so I'm a WoWfag and I'm playing an Inquisitor Assassin, but for whatever reason I can train skills that let me buff allies so they don't draw aggro and shit like that, which seems more useful for a tank role (which I'm not).

Do people get skills that are outside of their role?

It used to be that that ability was only usable by the tank spec, but now anyone in a tank-capable class can use it.
Similarly, all heal-capable classes have a cleanse, combatrez and 3 healing abilities by default, but if you actually spec heals you get 4 more, plus procs and a better cleanse.
