I'm really lost in what to do in my game at the moment. I played blind at the start and now I feel I'm too over leveled (130ish) to get a lot of co-op. I don't really care about pvp, and there doesn't seem to be a ton of benefits to playing new game pluses like in Souls.

He somehow got the healing church to worship him despite the blood coming from Ebrietas as evident by all the statues to him and he seems to be doing everything he can to stop you from killing Mergo and ending the night of the hunt, having his minions (the lesser Amygdala's) try to kill you and prevent you from reaching Micolashes corpse, and also having Patches give you the tonsil stone so he can trap you in his realm to die, eventually opting to kill you himself when you finally reach him. Also, he has the Ailing Loran chalice, and we know Loran fell to the beast plague and was eventually destroyed, did Amy have some part in that?

Seriously, what is up with this character, he seems to have all seven of his grubby hands everywhere but there's hardly any information about him anywhere.

Strength weapons in general are slower, do more damage per hit, and take more stamina per swing. Skill weapons tend to be faster, do less damage per swing, and take less stamina. So they both use about as much stamina. 15 End with a 20% rune has been just fine for me

There's something about that that confuses me. All the other Great Ones we see start as docile/non-hostile. Rom and Ebrietas must be provoked prior to fighting, the true Celestial Emissary doesn't fight back until it grows, even the Orphan starts by staring across the sea. The Brain of Mensis, technically considered a Great One, is completely harmless when we find it in the pit. But Amygdala is immediately hostile.
Aside from game mechanics, Amygdala's more violent nature implies to me it might not be a legitimate Great One. One of the possible messages references a "false god." I might be chasing a red herring, but Amygdala's status as a Great One feels questionable to me.

The thing about MP is his conflict is pretty much between him and the other great ones, mainly Mergo, and the night of the hunt is just a side effect of him or Mergo being there, but neither of them really care much about Yharnam.

Amygdala on the other hand seems to exclusively target Yharnamites, blessing his followers with his image (Patches) and attempting to stop you from stopping the night of the hunt by positioning him minions between you and Mergo.

If you want to dig really deep though it's stated that Clerics become the worst beasts, which we can sort of translate to "the more resistant you are to beasthood, the worse it transforms you." Ludwig is one of the most resistant individuals to beasthood we ever see in the game, he managed to hold on to just a hair of his humanity even when his body was absolutely mutated to the horror show we see, enough to draw his sword and fight us as a man, and even speak to us after he'd been decapitated.

Dark Souls 3 is a great game but it is an incoherent mess that mashes together mechanics and superficial elements from the past games without committing to one system and suffers for it.

Like the checkpointing system in DS3 is a good example.

In DeS you got 1 warp point per level start and another on boss kill. Easy and consistent.

In DaS1 you kinda got bonfires less consistently like in DeS but generally bonfires were fairly sparse and often serviced multiple directions. You didn't get bonfires per killed boss.

DaS2 shat "quality of life" bonfires everywhere to cover for bad level design and to cater to the short attention span of casuals.

Bloodborne took DeS' system and incorporates the Archstone system with the lamps/headstones perfectly.

Levels divided into the headstones and you only warp to and from Hunter's Dream, 1 lamp per level start, 1 per killed boss.

DaS3 tried to combine DeS' bonfire per killed boss system with DS1's system, but ended up also using DS2's 'quality of life' bonfire system where they were covering the fact that they couldn't make decent levels in many cases and just shat bonfires all over, resulting in levels getting cut up into bite-sized pieces and removing tension.
