The worst is just a roar that if you get caught in leads to a targeted mine up your ass.
Unless you're counting the chaos dunk as an AoE when it's just him spinning around and hitting you with a clear tell, then a lot of other monster moves become AoEs at that point.

Really it's the higher aggression and speed that help the fight mostly. Less back hopping away or swooping around and more actual fighting.

Akantor horn with +15% attack HH song, dragon instinct, resuscitate, and blunt, hitting a weak spot (45) with the backswing, with crit boost (90 affinity) = 193 damage

Mantis GS with crit draw and crit boost hitting a weak spot (45) with a level 3 charge = 330 damage

I guess it lines up with the respective motion values (46 on backswing, 100 on level 3), but HH needs so many more buffs to even get that much.

Giadrome dies in two gold swing combos in F2/FU from the starting weapon

Every incarnation of Gogomoa is incredibly easy to abuse and it normally ends up flailing in the opposite direction instead of attacking or punishing you

Being animation locked when you need to dodge is your fault anyway, can be avoided by using a different weapon if you suck at planning ahead, or just by being smarter about when you lock yourself up.

So that two frame invulnerability window really is a one frame input window.
The timing on monster attacks is also more difficult to judge than a bar hitting the bottom of the screen, varies depending on the position of your character, and hitboxes don't necessarily match up with the model of the monster either.

Okay, I'll explain it a little more in-depth.
Pierce bowgun shots deal a set motion value per hit, with the motion value per hit decreasing with successive levels but the total number of hits increasing. Pierce 1 deals 3 hits of 9 damage (27), Pierce 2 deals 4 hits of 7 damage (28) and Pierce 3 deals 5 hits of 7 damage (35).
Due to higher levels of Pierce dealing more hits and spreading their damage out, you need a larger (or longer) target for the shots to pierce through to deal their damage. Higher levels of Pierce also have a higher critical distance.

For example:

What this means is that Pierce 1 needs about half as much distance to deal its max damage. The easy thing to say is something like sword and shield or insect glaive, because they have low "lock times" on your attack, giving you very little punishment for fucking up either from attacking too much or mispositioning. But from experience with shitters who dont know how to play this game, if you introduce people this way they just stay locked to those weapons forever and never learn most of the harder mechanics of positioning and attacking the game has to offer. I'd probably recommend hammer or lance to new players depending on whether they enjoy offense or defense. Both are easy to pick up immediately and play out of the gate and punish you for fucking up but less so than other weapons. Lance is fucking painful to use if you suck at it with abysmal clear times but if they really like the defensive gameplay they can become autistically good with it and become one of those striker memesters.

Frostpeak Gammoth is a shitty monster. Fuck this shit cunt.

Nerscylla is a shitty fight with too much verticality but I also love how its partbreaking works, it feels like the best in the series. Every time you break something on it, it visibly gets worse at using those attacks with even sometimes less range. I know that's literally the entire point of every part break except ones just for drops but Nerscylla feels the most impactful visually.

You start off and its this huge hulking beast with all these gems jutting out from it and slowly you crack all them off and break it's face and front claws off and now its this small shitty brown spider that cant do anything. As much as I hate the fight itself I end up having fun just because of that
