCOM 1? I'm thinking about trying it out.
The new XCOMs desperately need an in-game UFOpaedia like the originals had. Why you may ask? Easy to reach information in-game that is also extremely easy to modify and add your own entries. For example, I just started this new x-com mod 100% fresh. However, after reading the UFOpaedia in which the author details all the important changes and game mechanics, I already know exactly where I stand. Imagine how much better big mods like LW1 and LW2 would be with an easy to modify and access in-game UFOpaedia. It's just text too, pictures are optional. Very simple, very effective.

>>175287371

>>175287409
You're right, now that you mention. They need to work on making it more comprehensive and more prominent. I want weapon stats and mechanics listed. LW2 kinda of does this, but then only half explains thing. You would think people would realize that more information leads to more thoughtful and strategic gameplay.
>>175287371
My two operatives are ready to move out. I'm not taking any chances, so I grab a shotty for close range. Both have electric clubs and spare mags. I couldn't even get any of the equipment I ordered yet, so the glocks I started with will have to do.
Just to note, I currently only have access to pistols and shotguns. The largest weapon I could pick up was a standard shotgun.
>>175288135
Ok, so you know that whole public transport stuff? Yeah, it's actually about as fast as public transport. It takes me like two days to get somewhere. I'm trying to avoid doing my first mission as a night mission, but it takes so long to get there, I keep on misjudging my timing. My guys are literally boarding flights and trying to make their connection flights and renting cars.
>>175288135
Looks like a guy in an anime wig. Not fooling any horny alien agents, Julia.
>>175288617
Ok, so I changed my mind and went to South Africa. My equipment arrived while my agents where busy sprinting all the way from terminal 1 to terminal 4 to make their connecting flight.
Apparently I'm investigating the Church of Dagon. I think that's a fish god, so these people are definitely a bunch of weirdos.
I've got the classic spooky x-com track playing, but instead of my usual 14 man death squad packing rocket launchers, heavy canons, HE packs, and a lot of guns, I've got two classy suits freshly exited from their economy rental car.
Feeling just a tad bit nervous as I have no idea what I'm up against.
>>175289297
Aliens are invading through genestealer cults?
>>175289297
I'm completely out in the open here. Normally I wait the first turn out, but I don't have a comfy skyranger to hunker down in. I consider hiding my agents behind the car, but instead aggressively sprint them up to the nearest building for cover, hoping that the fencing around them and the walls will save them from any hostile fire.
Nothing happens the first turn though. Complete silence. Not even the sound of doors opening.
Second turn I start investigating my building. This is tense. A two-man team of rookies breaching and clearing buildings is not what I consider a tactically sound approach.
Once again nothing happens. I'm starting to think there might only be a few suspects on the map.
I keep clearing the building and start closing doors as I go to make sure that no one sneaks up on me. Turn 3 passes without incidence once again.
>>175290153
I'll update when something happens. Till then just assume cautious investigation. Just showing that the this tactical map is not that big. Also if someone could make a new thread besides me that would be cool
