Yeah Crusader Kings is pretty hard to get into. It's more of a long game, and manipulating things to get Casus Belli is annoying, especially when you're used to map painting in strategic games. I got into CK playing as the Mumu dynasty in Ireland, with the end-game of uniting Ireland under one throne, that was doable and a decent way to learn. The main reason I got burned out of CK2 was I didn't want to buy the 500 DLCs to be in factions or neat regions I wanted to try (like being a converted Zoroastrian or a Khazar jew sounded fun, but fuck being nickel-and-dimed by Paradox), and being in most of the game is the same shit otherwise I got burned out pretty quick.

CK2 is really more a "Medieval Geneaological Simulator" than it is a "Strategy Game".

I usually just stay with 1 fief, whenever I feel ready to go, I fill my party with best inf/archers and disband the rest of garrison. I don't have experience with brainybots/improv. formations etc, but on bare native you must use them like dull puppets rather than like kind of (ro)bots that have scripted some reliable patterns for combat .
Which looks like this: F1 F2(or F1), F2 F5 (just in case), and postioning them with press F1.
Sounds bit confusing with my English level probably, but it takes battle or two and you can use them just fine.
At least don't let them charge (neither at beggining nor later), they tend to switch to melee.

For AD 1257 I moved some cities from the right side of the map (Ilkhanate) to the Netherlands to make the Netherlands. Added Den Haag as city and Leeuwarden as castle.

They are muslim now though. Realism is important.

I don't understand this 2bh but yup, player have perfect aiming again with around 350+ prof, with just 4 horse archery, considering that they ride chargers (40-42 speed). (lets skip power draw issues for now).
Kh. Vet archers have 6 ha, and some 100ish prof, they ride cursers, which may be the case here. I'm not sure but giving them steppe chargers might be enough to fix accuracy( and rising wage by 5-10gold to be fair)
Another issue is that AI h. archers can't just spam arrows at bunch of enemies at their max fire rate, they shoot seriously slow as fuck for some reason (lolbalance probably)

I don't know about fancy formations from mods, but the point is to make them stop at your line of infantry. When they sucesfully break, they start to ride all over the place, bump your trups and spam morning starts, etc, they steamroll shit in general.
When they stuck, all group do the same that you for sure saw with Desert/Steppe Bandits, just 1 big traffic jam of cav. Your sharpies will do the rest, lucky that every h. cav is rather lame with shielding use/quality, to give you more details: I'd spam f2+f4 until there are 3 lines of husclars/seargants (if possible ofc)
at worst you can lure them into mountains and keep finger crossed for pic related, they are fucked usualy just with map alone. (that;s last resort, high mountain spawn once in blue moon)

2 handers (these +115 long particulary), aimin long swords, elite scimtars, sarranid cav swords even, meme lance ofc, too. All these works nice, it;s up to your prefferences. I'd get Lance+ 1h+shield or 2h rather than 1h+shied plus 2h, that lenght saves asses sometimes. (hits like truck too)

all spears besides few (pike) can be wield in 1 or 2 hands, that depends if you carry a shield or not
For mounted guy take heavy lance (or any lance, that's importan here) they can be used to couching*, it's very strong and hard to block hit

Pack party with siedge troops, relase the oath and get fief as neutral. You need to bully farmers/caravan to be able to run siedge.
I'd wait for 1 or better yet 2 wars with your next target involved. Or attack Swadians, they sucks at being faction anyway.
And pack whatever shit that can carry a weapon- farmers, whores, big squirells, everything. You'll need to survive few siedges pretty soon.
