This webm made me think about what I don't like about how Sonic's movement works in Unleashed and Generations. His leg movements don't really look like they match his overall movement. Like he just slides along while swinging his legs back and forth rather than actually stepping on the ground. It just seems really slippery.
I prefer how Sonic Adventure 1 was. Something about it made it feel like there was actual weight falling as he planted each step that appropriately, gradually decreased as his speed increased. Sonic Adventure 2 was similar but at top speeds it still felt like Sonic was jogging rather than running

I played the Dreamcast version trough most of my life, and now I recently got the Steam version, which is Battles, and gotta say...It definitely feels different. Physics are just different enough to mess with your muscle memory, tho it's not that hard to adjust.

A lot of us didn't know GHPAnon wanted a completely linear A-to-B experience with this museum. A lot of us thought it would be like Yooka-Laylee, where it was totally open to explore. That's why we chose Smooth & Silky.

Yeah fuck the people saying this shit is great. The only thing I can compliment is it does feel like a classic game, in the sense the physics are pretty spot on, with some issues here and there. Pretty much everything else is piss poor, especially the level design. Holy fucking shit what went wrong with the level design, it's almost as bad as CD, its way to convoluted and the fact you can't jump from different plains makes it annoying as fuck.

I still think Metal Sonic Overdrive is the best 2D fan game, good music, visuals, game play was great, no real issues with it. Time twisted is a decent game, but it just doesn't really have any magic moments or really fun set pieces.

Ryan Drummond was the same, but took a better approach toward sonic's free-spirited nature
Jason Anthony Griffith really fleshed out Sonic's reasons for doing what he wants, and his beliefs in helping others, but with every sentence having the same tone
Roger Craig Smith can do pretty much all of the above, and has more expressive enunciation than the rest

Martin Burke felt like the best voice for classic sonic; he had a determined voice that never went over the top. His performance was cool without trying to be, much like how Classic Sonic was originally.

Though I still think Roger has the best voice for modern Sonic

sorta depends. It's a widely used idea, for sure, but exactly how mary sue-ish it ends up being depends on the skill:
-if the OC has a good amount of failures as well as successes when inventing, that's alright
-if they fail more than they succeed in inventing but learn from their mistakes, that's fine
-if they haven't really invented anything yet but are spending a lot of time researching stuff, that's okay but the character would really need to test an experiment in order to develop as a character
-if the character's inventions work for a bit, then fail spectacularly, that's somewhat overused and cliche; should only be used scarcely if at all
-if the character's inventions are generally complex and work perfectly every time, that's textbook mary-sue-ism
-but if the inventions are small, simple things like wind-up toys or stuff like that and work perfectly 99 percent of the time, that's alright, but might be a bit much if the character is a beginner

What a great idea! Sorry for the lack of communication on that front. I've been doing the Open World thing for so long that I'd like to try my hand at a more focused experience. Not Unleashed-levels of directed, of course, but something a bit more like an Adventure level. Perhaps slightly more open than that.

In essence, I'd like it to be a football-shaped map: It starts off linear, opens up to several paths with different exhibits and Easter Eggs (promoting multiple playthroughs) and then close to a unified path at the end.

Of course, the scale of it all really boils down to you guys and how much content and 3D setpieces you end up submitting. If there's a ton of stuff to showcase, then the level will be bigger to compensate.

That full speed running animation actually isn't mine. It's lifted right out of Lost World. Unfortunately, "bringing back" the peelout animation isn't that easy. A whole new animation must be made for this new model if we want to have an OVA-style peelout which I would be more than okay with. It think it would look rad.

why? because it's a pain in the ass to 100% complete it? How many casuals these days actually finish games? How many sonic fans actually 100% every game they have? I personally have never got all the emblems in Adventure DX despite it being my second favorite 3D sonic game but I've done pic related at least 20 or so times over the years.
