House is so retarded, and self sabotaged all his plans to such an extent, that had it not been for the Courier's near impossible survival of getting shot in the head, he would have had an absolutely zero % chance of winning

Yes, it is a meme because it's a half-assed assumption that FONV doesn't even support (as you pointed out with how shitty Vegas itself was until House got off his ass). The only big metropolitan regions that are "developed" as shown in the Fallout Universe so far is maybe San Francisco, and that was entirely because of the Shi (and their stewardship of pre-war technology), and maybe The Boneyard, but that was a rough craphole in the only game it was actually depicted, and it's only assumed to be developed by the 2280s because the Gun Runners and Followers of the Apocalypse worked their asses off for a century to develop settlements in that region and it has renown (Medical College and Gun Runners are regionally known). But considering one of the few non-doctor people from the Boneyard you actually meet in FONV is a scummy gangbanging druggy, it's still easy to assume The Boneyard has it's shitholes still.

So yes, the idea that big metro regions would have more development than smaller cities or rural towns, is a meme. It hasn't been implied or substantiated as the general trend of development in the Fallout Universe by any game at all. They do make good gameworld settings though, because as I mentioned before, the only major advantages a large metropolitan region would have, is salvage potential, and finding pre-war technologies and relics, and also higher potential populations in very diverse competitive factions.
>>174754326
Ok, fair enough.
>>
>>174756714
>Who do you suppose would be a better option?
None of them DESU.

Legion are idiots cosplaying while not even understanding what they are cosplaying.

The NCR could be salvaged via internal revolution to cut out the corrupt elements, but that is a big if.

And House is a egotistical megalomaniac who has no real understanding of the people under him, and whose poor management has already ruined any real chances he had at getting anything accomplished. His police state will eventually lead to him either being forced to stand down, or have to kill everyone after they get even more tired of his bullshit then they already are, since he can't run a city with no one in it.

The Yes Man ending is probably the best for everyone as it forces both the NCR and Legion back, and makes them have to look inward at their problems, while at the same time it removes the idiot that is House, keeping Vegas an actually sustainable, if somewhat lawless, state

You forget the big five of the east coast
-D.C.
-The Pitt
-Boston
-Ronto
-Whatever city the Broken Banks is set in

Also, while Salt Lake City itself didn't manage much, the Mormons accomplished quite a bit in Ogden, which is part of the Salt Lake City metro area.

Then there is L.A.

And while we haven't heard form them yet, I would suspect
-Seattle
-New Orleans
-Miami
-At least one of the big Texas cities
-Maybe Nashville

To be up there also
>>

>>
>>174754498
Not bad, although I think your concept that the Texas Triangle would be unified in any way, and especially connected with NOLA, is laughable. Also why is all of Florida ghouls? Miami is extremely isolated from northern Florida. I could see a ghoul faction maybe because of some experimental spaceship reactor at Cape Canaveral (or whatever the universe equivalent is) causing widespread radition. But it would hardly mean they were unified. Miami ruins swamp people with a cuban or colombian drug culture fighting off ghouls from the north might work.

I think NOLA as a ghoul city could work too, nukes drop, levies break, toxic river water flood into certain quarters. Raft and on-stilt shack settlements in flooded quarters full of cajun ghouls, with "pure" humans in unflooded regions of town fighting eachother. Also I think any "New South" faction would be in Georgia/Carolina area myself, like Hotlanta to Charlotte.

Is there a cleaner version of that map? The one with just the Fallout settlements, none of the extra lines, would be nice.

Like this one?

> I think your concept that the Texas Triangle would be unified in any way, and especially connected with NOLA, is laughable
I meant it more as trading cities, like how The Capital Wasteland, The Pitt, The Commonwealth, and the Broken Banks all trade with each other.

New Orleans really has no one else nearby for them to interact with, so it makes sense they would at least have some trade with Houston.

>Also why is all of Florida ghouls?
It would make for a funny stereotype that Florida, the state commonly associated with old people, would all become ghouls, forming a large ghoul state.
>>
lmfao osama bin brahmin how did alchestbreach come up with the joke?
>>
>>174757172
DC is a shithole, literally the only halfway decent settlements are Megaton and Rivet City. The only reason that region might be halfway decent is because of the Lone Wanderer unifying the locals with the BoS and getting Project Purity going. Before that it was a complete shithole, there is no disputing that.

Boston? Same fucking thing. Diamond City is it, "Jewel of the Commonwealth?" It's a slightly bigger Megaton. The Pitt isn't developed for shit, it's got local industry going for sure, but it's a toxic inhospitable shithole that runs on slavery. Ronto is maybe the only implied big metro area that is developed (if it isn't nuked from orbit), and Great Lanta, if you consider Atlantic City a major metro area.

Broken Banks, if it becomes the Charleston area, maybe. But all we know is it is a decent trading hub along the southern coast, but it could a network of coastal island shacks turned into a post-war trade player, there is nothing to assume it was a major metropolitan city (which was the point of that argument to begin with: the erroneous assumption that development in the Fallout only occurs in pre-war metropolitan areas, is a meme).

And it's either very weak, or very strong, based on the specific attribute Ashur associates it with.

> Before that it was a complete shithole, there is no disputing that.
Except it had several larger towns, numerous smaller settlements, a large system of traders with an organized route that took them basically across the whole of the Capital Wasteland, and we know they did outside trade with The Commonwealth, The Broken Banks, and The Pitt.

Not to mention, the only town in any real danger is Big Town, and that was only recent.

Everyone likes to play up the super mutants and raiders, but everyone in Fallout 3 itself makes mention of how they aren't bothered by them for various reason.

The environment is shitty yes, but in terms of trade and shit its fine, same with The Commonwealth.

Tenpenny Tower is an exclusive resort set up by a rich fuck (relatively recently, too). Yeah people could live and survive in the D.C. ruins, as in all major metropolitan areas, but there is nowhere near the development of places like Shady Sands, the Hub, Vault City or even New Reno. Which were all either smaller cities, or GECK-produced new settlements. So again the whole idea that the only "development" can occur in big metropolitan areas is bullshit and not supported by the universe as depicted in games.

However, big metro areas do make good primary game locations, as I mentioned several posts back. This is why they are often mentioned and alluded too in-game. The have notoriety (both in the 4th wall by being known and relatable to the game's main market, and to the gameworld as being legendary cities of pre-war America). But this doesn't imply they would be the only places to be developed, or even particularly good places to develop. As I mentioned before, the only main economic resource is salvage and maybe finding recoverable and restorable pre-war technology and infrastructure.

>>174758908
By boat? There is no reason boats couldn't function reliably in the post-war world. Obviously fossil-fuel shits would have a hard time, but there is probably microcell type ships, maybe mutant sea algae biofuel, or just putting up a sail made from human skins of defeated rival ship crews? Getting around via sea is perfectly reasonable, and from most of pre-war game lore, it seemed Europe was a tapped-out shithole at Soylent Green levels even before the bombs fell, so I'm sure for adventuresome risk-takers, travelling to America (the objectively greatest and most advanced nation on the planet as of 2077) would be a reasonable decision.

Yes, I've stated that control vaults with GECKs are more important than being in a metropolitan area as far as post-war development. And yeah The Hub is a tiny little shithole in-game, but remember that was an entire CENTURY before FO3/NV/4. Considering how widespread the Caravans are and how integrated the trade companies are in the NCR government, it's safe to assume that The Hub is a much more prominent settlement as of the 2280s than we've seen it depicted.

I'm not saying the East Coast is shit or that the settlements in California didn't have ridiculous advantages (ton of GECKs and two generations of legendary heroes), I'm just saying the concept that development can only occur in metropolitan ruins, is incorrect and not supported by the gameworld at all. It's purely based out of assumptions and bias (since the gross majority of players are from one of the metropolitan megaregions).

(Neither am I saying that any pre-war small city or rural region would have it easy, they have their own issues too, climate changes and weather could be easily fatal, and isolation brings a myriad of problems to a subsitance population.)

I also understand that future Fallout games will start trending toward this bias; as I've mentioned metropolitan ruins generally make a good setting for type of game Fallout is. The only time a rural or wilderness setting will really work well for a Fallout game is if they make one in the old style with an overworld with more detailed localized scenes, so you cover longer timescales and geographical areas; but this will probably never happen. But metro ruins work for the relatively small, but contiguous hub, which seems to be the future of most video game RPGs; they have familiarity and notoriety, and have several competing factions within its locality.

The biggest problem I have with Fallout 1 and 2 is that the location of places like shady, and Vault City, don't make any sense.

The Vaults were designed to test people, which requires people reach them to be tested, but Vaults 8, 13, and 15 are all located in the middle of the desert, so far away from any sort of population center that, in all honestly, no one should have been able to reach them in time to not die.

Shady and Vault City not being located in metro areas is honestly the result of nonsensical shit from the first games which they couldn't simply retcon.

As a leaf, I can confirm (To)Ronto would be ignored by atomic fire. If it was a major arms manufacturer as mentioned in The Pitt DLC (and keeping in mind a longtime occupation by American military imperialism), it would have likely had the means of intercepting a direct warhead.

Can't say the same for Detroit & Hamilton..

Actually Ashur says that

>Our industry is the envy of the Commonwealth! Our safety is the envy of the Capital Wastes! Our might is the envy of Ronto!

He attributes one of those things to each of those three other areas.

Whats more, is that Ashur is clearly talking about what those places DO NOT have

-The Capital Wasteland is the biggest war torn hellhole on the east coast, and lacks safety(Whereas Ashur's raiders keep the people of The PItt safe from the Trogs)

-The Commonwealth lacks any sort of actual industry(Whereas Ashur's steel mill lets him make ammo)

-And going by the above Ronto has no might(while Ashur's huge raider/slaver army is probably the largest army on the east coast at the time)

You really can't seem to understand basic comparisons.

Any of the Midwest ones are pure conjecture at this point. Nothing in any of the 3D games gives the assumption that the MWBoS has even remotely the range of unified influence those assume.

Also the Legion one is a bit off, there would be way more routes in northern and western New Mexico, as Farmington and Shiprock are probably the most prominent farming settlements in Legion Domain, and Gallup being on the I-40 would be a prominent trade hub. Also southerly routes would probably go toward the Malpais region, through St. Johns and the upper Salt River basin. Also while going up I-25 along the Colorado Front Range is plausible, I think the Legion would've expanded up the Rio Grande into the San Luis Valley, and then follow Hwy-285 corridor into the Denver metro area. They were known to be in this area, as Twin Mothers is in the San Luis mountains, and they could've picked up their BoS captives around Buena Vista (although they could've picked them up around Vault0/Norad/Cheyenne Mt. in the Colorado Springs area too, although I always figured that city would've been one of the worst hit; lot of military installations in the area, so it's probably a major shithole you'd avoid if you weren't going for secret pre-war supercomputers or secret bunker shit anyway.

>>174763516
In a global nuclear exchange, you couldn't assume a major population center like Toronto would be ignored, even if it doesn't have major political or military installations. Ronto got nuked for sure, besides in the Fallout Universe it was the occupation capital.

>>174763321
Yeah actually the location of Vault City really annoys me. It would've made more sense if it was around the Lake Tahoe area, or in the mountains southwest of Reno, west of Carson City. Where it's at in-game is literal nothing mountains, I think it might even be in Indian Reservation in SW Idaho (not that the Federal Government of Fallout's USA would give two shits about injuns).

Soooo....does anyone have the foggiest idea as to why projectiles with alt trigger anywhere on them blow up under your feet as a missile? Even the vanilla MIRV addon for the Fatman does this, but it usually blows up before it can hit a wall. I don't really want my gun to do that though. Trigger on impact also doesn't seem to make the sub-projectiles come out either.

I tried lobber and that doesn't quite work well with the Super Plasma Cannon. It just shoots out a ball of plasma that bounces around and just sits there until it blows up. Kinda silly and not like what I'm trying to recreate.

I am actually kind of glad they did honestly.

While Bethesda has always added requested new features in every game they make, a large part of the modding community has still been just remaking the same mods, or similar mods, as were made for Morrowind, just updated for the newest game.

Now that they have all of this shit built for Fallout 4, and we will likely get a lot of it in TES 6 as well, that means we wont have to keep making those same mods over and over, and MAYBE we can force people to come up with new ideas

I fixed it! Randomly even! I tried everything else I could, so I randomly set the sub projectiles to cone...and that fixed all of the problems. No other projectile in the game uses cone projectile that I know of, but its the only other type on the drop down menu that works.

So basically this is how this works:

Main projectile explosion - Huge, about Fatman sized
Sub-projectile explosion (10 of them) in random directions - About half fatman sized
Sub-sub projectile explosion (20 of them from each sub-projectile explosion) in random directions - About 1/4 fatman sized

With two-shot this can get a bit laggy so I might lower the spawned projectile counts by a half, I dunno.

Semi automatic

Mods upgrade it to

FULLY automatic
20 missile capacity
Cluster break-apart heat seeking missiles (breaks into 6 smaller heat seeking missiles)

So basically if you fire it a lot the entire screen will be filled with lots of tiny missiles chasing enemies. I might also give it a unique computerized scope that locks onto *every* enemy on the screen at once so it sends the missiles everywhere instead of just one guy

Before I leave, I parcel out a field kit of exactly 20 units of water, 10 units of food (or 20 of the kind that needs two servings to fill you up from peckish like mutt chops), no more than 5 of each chem, 15 stims, 500 ammunition for my main weapon, 5 landmines, 10 grenades, 2 full fusion cores and 1 partially used core. 1 go to magic effect

2 make a copy of AshPileOnDeathEffect

3 change the values i underline, to whats underlined

4 in the case of the grenade, find the object effect EnchPlasmaGrenadeEnergyDmg and add the entry you made like so.

5 object effects can be added to explosions and what not, like on the plasma grenade explosion, i think you can take it from there.

Thanks man. That will definitely come in handy when I'm doing all the polishing. I don't use Xedit much so I might try that in the CK, but if I can't, I'll have to figure out how Xedit works...its a bit different from Ck and I'm worried that I'll fuck up big time since it loads like everything else doesn't it?

I'm really close now to having 95% of the mod done, I just have to do the textures, edit a few sounds, and make the store section, plus make a few legendary types. Oh, and leveled lists. I haven't messed with leveled lists in quite a long time (Since Skyrim days) so I might be a bit fuzzy on that.

If you loaded 'muh plasma caster.esp', it would just load up files edited or created specifically for that mod in it's drop down. The main game file and any DLC's with assets used in the mod will load too, and you can access anything you need from them. To edit a new file, right click on it and hit 'copy as override into...' and change values as you see fit from there.

Xedit like never crashes, ive never had it corrupt anything, like the huge mod in the picture, thats 1 module out of like 7 in the complete mod. If you don't want it to save anything you have done, hit the X in the corner, and just uncheck the ESP in the box that comes up.

Nah, nah, you've got it all wrong. The T-60 was the basis for the power armor from Tactics, which is only used by the Midwest BoS. The East Coast BoS probably found the schematics for the T-60 somewhere in the Capitol Wasteland or the Commonwealth, and have been building their own suits. T-60 itself being a prototype upgrade of the T-45 (hence the messy, unfinished-looking mid section), and was being tested in crowd control operations in Boston.

I made a unique Jetpack that doesn't drain AP, allows you to jump even higher, but drains fusion cores as fast as it used to drain your AP

I dunno if I'll keep that effect, but with the max perk in Nuclear physicist, if you just hold it down, it will drain a Fusion core completely in around 10 seconds. And thats with continuous holding it down. So IDK, it seems kinda balanced if you use it sensibly and have tons of Fusion cores. I'm also going to make a new Fusion core type that you can purchase and craft with a buttload of health.

I'll make it cost 50,000 (or 100,000) caps to purchase (only one at a time) at Plas-mans shop, or 100 fusion cores + some other materials will make a Core with 100,000 health. With perks that would be 150,000 I think? Or maybe more. Stronger than the sum of its parts by about 50%, but the kicker is, it requires a hundred fusion cores. It will also look like the back part of the Remnant armor from NV when installed. This will basically be a tiny nuclear reactor like that thing used to power liberty prime or the Institute. I know Fusion cores are already that, but this will be a much more potent version.

I have more stuff but I don't feel like checking. As for looting I don't do it much anymore, I only grab heavy combat armor, ammo, drugs, Gauss rifles and sometimes I won't even grab the ammo unless it's something I use a lot or missiles.

This is more Bethesda's fault than yours, but...why didn't the BoS just repair the Enclave shit and use it?

X-01's all over the place, and the BoS won't use it? Is it taboo because its Enclave in their silly rules? The Institute is the only faction with an X-01 paintjob, too!

Really, more X-02 suits all over the place, but I get your point. Of course, the BoS doesn't use plasma weaponry either, even after the wealth of it that they would have acquired from the Enclave as well.
Probably just file it under "Bethesda lore fuckery because they dgaf" and move on.

I'm fine tuning some minor things, and working on some media bs to help sell it. Its a game play overhaul, levels calling removed, plays like a """""realistic"""" fps, literally to much to list, readme i just finished up is 20 pages long.

tomorrow i might seek beta testers, if there is any interest, about to go to bed.

I made a vid of some gameplay carnage with WOTC installed and set to max.

I think it would be better to have an entirely different sub-section with its own Files of the month and hot files just for adult mods and waifu mods.

That way GOOD mods get FOTM instead of losing to titties. I still remember one of those titty modding Divas getting indignant that Trainwiz was beating one of their mods for FOTM.

But yeah its really not fair to have gun mods / quest mods and tit mods in the same category.

Boomer artillery would still push their shit in.

Lyons would have remained at lost hills, making the BoS contingent in NCR territory a lot stronger.

The Enclave purges mutants in the Capital Wasteland without BoS interference. They have orbital lasers, a crawling base and Liberty Prime under the direct control of Eden AI. They can even quickly train new recruits from vault populations, thanks to Anchorage simulators.

To continue:

No BoS in the Commonwealth. Enclave arrives in Commonwealth as liberators. Purges Railroad. Teams up with Institute. Replaces NCR government with compliant synths, in fact, their go-to method of conquest becomes replacing leaders with synths then allowing the Enclave to march in through the front gates while their army stands down.

Eden takes mankind into space. Plays baseball on the moon. Makes Mars Shot project a priority so he can play baseball on Mars by 2920. Eden has his AI downloaded into a synth body, becomes the Eternal God Emperor of Mankind, rules for a million years.

Hmm...for the plasma beam, after I did those edits, it seems like it has a 60% chance of gooifying now. But not 100%.

Am I supposed to apply to to the Omod or the explosion? Both? The beam has a mini explosion for aim assist. I can't get the actual explodey ones to gooify hardly at all with this.

No, Autumn had no interference the first time around. He had the codes to destroy Eden the entire time. As the Enclave now controls the Citadel, the LW has nowhere do go after James' death, never finds the location of the GECK and is never taken to Raven Rock. The LW later dies to an Enclave controlled Liberty Prime when he tries to retake the Purifier.

Depends on the mod and what it altered. Uninstall everything through a mod organizer, load a save, save the game without mods. Some mods have special uninstall instructions you might need to run through, usually mod authors include a holotape in game which you may need to run, in game, before uninstalling.

Run around and check a few things out on the blank save. Go in the data folder, delete anything that is obviously a mod, that the uninstall left behind. Check the game again, you should be good to go.

If you are uninstalling, delete everything in the data folder that was left behind, before reinstalling. You should not need to do a fresh install unless you fucked up your game with mods that don't uninstall properly or overwrote base game files.

The humor of the Institute is that they made everything, but all they made had already been made. And they are basically Apple. Design and ideology-wise, they are Apple. They copy and half-ass. Their teleporter is a transmat beam where Big MT managed a spacial displacement transporter. Their "sentient robots" are just 3d printed humans, where pre-war robots have managed to achieve self-awareness. Their super mutants don't even possess the outlier of stable intelligence found even with Vault 87's uncontrolled experimentation.

A question to the local moders: how much work would a mod like this take ?

>rename all settlers to Made Man/Doll Face
>change their default equipment to tommy guns and sawed off shotguns and various triggermen and mob clothes
>change Preston's written name to Head Enforcer, have him start with in a black suit, fedora and with an upgrade tommy gun as default
>change all Minutemen NPCs in a similar way to the settlers but rename them Enforces
>flare gun summons a group of Mob Hitmen/Hitwomen dressed and armed like the above, with perhaps a light combat armor chest piece
>at higher level it also summons a guy called The Muscle in a black painted raider power armor and a bowler hat, armed with a baseball bat and some molotovs
>>
What mods would you guys recommend to make the gunplay the most realistic/unforgiving?
>>
>>174789559
That's funny to me because I remember being disappointed at not seeing a single Desert Ranger in New Vegas until I was at the Dam during the endgame.

In retrospect some middle-ground would be preferred. A majority of knights and regular paladins should have had T-45's and T-51's.

Giving a T-60 exclusively to Danse and other higher ranking paladins would have made the armor seem much more desirable.

As such making it the "main" suit of armor in Fallout 4 to where even the fucking Atom Cats have full suits of T-60's was almost as bad as Fallout Tactics suddenly adopting its Midwest power armor design out of nowhere and without any context as to how or why it replaced the older suits so completely.

So... why did Bethesda think it was a good idea to make Coursers less of a legitimate threat than higher-ranking Raiders?

I fail to see how anyone's supposed to be scared of the Institute when their best doesn't even match up to some drugged out wastelander warlord instead of being a literal one-man army that can punch through power armor with its bare hands.

I felt so bad after curbstomping that one Courser to get its signaling device to infiltrate the institute, because I deduced from what everyone said that I'd actually need power armor for the fight. What a joke.

In fact I felt SO bad about that I left my suit outside and redid the whole encounter in hopes that there would be more to it assuming I was out of armor and was... even more disappointed by how easy it still was.

Well, do you think they have the right equipment to produce spare parts for those power armors and plasma weapons ? Sure, the equipment is newer and better but that also often means it's internals are more delicate and maintenance heavy. Most places that could probably produce them, like Raven Rock, went up in flames.

On the other hand everything that was needed to maintain, repair and restock pre-war equipment can be salvaged or produced using pre-war machines.

How so ? The only times Raiders are threats at higher levels are if they have explosives. Otherwise a Courser has high HP and can turn invisible.

Still, everything comes down to the fact it's an RPG meaning that as you level up both you and enemies turn into bullet sponges.

Ive had this Idea for complete story change for fallout 4.

So instead of the Institute focusing on cybernetics and synths as the next phase of human evolution, they spend all their time working on biological research and creating psykers. People are abducted thought the wasteland and experimented on to find the apparent next step in human evolution. The game's main plot would be that a psyker used his power to escape and now hundreds of test subjects are running around the wasteland causing havoc with the abilities they cannot control. People through the wasteland begin to worry that the people in their settlements are psykers and witch hunts spread across Boston.

how do you deal with fighting hostiles in fallout2?

i played f1 for the first time a couple of week ago and finished it with a lot of fighting when necessary.
now i started fallout 2 last week and i get the feeling all the hostile encounters are made for you to run away or bring companions later, encountering a dozen of raiders/slaver/animals all alone every time.

i have 4 companion with me and they all seems to be clinically retarded when it comes to fight,
there's always someone that just accidentally shoot each other or seems to run back and forth without even giving the specific combat control like "snipe them" or "charge".
in summary having companions made the experience worse than playing alone in fallout 1.

can't even beat human hostiles alone anymore since they are all dangerously armed abusing burst fire mode and pretty much everywhere on the map in numerous quantity compared to fallout 1

More Institute departments and projects would have been cool. A Fringe Science division filled with kooks could have been interesting, especially as an homage to old sci fi or even declassified Cold War experiments.

People in the wasteland are starving to death and they're out ghosthunting 'haunted' houses with high tech recording equipment.
>Molerats again.

Ooh..Vampires! Nope, just mutant cannibals. >A stake through the heart kills them, but then that kills just about everything.

ESPer tests with flash cards. Remote viewing experiments. Sensory deprivation tanks. Mind control like enhanced mesmatrons, drugs and hypnotic suggestion.

Using FEV in an attempt to reanimate dead tissue. Hilarity ensues.

Of course, some real scary shit.
>Find out about a wastelander with 'powers'
>Go to capture her, she goes along willingly, she's not safe, she's worried about loved ones getting hurt.
>Run a whole heap of experiments. She's off the charts for telepathy, precognition, telekinesis.
>Strange power outages happen in the lab. Stuff gets moved around when no one is looking.
>Wastelander thinks she's possessed by a demon.
>Starts putting on weird voices during tests, taunts the scientists, uses powers to fuck with their heads and recording equipment.
>Department head has had enough, wants to 'terminate' experiment. Some scientists just think the wastelander is mentally ill and should be cared for, others in the department are creeped out and want the project stopped, or transferal to another department.
>Gassing doesn't work. She just played dead, crushed the synths sent in to clean the cell with her brain, while taunting the department head via camera, using a cruel nickname he was teased with as a child.
>Courser squad sent in to remove problem, fails, now all the power in the wing is out.
>Problem solved by filling entrance to the wing with concrete and welding a boiler plate over the door.

Odd. I really only have the plasma grenade goo anyone in my mod, i thought being shot by a tiny plasma bolt gooing someone entirely was stupid, yet being bathed in plasma grenade made you just fall over. I don't know why it would mater if the projectile is thrown or is fired by something.

1. See if you can make a plasma grenade function like it did in my webm, if it doesn't, we know something is fundamentally wrong with what you recreated. might just post a mod on nexus that is just plasma granade=goo, that 1 tiny little mod would probably will be a hot files ffs.

2. first try it on slightly smaller groups of targets, might be hardware limitations, cant run so many goo scripts at once.

3. make sure the flag 'ignore LOS check' is checked in any of your plasma related explosions, that makes it so anything in the radius is effected, another npc or a piece of cardboard in the way wont save your target from full effect.

4. try having your plasma explosion reference a 'blank explosion', look for one called a "ActorForce", copy and paste that, set the outer radius to be like 25% larger than the main explosion's radius, and put the goo object effect you made in that, instead of the base explosion.

things simply referencing a 'actor force' makes work that i've seen
- physics actually apply correctly
- damage dealt from an object effect can actually kill user and allies, npcs cant nuke themselves to no effect
- placed hazards like radiation last for more than .1 second
- you can cause an effect outside the visible explosion, like heat damage outside of a nuke blast

They started the Mojave campaign around the time Caesar first got started. The Mojave is big region and almost completely empty. No settlements, and very little water if any. For the NCR to conduct a campaign in that region would be a slow process; shipping in food and water, establishing forts to protect supply caches, and making quick raids against nomadic hostiles. Apparently it took almost 20 years for them to established a reliable supply line to Bullhead (the establishment of Bullhead as an NCR hub marked the "Pacification of the Mojave" region and gave Kimball a lot of political capital, as he was the commanding general at the time).

The NCR also, from FO2, seemed to prefer expanding through being The Eternal Anglo of the Fallout Post-apocalypse; they expanded through bringing in known trading settlements into their fold, or through controlling interest in settlements with some commercial resource. Expanding into an empty, desolate region with no known trade potential or resources isn't high on their priority list, especially not at the time you are inquiring about.

I thought Yao Guai and Mirelurks in FO3 were good. Fast, tough, mean, and believable threats, but also with weaknesses and could be defeated with cunning or firepower. Good mid-level threats from both gameplay and world immersion viewpoints.

I know this is about the Fallout videogames but your opinion would be really appreciated.

I'm working on a Fallout themed roleplaying game and I was thinking of adding a raider gang that uses Nuka-Cola Quantum mixed with ink to tattoo themselves. The tattoos makes them go full crazy and have hallucinations, which makes them be extremely violent and slightly radiactive. They would look somewhat like pic related.

Would it fit with the Fallout theme or be way too out?

Even if MZ is canon, what implies that Aliens caused the Great War? Because of a cut holotape about a single person being interogated about nuclear launch codes? That could just as easily imply the opposite, that the aliens wanted to stop the Great War by overwriting the launches. How would a smoldering atomic ruin be more valuable to them than a planet full of pliable, easily manipulated slave and biological stock? Bitching about Mothership Zeta is like bitching about Fallout 3 implying arm-mounted Pip-Boys can't be voluntarily removed ever, because of one statement by a unappreciative technician being snarky to a bratty kid. Wrong, it had the aliens torturing him because he wasn't talking into the mic.

If you listen to all the other audio tapes, the aliens torture ANYONE who don't talk into the mic because they wanted a voice sample.

This entire argument is based on you taking that one holotape out of context of all the others, which clearly show that the abudcted have no idea what the aliens want, and are makign guesses.

The dude with the launch codes just ASSUMES the aliens want the codes, but nothing suggests they do, and all the other tapes suggest they just want him to say something as a voice print.

Actually, Myron states in Fallout 2 that jet is the result of pre-war drug companies feeding cows a contaminated protein extract that made their shit really really potent for use as a drug.

Myron also states that its so potent that people simply working in brahmin pens were getting high from the fumes without having to even directly huff the shit.

Given that this was ture of pre-war cows as well, the likelyhood that no one pre-war discovered this, and tired to sell it, is zero.

Whats more is that Mrs Bishop states she got kicked out of Vault City for using jet years before Myron supposedly made it.

Myron only "made" jet as in found the way to remake it.

His story has some clear holes in it.

Sure there would you fucking moron. Hes a high ranking military officer with codes to America's nuclear launch capabilities who was abducted by aliens. He would naturally assume that they wanted the information he had, and as they kept stunning him for not talking, he assumed they wanted the most valuable info he knew.

I meant the aliens didn't care about the codes.

>and if they couldn't understand him they wouldn't have been talking to him.
Wrong, as seen in the other holotapes, they get everyone they abduct to leave a voice message as a sort of "tag" for the specimen

The AYYs don't care about anything specific the person has to say they just want them to talk.

This sentence right here is why I think people that complain about the "scary sci-fi dystopian fascist" look of the riot gear are idiots. They don't seem to get that's exactly their purpose -- the people wearing them weren't good guy cops, they were practically SS troops expected to put down their own people on the civilian side . Strong-armed moral-free Police, sometimes military but not necessarily. This was best demonstrated in the logs found around the Divide when you realize they were used to "pacify" large groups of peaceful protesters.

It served a function, and the effect was largely psychological. That the figure is just as intimidating to raiders, post-apocalyptic dissenters, and even legionnaires is why the NCR flaunts their black armor as "prestigious".

Yeah, how dumb of me to take an actual transcript of cut audio at face value with a launch officer LITERALLY saying "get out of my head, I can't let you get the launch codes."

It so demonstrably proves what I'm saying it's almost mind boggling that someone is taking issue with it and suggesting I have to somehow think it's something completely different than what it is.

I've asked you multiple times what "get out of my head" and "I can't let you get the codes" means to you, but never got a clear answer. looking up allesian slave wars but i'm not seeing much, can't find any references on uesp or the imperial library. i found allesian slave rebellion is that what you meant?

what i'm saying about the worship of the aedra is that there is no cultural heritage if they all worship the same gods. if you extend this logic to all the other races then you'd just have a homogenous religion with no unique differences in worship ie rituals rites of passage or burials even. it doesn't make sense to have them practice the same religion but act different for major parts of life.

>Could be, but again. Aliens should not be in the game.
>I'm not the one shitting on an entire game, that's you. If you find any of the original Fallout games "overrated" clearly this general should not be for you save for the fact it's a de facto Fallout 4 waifu screenshot general.
I like how you get defensive because I was being facetious about FO2 (although it is overrated), especially considering your first statement. Guess what asshole, the mass majority of petty shit Bethesda includes in their games that pisses you NMA fucks off to no end, was shit that FALLOUT 2 SET PRECEDENCE FOR IN THE UNIVERSE. Sure you can handwave it away as being "random encounters" or "easter eggs", but that bloated overrated less-balanced rehash of FO1 was still the precedence for a lot of bullshit in the universe lore, and the fact that you're always so quick to hate Bethesda but so willing to defend FO2 to the death makes you all autistic hypocrites.

FO1>FOT>>>>>>>>>>>>FO2 as far as the classics goes. If you want to know my general opinion of the Fallout Games, then it's FO1>NV>=FO3>FOT>FO2>FO4. As far as most time playing, it's NV>FO3>FO2>FOT>FO1>FO4

Ironically, I did make that post you're quoting, and am one of the people who dislike NCR Ranger Helmet for being "generic and dystopian". Not that it doesn't have function though, I just dislike it from a purely aesthetic stance (I'm also not really fan of MWBoS PA either). I was simply making a statement on how the MWBoS PA would fit the gameworld as to the function of it's design.

>what i'm saying about the worship of the aedra is that there is no cultural heritage if they all worship the same gods.
Its almost like after spending thousands of years part of an empire that has enforced multi cultural tolerance and understanding that unique cultural values would degrade and be replaced with the more homogized and accepted mass religion.

Its almost like real life, where smaller ghettos of people, like China Towns, are often more traditionally Chinese then people in China themselves since China, as a country, has gotten rid of many ancient tradition in favor of more global ones.

You are literally complaining that TES is being logical about its portrayal of cultural decay.

Some of the decisions with the Fallout 2 Restoration Project fucking boggle me. They removed the Raider Camp from the map unless you go and crack Bishop's Safe. You'd have no fucking idea to do this unless you were running a klepto playthrough, and so it effectively shutters an entire quest chain and renders every walkthrough useless.

Normally you find the cave, kill the raiders, and then find papers implicating Bishop. Now it doesn't even show up.

>How autistic do you have to be to care about this shit?

How is this even an argument? I can say the same about anyone who voluntarily comes to a tibetan fly fishing forum to discuss anything.

I already explained to you my position is this was cut from MZ because someone with some sense from Bethesda (highly unlikely) thought of the implications of the audio log and had it removed. It all goes to show that Bethesda intended for this to be in the DLC and intended to have you GASP and say "mabe alium did the thign!"

Why is the implication that aliens started a war bad?
>>
>>174827279
The main theme of fallout is war is bad and humans need to not be shits to survive. Having it so the war that cause all the troubles be sparked by NOT humans but ALIENS cheapens it. All for a funny alien meme. This is the kind of shit the retards at bethesda thinks are good ideas.
>>
>>174827279
Makes all the point moot. Fallout its all about human nature and how no matter what humanity will always repeat the mistakes of the past.

Even with a ravaged earth there are nations fighting for resources and willing to use nukes. People haven't learned jack shit.

If the Ayyys started the war then its all moot. Humanity isn't the real cause of all the misery they are suffering. Besides it makes it lame, the aliens cause it all and then do nothing? Just see how the rest of the humans kill each other? Why?
>>
>>174827664
>The main theme of fallout is war is bad

Gonna stop you right there. The main theme of Fallout is that war is human nature. War never changes. It's why the BoS are luddites, because they want to minimize the damage from conflict. It's why the Master wants to create a new race, to replace humanity.

So why is the implication that aliens started the war bad?

You just answered your own question. The war is the backdrop of all the games. If that war wasn't cause by humans then what is the point of having it as a setting in conjuncture to it's theme? It causes a separation that cheapens the whole setting.
>>
>>174828340
Exactly. Aliens figure out humans are assholes, so they get them to kill each other.

>>
>>174828953
How so? If aliens exist in reality, then they are likely to be the dominant species of their planet, assuming they are anything like us. So you have a bunch of clever, tool-using assholes that clubbed and stabbed their way to the top of the food chain.

You think their first contact with another species will be a kind and optimistic greeting? Consider what you know of human history, where one advanced culture encountered a primitive culture. It never goes well for the primitive culture, because they can't stand up to iron weapons, sophisticated tactics, projectile weapons, artillery, attack planes and so on.

Now assume that modern America discovers a bunch of violent retards living in Antartica. They're violent. They're retards. Somehow they have managed to advance technologically and they are a couple of years away from developing aircraft and nuclear weapons capable of reaching America. What does America do? Leave them alone? Send a welcoming committee to get them to join the UN? Bomb the shit out of them before they destabilize the planet?

Now imagine this on a galactic scale. Only it's humans that are the violent retards and they are decades away from interplanetary space flight and are capable of launching nuclear rockets into space. What do the Zetans do?

The smart thing to do is shoot first.

Not even a made up scenario. There were scientists arguing against sending the voyager probe out into space for that very reason.

Until humans get off planet, we're a sitting duck. Logistically, alien invasion is improbable. What's more likely is relativistic weapons blowing the planet out of the sky.

It's the Central Park at Night scenario, only the Park is the size of the universe and the night never ends. You do not draw attention to yourself and if someone else draws attention to themselves, you're better off shooting first than taking a chance by giving your position away to a stranger.

Such a coddled little child, all safe and secure. The paranoid mindset if what kept humans alive for the last 100,000 years. Ignore potential threats at your peril.

>>
>>174828153
I don't think it is necessarily, my problem with this bullshit argument is that the MZ cut content implies the aliens started the war. It is a massive stretch and assumption in the first place. There is no other content to support the alien's motives or endgame, and in fact the rest of the game universe implies that the aliens would've wanted to avoid the great war more than anything.

If the aliens wanted to start the Great War, the main reason to do so would be to get rid of most of humanity, so there would be little resistance. So why, after 200 years, are there not alien colonies all over the wasteland terraforming the planet to their needs? The only thing the aliens seem to do is experiment and study on Earth creature biology. And wiping out a good portion of life on the planet seems to go against this idea, especially in the Fallout Universe, the Earth is a resource-depleted shell drained by human civilization. The primary interest and resource an alien civilization would want with the planet is it's biological stock (for enslaving or modifying), and that seems to be the primary focus of the aliens behavior.

So the cut holotape was contextually ambiguous anyway, so that was probably why it was cut. The fact it's being used and discussed in this thread is bullshit anyway as it's from an entry-level NMA shitpost, they often go for MZ and aliens in general as being a keypoint reason why Bethesda is killing Fallout. This instance is particularly ironic, as they claim a piece of ambiguous cut content has more strength toward canon (as it's Bethesda's fault) confirming aliens, but somehow an actual game event in the finished product (UFO encounter in FO2), doesn't count because it was just a "random encounter" or "easter egg".

>>174831957
>So why, after 200 years
You're thinking in human terms. You don't know the biological capacities of the Zetans or their mindset. Maybe they're long-lived and taking their time. They had a samurai on board, so they've been around for longer than 200 years, closer to a thousand. Also, they wear space suits, so perhaps there is something in the earth environment they can't habituate to. Finally, the Zetan lab had some kind of human hybrid. Perhaps the development of the hybrid was part of their colonization plan.

I'm just asking why the fags hate ayys so much. I was probably expecting too much by hoping for some sophisticated reasoning behind the outrage. I don't care, one way or the other. Video games are not art.

Not to mention that despite 6 canonal games in the series, we still don't really know shit about the pre-war world outside of military/corporate experiments.

Fallout 4 probably did more then all the other games combined to establish pre-war culture outside of corporate military and government abuse by taking shit like Nuka-Cola, and comic books like Groknak, and the Silver Shroud, and greatly expanding on them, and making the Giddyup Buttercup toy Fallout's equivalent of My Little Pony.

So really when doing a pre-war amusement park all they really had to go on was Nuka-Cola or the poorly defined super hero comic books.

And the former was easier, and fits with shit like Hershey park

>>
>>174833863
That would get boring fast as Far Harbor and Point Lookout work due to being small areas.

Also, Far Harbor and Point Lookout had some pretty shityy quests.

90% of Far Harbor's quests were just
>go here
>hill X
>return with Y

Like all the base game quests
>>
Mothership Zeta and Old World blues were relatively isolated enough that you consider them non-canon.

to make them canon is fucking retarded in my opinion, though Fallout 4 seems to be thinking along those lines
>>
>>174833272
You know, besides pointing out that I am incorrectly assuming the aliens timescale, your post basically affirms all my arguments. Everything depicted about the aliens in MZ affirms that their primary interest in Earth is biological or genetic engineering. So why would they want to start the great war and wipe out so much subject matter? I hate the implication that the aliens started the great war, not only because it's only source is an ambigious, out-of-context holotape of a random interrogation, but also that it's cut content in the first place. This whole argument is only brought up anyway because people use the aliens and MZ as a cheap shot to rip on Bethesda (despite aliens being established in the game universe in FO2).

True, but to be fair Fallout isn't about the Pre-war, it's about the Wasteland. The relative ambiguity of Pre-War culture is good, as it's only use is what distortion it has on Post-War development.

yeah I'll never forget the angst over the MLP references back when it was the scourge, both over real references and speculative ones

speaking of the past, I was kind of hoping for the Memory Den to let you get a glimpse of what stuff was like in the way back then, in the form of mundane shit like your character reliving a meeting at work or something.

but I guess going into the mind of a killer for 10 minutes and throwing away a potential 'his personality has possessed your robot friends body' plot was considered good enough for them.
>>
>>174834807
>I never even implied that....
>Bethesda has no plans to go to Florida, but wanted to do a Disney World DLC at some point
That doesn't imply what you seem to think it does.

All that it implies is that Nuka-World, which is clearly named after, and modeled after, Disney World, being done in a game set in Boston, largely implies that Bethesda will probably not go to Florida.

Nowhere does that imply that amusement parks in general are Disney's creation.
>>
>>174834894
fallout has crazy shit.

but there's a difference between "funny random encounter-thing" and stuff that actually effects the world/setting-canon..

Basically I see OWB's and MZ as sort of extended random encounters.
>>
>>174834915
>and throwing away a potential 'his personality has possessed your robot friends body' plot
There was never such a plot.

Amari even tells you before you talk to Nick that echos of Kellog's memories will remain in Nick for a very short time before dissipating.

It's a jump scare where they premitively tell you that it will happen.

>speaking of the past, I was kind of hoping for the Memory Den to let you get a glimpse of what stuff was like in the way back then, in the form of mundane shit like your character reliving a meeting at work or something.
That would be stupid and ruin the whole point.
>>
>>174835060
I said you had no issues with your general argument, but considering in your view, the entirety of Nuka World is based off Disney World is a bit silly. Crazy Industralist nutjobs are always around, and amusement parks are around to, and completely independent of Disney. You're the one that brought up Disney World to promote your argument that Florida won't be a future Fallout game setting (something I don't dispute, although I doubt it would be for your reasons). Also my rant was more a cultural sidebar, as I feel strongly that Disney is culturally insidious at almost every level of the entertainment and hospitality industries.
>>
>>174835221
I think that's stupid.

Those sorts of things should never be the primary focus of something like a vanilla game, but that sort of absurd shit does happen in canon, outside of random encounters, and does need to be addressed at some point or another.
>>

>but considering in your view, the entirety of Nuka World is based off Disney World is a bit silly
How is that silly?

IIRC, Bethesda even admitted it.

It's not even my view that it is, its well known and talked about. The wikis even have a point by point breakdown of how Nuka world is one giant copy of Disney World

Everytime I hear some nerd saying melee and unarmed has no place in sci-fi with guns like Fallout, I like to go back and think about this comic

Maybe a little over the top, but considering that I had a character in Fallout 3 and then NV that could take shots from missile launchers to the face, calmly walk up to enemies and then punch them into exploding entrails and subsequently even MORE of an invincible close combat asshole in 4, it feels apt

>>174837009
I feel you, though I tend to design my characters as some strict glass cannons with hit and run attacks and waiting for reloads before attacking. max melee, wear minimal armor and really get the set completed when a Super Sledge is acquired

or just use sneak. though that gets boring after awhile and it's only slightly more respectable than stealth sniping.
>>
>>174837009
Yeah it's a bit silly. Especially when cybernetic augmentation shows up. Shame you can't get it done in FO4 because reasons.

I really like the very likely unintended ramifications of what The Pitt DLC showed us.

Specifically, The Pitt showed us that the Ohio, Allegheny, and Monongahela, rivers as being highly radioactive, giving off hundreds of rads a second, that makes the outside of Vault 87 look take by comparison.

These three rivers, the Ohio river especially, tough many states including Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana, and Illinois.

If the Ohio river is that toxic at The Pitt from factory runoff, I can't imagine how much worse it is downstream where other Midwestern cities dumped their toxic shit into it also.

Not to mention that the Ohio river goes through several major cities like Cincinnati, and Louisville, cities that have to be in just as sorry of a state as The Pitt is.

Not to mention how much that radioactivity has likely effected the Mississippi river, which the Ohio river drains into.

The toxic runoff is likely diluted by fresher water coming in from the Mississippi river's western tributaries, but even still, that shit could be effecting Memphis, Baton Rouge, and New Orleans
>>
>>174837009
Except in the Fallout universe guns can be flaky and unreliable. Also there is obvious potential for scarcity of ammunition for both convential and energy ranged weapons. So melee and unarmed combat easily has place in the universe. It's debateable how well it is implimented at times, though.

Also there are sci-fi universes with projectile (and even energy) weapons where close melee combat is important for a variety of reasons. I always thought Dune did it the best, they had shielding that made projectile weapons relatively useless, and would make energy weapons dangerous to use against. So projectile weapons and energy weapons would be useful against peasants and low-grade enemies (or from afar if you really wanted to fuck something up), warrior-to-warrior combat was usually solved via close-combat with melee weapons.

>If the Ohio river is that toxic at The Pitt from factory runoff, I can't imagine how much worse it is downstream where other Midwestern cities dumped their toxic shit into it also.
I think that's an incorrect assumption. Sure toxic, radioactive sludge from the Pitt would affect the Ohio river basin, probably the whole thing, but it would likely get better as you got farther from the Pitt, and tributaries downstream in Indiana and Illinois feed into it. It's still probably shitty along it's whole basin, and has a negative effect on the Mississippi, but at longer distances it will be diluted.

I agree with you in general though, I think The Pitt is interesting, and the implications of what Ashur has done with it does effect that region in a potentially interesting way. And the idea of the Ohio river being a nasty hazardous river is great in general, I like the wasteland having a lot of environmental hazards, as the wasteland itself should be the real antagonist of the Fallout series.

Given that the Midwest in general is called the "Rust Belt" for a reason, I would suspect that the factories of Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois, would also be dumping into the Ohio via tributaries.

Good enough for me to just be a slowly-mutating superhuman tougher than an actual tank, honestly. I felt like playing that sort of character archetype in every game in the series (even Tactics) the moment I witnessed Frank Horrigan take a p94 winchester blast to the chest and chuckle as a BoS Paladin pissed himself, moments before bitch slapping him so hard his upper body came apart like a piñata.

It's generally more satisfying to me to just be the impossibly tough melee bastard than to be a ninja.

The series as a whole is full of enemies that exemplify these traits too and they're always scary as all hell, though they're almost never human. Deathclaws are the most feared predators in the wasteland, and when Fallout 4 introduced Assaultrons, you know the fear was real in that first low-level encounter with just a peashooter. Later you become very adept at gunning these things down if you're so inclined, but for me it's just immensely satisfying being able to take them apart in the close combat they specialize in, pure mano a mano macho bullshit.

I VERY highly doubt we will get a Fallout game set in the Midwest.

The reason being, as much as we like to shit over BEthesda for ruining the lore, and raping the series, Bethesda has made it clear they respect the areas already covered by other devlopers, and largely want to leave them alone.

Both Bethesda and Obsidian have said Beth are east coast guys(due to Beth being in Maryland) and Obsidian are west coast guys(due to Obsidian being in Cali) and that both are fine with that.

Whats more is that, during the making of New Vegas, Bethesda let Obsidian do whatever they wanted with the western U.S.(and not just the west coast) reaffirming that.

The same also largely holds true for the Midwest, both Bethesda and Obsidian very hesitant at talking about the Midwest too much, besides confirming that Tactics happened to some extent.

Even during The Pitt DLC, Ashur compares his city of D.C., Boston, and Toronto, but makes no mention of places like Cleveland, Cincinnati, or even Chicago, which are as close, and in Chicago's case closer to Pittsburgh then Boston is.

Its not surprising that this happened givens that, by census designations, the Pennsylvania/Ohio border is the offical border between the east and Midwest.

I very highly doubt Bethesda will ever go into the Midwest themselves, and I honestly fully expect them to keep it as sort of a "here be dragons!" land.

I don't see where else they would go besides some southern coastal states. Florida might be nice, but I've always wanted the Fallout series to stick relatively close to the South West.

>>174845827
New Orleans, Miami, one of the big Texas cities.

> but I've always wanted the Fallout series to stick relatively close to the South West.
That would be boring.

Denver, Salt Lake City, Tuscon/Phoenix, all of them are large cities, but none of them have the sort of iconography as places like D.C., Vegas, and Boston do.

Even Van Buren was only going to offer small slices of these cities because they weren't that interesting by themselves.

It's not surprising that Obsidian
-Made Denver and its surrounding areas abandoned by humans and overrun by dogs
-Entirely destroyed Salt Lake City during the war
-Made Tuscon and Phoenix as really shitty(even worse then D.C.) areas that were conquered by The Legion and are JUST towns.

There really isn't anywhere else to go in the southwest.

Fallout 1, 2, and New Vegas covered everything that mattered

Is there a mod that adds saving only by resting in a bed in New Vegas?

Found one called "No Second Chances" which -- while looking good on paper -- apparently has a feature even on its easiest mode, if you die that's it. Your save is rendered inoperable. A true ironman mode, if you will. Makes sense given the name.

Since I'm playing Dust I'm looking for something that is a lot less prone to fucking my ass over completely. At this point I've made four new characters, died immediately upon existing the starting point, and been unable to load a save.

Not to mention, going to the Midwest would mean having to sort out the mess that is the Midwestern Brotherhood, who, in every end of Tactics, become a rather large power with a firm hold over the region.

Since its been early 100 years since the end of Tactics, I would assume the Midwest is probably better off then even the NCR is at this point.

Unless the NCR has a complete victory in the Mojave, it's certainly possible California would experience a civil war by 2300. While the NCR itself is somewhat robust, and the settlements and peoples are resourceful and scrappy, there are a lot of political, social, and economic problems at all levels of the NCR.

>>174848023
You could do an entire game in The Boneyard, either working with the security forces to clean up criminal and outlaw elements in the ruins of LA, or be a ruins rat taking over and consolidating gangs in the Boneyard enough to make Adytum sweat. You could instigate (or uncover) a conspiracy to radicalize young Followers students to become more violent against the bureaucratic NCR, or some settlers rebuilding undeveloped areas of the Boneyard might accidently activate an old pre-war mainframe which "wakes up", sees shit gone to hell, and activate a robot infestation on the region. Lost forgotten vault full of stealthy, agile, and intelligent cannibals. Shi contingents settling Santa Barbara or Malibu, having beef with locals which could escalate in war with the NCR. You could do so much just in The Boneyard, and even if the game is a fairly cliche ridden generic storyline or plot, as long as the gameworld is designed well, it would be worth it, as being in a 3D depiction of The Boneyard as it has been described would be cool as fuck on it's own.

Plenty of more stuff could be a game in NCR region though: you could have a game around being a mercenary involved in a beef between Brahmin Barons, or Merchant Companies (as both of those types of factions have been shown to get openly violent if it profits them). You could remake the game Red Dead Redemption, put it in the NCR around 2290, and it'd work. A giant cargo ship originally from Australia crashes into the California coast, unleashing mutant dropbears and shitposters which decimate the region. Plenty of stuff you can fill in.

That would make sense decades ago, but now, that doesn't make any sense.

>You could instigate (or uncover) a conspiracy to radicalize young Followers students to become more violent against the bureaucratic NCR
And you really think that would be considered a credible threat for a game narrative?

> or some settlers rebuilding undeveloped areas of the Boneyard might accidently activate an old pre-war mainframe which "wakes up", sees shit gone to hell, and activate a robot infestation on the region

>Lost forgotten vault full of stealthy, agile, and intelligent cannibals.
This is stupid, no really, this is just hilarious dumb, and wouldn't be a threat.

>Shi contingents settling Santa Barbara or Malibu, having beef with locals which could escalate in war with the NCR.
The Shi are nowhere near powerful enough to go to war with the NCR.

Not really, everything you just listed either makes no sense, or wouldn't be a credible threat.

>Since its been early 100 years since the end of Tactics, I would assume the Midwest is probably better off then even the NCR is at this point.

That depends on the ending they got. The ones where the Warrior sacrifices themselves are basically "everything is awesome, you're the man", but Barnaky's is so relentlessly brutal that it's likely to tear itself apart, and the one where the Calculator is destroyed seems like it's going to turn out alright in the long run, but at that point the MwBoS will be basically unrecognizable.

>>
>>174850651
>I would assume the Midwest is probably better off then even the NCR is at this point.
I doubt it, the idea that radioactive dust storms plague the great plains would mean it's possible some settlements can become isolated for days or weeks at a time. Also the west coast had two generations of legendary heroes, and several known working GECKs.

Also, while the MWBoS ended on a high note, that was 80+ years ago, and the last mentions of that area basically consider it unremarkable, with some BoS presence, but also the most recent mentions of the area imply Enclave presence in Chicago. If that's the case, the Enclave would either be usurping power from a declining MWBoS, or keeping their heads down and manipulating internal factions of the MWBoS. Also the fairly radical cultural change of the MWBoS might hurt them in the long run; recruiting mutants and locals early on was practical for their needs at the time, but as the threat diminished, I could see more "purest" Brotherhood members becoming discontent with some of the changes, and cause a severe cultural schism within the MWBoS faction as a whole, which the Enclave could exploit.

So between weather, geographic spread, culture and demographic layout of the MWBoS, and potential Enclave presence, I think it's reasonable to assume they would not be a particularly unified faction. While open warfare between culturally different chapters would be rare, I wouldn't imagine they would be that cooperative with rival philosophies. So whlle there would be decently advanced outposts and settlements along the region depicted in Tactics, I think there would be enough cultural schisms and isolation between some areas to make them a contiguous, stable political entity like the Legion (as it is) or the NCR.

What I think ultimately happened to the MWBoS is that their army broke down.

The MWBoS's massive build up made sense in the game because they were crashed, out of supplies, and surrounded on all sides by enemies, and had to recruit a large army from local populations in order to end the threats of the raiders, beast lords, super mutants, and Calculator robots.

But with the defeat of all those groups, the MWBoS had effectively removed all major threats in the Midwest.

Not only did they go to the states we directly visit in-game(Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado) but we see in various cut scenes that they sent other groups into Indiana, southern Michigan, all the way up through Wisconsin to the Wisconsin/upper Michigan border, and throughout Iowa, Nebraska, and into eastern Wyoming, and southern South Dakota.

They had covered and purged basically all of the Midwest except Ohio, North Dakota, and Minnesota.

With the lack of any enemy to fight, as well as being taught the values of nature, that they didn't understand, from the local wastelanders, I can see the MWBoS having broken down into something far less militaristic.

They would still have squads roaming the Midwest to take on what small raider gangs remained, but the majority likely became just part of the local towns as farmers and shit(tough guards as well)

>Tactics 2: Electric Boogaloo
Yes, because no game ever has every ripped off a premise of another one, even for a small aspect of the game (pro-tip every single one of those individual ideas are straight rip-offs from other games).
>And you really think that would be considered a credible threat for a game narrative?
>This is stupid, no really, this is just hilarious dumb, and wouldn't be a threat.
These are both small aspects and scenarios of what could happen in the Boneyard ruins.
>Not really, everything you just listed either makes no sense, or wouldn't be a credible threat.
What is a "credible" threat? You do realize that not every game needs to be "YOU MUST SAVE THE WORLD", and in fact those make the most boring stories. You're the type of mouth-breating idiot that is the reason the Star Wars EU pre-Disney got the fucking Zerg in it.

But considering you assume the entirety of the NCR is a post-apocalyptic version of a gated suburban neighborhood, all hunky dory, and that the only conflict of any game has to be a global-spanning threat to defeat, then obviously "can't do any game in the west coast anymore" is the only thing you can comprehend.

Something on par with, or greater then, The LEgion.

aka, something that would actually prove trouble enough that the NCR couldn't take care of it on its own, which is the only reason the player would have any reason to be involved.

This is exactly why the west was nuked.

NCR was too big, and they already had them pitted against the only other thing as big as them(The Legion) and they already had to pull an INCREDIBLY amount of ass pull to make the Legion seem even remotely credible as a threat.

>That was only a theory Cassidy had.
Well, it is a good one, and also that was going to be a prominent plot point in Denver in Van Buren (as a Legion expedition was waiting on storms to clear out east). It makes sense and works well for the Fallout universe, as the Wasteland itself should be a harsh mistress, and new severe weather and climatic events make the world more interesting. (Much like the concept of a hazardous Ohio River basin.)

So obviously it isn't canon, but there are canon implications toward it, plus it would be an interesting and lore-friendly concept.

Regarding Enclave in Chicago, all your points are valid and it's possible there actually is no Enclave presence there. But as the main discussion is how the Midwest and Great Plains regions are essentially conjecture beyond the events of Tactics anyway, I like to argue in favor of MWBoS being fragmented myself, as I think it allows more flexibility in future setting potential (don't need another NCR causing issues like my other argument at the moment, about how California couldn't be a good setting for a Fallout game anymore).

Why does there have to be an outside threat to be credible? The NCR is on shaky legs to begin with, if they don't have a complete victory at the end of FONV, they would probably suffer civil war before 2300 as it is. If Lonesome Road ending is canon with NCR being nuked (which I doubt that'd ever be the canon ending), then yeah they'd be doubly fucked, although if the LR ending had NCR nuked but NCR still wins at the Hoover Dam, they'd survive. They absolutely need Lake Mead and it's water, them getting nuked would fuck things up but they'd recover from that if they had their culture or army controlling Hoover and Lake Mead. Their Capital would probably wind up moving to Vegas in that case, and it's possible some of the northern settlements might rebel but the NCR bureaucracy and ideals, and the major trade companies would probably survive if enough of their core survived and they had a market. Bureaucracy is hard to stamp out if it doesn't cause it's own self-destruction.

In a way I do kind of hope that NCR would lose at the dam (House or Independent is best), and if they did get nuked by Ulysses too that'd be ok (but again I think that outcome is doubtful, canon LR will probably be ED-E sacrifice). I'm not really an NCR fan, I just think it's silly to assume it could not be an interesting setting for another Fallout game.

>>174858638
I doubt Bethesda would ever allow the NCR being nuked to be canon, even if it was Obsidian trying to push it, simply because of how much backlash there would be.

I suspect the ending for NV will be the NCR winning, going through some kind of political reform now that their big enemy has been beat, and their relative future is secure via lake mead, and the farming in the Mojave region boosting their food supplies a bit.

The biggest problem for the NCR is that they are basically trapped. Even after the fall of the Legion, and any real organized threat against the NCR in the southwest, crossing the southwest is likely going to prove an impossible task for them.

The southwest is inhobsitable, with little i nthe way of natural water or food. early American explorers were able to cross it because they had the resources of the east backing them up, but trying to go the opposite direction is likely just not going to work.

The lack of inhabited cities due to Denver being overrun by dogs, Salt Lake City being entirely destroyed, and places like Tuscon and Phoenix being basically nothing, is going to make any real expansion eastward impossible.

the barren wilderness that is most of the northwest is also likely to prove a problem.

At best, the NCR's only real direction to go is north, into the areas of Portland and Seattle, which, being coastal cities, are likely to be a bit better off

Going eastward is also going to be hindered by the fact that, according to the caravan leader in Honest Hearts, the white legs burned every single bridge across the virgin river in the north western tip of Arizona and south western tip of Utah, meaning they get use I-15 to expand that way.

And Joshura Graham mentions that the White Legs destruction of New Canaan has cut off all of the NCR's northern routes eastward as well.

Hmm, I can't get the beam to goo consistently unless I set the damage to come straight from the enchantment itself. I hope it can still be tweaked damage wise the way I want, if I have to make a unique enchant for it.

The cannons seem to work pretty well each time now

Theres a terminal in the Wilson Automatoy's HQ where Arlen Glass, the toy's designer, talks about giving them "identifying marks", painting them in different colors, and even possibly making unicorn variants.

The way its all done in context is a very clear illusion to MLP.

>Several terminal entries in the building reference the television show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. The three development logs make reference to the episodes "The Last RoundUp," "Too Many Pinkie Pies" and "Lesson Zero," respectively; the first and third logs directly quote the episodes, while the second log references the climax of the episode where various Pinkie Pie clones were forced to watch paint dry. The development office terminals contain emails referring to ideas to increase product sales. These ideas include marketing to boys with a special boy's line of toys, unicorn and pegasus variants, a "Princess" line with specially colored shodding, and body and hair color variants with "identifying marks," ostensibly referring to the cutie marks in My Little Pony.

Hooray I got the beam working

150 raiders, only 21 not gooified

It pretty much gooified in every other encounter I had, aside from testing on huge groups

The NCR could still exist but be diminished. I don't get what "the backlash" could be about them, if they suffered. But yeah I doubt the canon ending of Lonesome Road would be anything other than ED-E sacrifice, but I don't necessarily think the FONV canon ending would be NCR based. House or Yes Man would be the most "status quo", as the NCR could still exist (as an independent Vegas would need the NCR to be generally non-hostile as NCR is 90% of it's customer base), and NCR would need Lake Mead water and Hoover electricity, so it would be willing to swallow it's pride for a trade deal for those resources.

You're exactly right though regarding the NCR being locked. Really they next west coast expansion would have to be up the Pacific Coast to the Cascadia region. Going east would be a lot of desolation and potential war (as even with a loss in the Mojave, the core Legion domain in eastern Arizona and New Mexico would resist NCR expansion), and even if they did defeat the Legion completely, as you said the I-10 and I-40 corridor especially is desolate as fuck beyond the Rio Grande basin. Going the I-10 route is desolate in west Texas, going down the Rio Grande might be doable as atleast there would be somewhat reliable water, but that would also have the most potentially hostile contacts (both neo-Texan and neo-Mexican). Colorado is a geographical barrier (I-70 probably wouldn't be passible through Eagle and Summit counties), and heading east of the Front Range would be desolate (and starting to go into MWBoS territory). The I-80 corridor is passible, but remote, generally unexplored, and even in Nevada they still have problems with raiders (the 80s primarily, although the White Legs are from that region of NW Utah as well).

Fallout 1, 2, and NV fans who get told that the NCR is nuked and everything they did in those three games has been rendered utterly meaningless.

This is why Bethesda doesn't go back to areas they have already done in previous games.

>Really they next west coast expansion would have to be up the Pacific Coast to the Cascadia region.
To be honest, the complete lack of mention by anyone in the NCR about NCR scouting up north into Portland or Seattle, whereas every other major city in the entirety of the Western U.S. getting mentioned at least once, does suggests they have some plans for up there.

Not to mention that, with the White Leg's destruction of New Canaan, the NCR lost the only major trading partner up that way.

And from what we hear in honest hearts, Utah is just crazy tribals, and roaming gangs, outside of New Canaan, and Wyoming is described as being a very harsh wilderness area

Don't forget.

Getting to I-70 would be difficult because the white legs burned every single bridge across the virgin river in the very northwestern tip of Arizona, and the southwestern tip of Utah, making the I-15 unusable past Vegas basically.

Getting to I-70 would require they take the I-80(the one plagued with raiders) into northern Utah, and then going from Salt Like City down down the I-15, then going east onto the I-80, making the trip even longer and more of a hassle.
