Ways to nullify damage resist in TWW are few and far between. Especially for physical.

probably any time I've lost naval superiority in fots, or the oda campaign where nobunaga ended up w/ the impolite trait + the game assigned a broken treaties penalty to me randomly, causing me to basically hit realm-divide levels of diplomatic penalties while only having 3-4 provinces. Or when my late-game tosa republic campaign was turned into an endless nightmare by endless ai agents, that I was forced to sit and watch every single turn despite having fast movement/show ai moves off, and had no way of dealing with as they assassinated all of my high-tier agents through brute force, and all my low tier agents couldn't touch the ai's

It doesn't, because when a Warlord gets a Rat Ogre Bonebreaker as a mount, he is still a single model - as are Franz and Leoncouer. Thanquol and Boneripper are two distinct models that can move and fight separately from each other (as long as Boneripper is within 12" of Thanquol), so they do not act in the same way as a mount at all.

That's in lore. In game whoever is playing Settra will be expected to go out and fuck with the Arabyans. It will be interesting to see whether the Kangz AI is designed to be isolationist like the Wood Elves or if the nature of the campaign for game 2 means that Kangz will send their spooky armies to Lustria to steal treasures to take over the vortex.

Runelords & Belegar can buff tier 1 units in both red-tree skill lines so overall they get +17MA & MD (along with tech) and +15 CB which puts their stats at the same level as most factions elite units, not to mention that dwarfs are one of the easiest factions to get extra chevrons on units.

With all those buff miners charging get 56 MA & 43 Weapon Strength.

Greatswords in comparison get 48 MA & 58 weapon strength on the charge.

But if you actually factor in armour piercing / normal damage ratios miners are at 34 armour piercing damage to the greatswords 41, so they're actually really similar on the charge.

People loved the Brettonia campaign for being more narrative focused and giving you the option to win via a narrative means rather than world domination I still chose to colonise the shit out of the smelly empire peasants though

King & the Warlord was when they first tried it out and it's amazing. Clan Angrund & Crooked Moon are largely considered 2 of the best TWW campaigns because of the narrative twist they put on the standard campaign objectives.

Naval combat has always been utter shit. Its either spam melee, spam fire arrows or make a line and let the AI float into your cannons. The fact is there is more work in Warhammer naval than all other TW games combined and it would be a total fucking waste of time.

I've noticed that the quality of naval combat tends to be tied to the historical era the game takes place in.

Empire and Napoleon are in a time where naval warfare was well-developed and (mostly) conducted at range, so the emphasis was on proper positioning and being better at using the wind to your advantage to get the best angles for opening fire without getting shot back in return.

In Shogun 2 the Japanese were tards who basically could not into navies at all. Bows and arrows are the only real ranged power you have most of the time, and honorabu hand-to-hand is a focus with giant retarded floating castle ships. This just isn't very fun at all.

But then in Fall of the Samurai suddenly you're in an even more advanced era of naval warfare, so it's basically Empire/Napoleon but better developed and with sickass steamers and explosive shells. Probably the best naval combat has ever been in Total War.

And then comes Rome II with its naval battles of antiquity - which were complete and utter clusterfucks that the Romans in reality hated just as much as the players do because it was a horrible clusterfuck. Everything is incredibly primitive and boils down to ramming and boarding, but they're worse at it than the Japanese so it's even less fun. Attila is more or less the same.

Given that the navies in Warhammer have all sorts of bonkers shit going on that can kill other ships at range and even a lot of the close combat is massively unconventional (e.g. giant mechanical hammers held by the ship's figurehead) you could probably make a pretty good naval game out of it. Unfortunately the perception of naval battles has been sullied by the last three main games all being set in eras with primitive and unfun naval warfare so we're not getting any of it.

then pick someone else. Dwarfs are the lowest MP tier but they will always be too slow to be a good aggressive faction. Canons are hilariously bad and should be they way dorfs bleed out their opponents and deal with big threats.

The units you have to protect right now don't do enough work to invest and protect them. That and with AP armored infantry everywhere and being better than yours Dorfs are lacking an infantry advantage they would otherwise see since Longbeards are core while everyone else's armored AP infantry are limited.

At the same time if dorfs are too good that would be a lot worse

Holy shit, I probably had one of the best beginnings in my very hard Bretonnian campaigns. I basically beelined toward Skullmasherz settlement on turn 2, disgustingly cheesed them with cav to death and got minimal losses, when I usually lose like half of my army in that battle.

After that, I was able to besiege Marienburg and starved them to death, and the campaign went full comfy after that, I safely confederated Artois, Lyonesse and Bastonne, while making a fucking bank with Marienburg peace treaty. Easily dispatched Mousilon when their Grave Guard spam stack got owned while trying to capture Lyonesse, turn before I confederated them. After that, I had a pretty big fight against leftovers of Red Duke army and Mousilon garrison outside of city gates and easily captured it.

Amusingly, for some weird as fuck reason Skaelings asked for peace when I was sieging Marienburg and been willing to pay handsomely for that, I just don't know what the fuck is going on, these fucks never asked for peace before.

It's turn 27 and for the first time, I'm not getting fucked from every possible direction.

I'm already at war with them, they got invited back by Skarsnik, which is kinda amusing. Just a fucking weird campaign all around, Wood Elves got owned by Carsaconne and lost their starting province, which got razed and then resettled by another elf faction so they virtually eliminated from the game and only stuck with Oak of Ages and literally can't do anything because they can't spawn army.

Talabheim declared war on Secessionists, beelined toward Helmgard while losing their starting province to Ostland and now they stuck between me and Empire. Karl probably will confederate them later.

Boris got destroyed by Nordland (!!!). Aren't they supposed to be allies from the beginning?

Newer games are built specifically to restrict modding so only what CA wants can be created. To be fair, they're actually pretty good when it comes to working with the community.

Empire is pretty dire, gameplay-wise. I have no fond memories of that game. If you want similar line infantry and scouting cavalry battles with a focus on naval combat, Shogun: Fall of the Samurai is better.

Naval combat in base-game Shogun 2 is pretty bad, though, because the japs at the time viewed boats as platforms for ramming into one another that you'd then have melee combat on.

It is pretty simple to never touch naval play by simply using autoresolve.

Note that this arguably makes the campaign harder, because the naval battle AI is so terrible that palyign teh battle often allows you to win agaisnt incredible odds.

The agents were never a real problem for me, you just have to use your own to counter them. If they really annoy you, ust turn them off with a mod.

I personally don't see much resemblance between the Tau and Protoss beyond color scheme. They're both blue and they both like yellow, but that's basically it. The Protoss are a lot more overdone and ancient feeling while the Tau are very sleek and technological.

Yep, they live in the Lustrian jungles. Old lore had them as the last creation of the Old Ones, who apparently reproduced asexually and to whom they left advanced technology like laser guns. The problem with buffing dwarfs in MP is that one of the unique features of their campaign is that they have the most extensive tech tree of any faction.

They have several buffs for most units & loads of really good buffs that effect most of their army.

Like rangers are pretty average in MP, but in the campaign you can buff them to have like 40% extra missile damage and be faster than slayers (who are already one of the fastest infantry in the game) with the charge bonus of a black orc. They become literally insane flanking units for their price.

Buffing them to be better in multiplayer means changing a dynamic of their campaign which makes them unique to play.

It's actually possible to replace LLs at the head of armies, but CA didn't make it easy to figure out how. You go to the Lord's abilities page on the campaign map - the page where it shows their items, ancillaries, and traits - and at the bottom right-hand corner there's a little boot icon. If you click that, you have the option to instantly replace the lord with another lord, and in this way you can put a new lord in charge of your horde and even give the boot to LLs.

It's not like Shogun 2 where it was predictable enough that people were able to calculate how much you needed to be outnumbered by and what maximum percentage of troops you were allowed to lose to get a Heroic. I think the monstrous units and magic have jiggered things enough that it's a bit tricky to tell what the game counts as heroic and what it doesn't.

The biggest factor in a heroic victory is the number of troops

You take in 100 troops and beat a 1000 and you'll get a heroic victory, even if its something stupid like fighting nothing but peasants.

What I do is buy a shitton of agents and spam them on towns. They level up every one or two turns so you can make them exceptionally powerful in a handful of turns, then slap them all in an army with nothing but small squad elite troops.

Nearly every fight will be heroic.

Naw, Chaos Sorcerors are like a seperate branch of Warriors or Chosen who happen to have magical talent. They get gifted armor like all accomplished servants of the gods.

One of Chaos' strengths is that it doesn't have fragile specialist heroes like the Empire or Greenskin wizards. Everybody had big armor and big attack and could stand almost on their own if attacked.

If you win whilst ignoring the vortex surely you have to wipe out the AI armies who are going for the vortex themselves, so you'll basically be going for the vortex?

I don't see how you win once you get the vortex though, surely it would lead to some kind of event happened which then leads to you winning - it shouldn't just be that you play a quest battle and get a campaign victory.

My guess is that if you do well enough in the sandbox whilst ignoring the vortex you can survive whatever it does to end the campaign if your empire is strong enough.

I wouldn't say they are vassals. What I read says they've fought the lizards as much as fought with. They are their own independent entity but share in the mutual interest of anti-skaven anti-outsiders.

I am still wondering if Tomb Kings will be in the 3rd expac
-The southlands are usually distinguished from Nehekhara and Araby
-All four playables have a presence in the new world. The Tomb Kings do not.
-Tomb Kings in the 3rd expansion means the usual 4 major playables: Empire/Dorf/Ork/VC (and Chaos) in Expansion 1, Delf/Helf/Skaven/Lizards (and ????) in Expansion 2, Tomb King/Ogre/Chaos Dwarf/Daemons in Expansion 3.


However they could keep the spirit of Warhammer 1's setup by doing Delf/Helf/Skaven/Lizards with Tomb King & Estalia colonies or Vampire Coast DLC, and then Warhammer 3 be Khorne/Slaanesh/Tzeentch/Nurgle with a Chaos Dwarf and Ogre Kingdoms DLC. That seems kind of odd though, having the two factions that require a lot more new assets be DLC while the Daemons (who have a small core of highly unique units but then would need to have filler of Chaos humans or beastmen or whatever) be the main package.

I tend to waffle between assuming they'll do Tomb Kings in the 3rd expac and the aformentioned Chorfs and Ogre DLC to a Daemon expansion.

Delicious meat, they don't let black people touch your food, and every time I go in there they treat me like a valued customer. Every time I go into Arby's, I order a large Beef "N" Cheddar combo with their Signature Curly Fries and a Mountain Dew, or as I like to call it, Mountain Delight. They even call me "Mountain Delight" now every time I walk in to place my order. I eat at Arby's every day, sometimes even multiple times a day.

I mean they'd kind of have to be, otherwise you've got no DLC race for the entire second game? That seems unlikely. I see Tomb Kings as WH2 race DLC, rather than any other possible one, like Araby, Amazons, or New World Humans.

Maaaybe Vampire Coast, but I feel people would be more pissed off about that, after all the vampire love so far. I mean not that the Vampire Coast couldn't be DLC, but as the only race pack DLC? That would be too much.

I got into FOTS MP way back in the day. Really fun since a player will actually skirmish with you, and since whoever steps into range of the guns first loses it turns into this incredible game of patience where you try to troll each other into launching a poorly placed attack just because you can't stand getting shot at from the side or out of range.

Sieges were fun too.

Multiplayer campaigns are pretty okay, even if the game suffers from desyncs sometimes. If you have some patient friends that will let you play out battles instead of autorezzing (I don't, it's boring), they're good. It's neat to team up and conquer the world.

It's especially nice how when you play a battle your friend can either be your AI opponent or you can give him control of some of your units for better micro. Had a couple friends try that, actually. One was awful at raiding since he likes to play overly safe so he kept asking for money, the other did reasonable. The sucky dude got pissy when the AI killed three of his lords. Restarted and they're playing vampire counts/von carstein now. I think they're working on getting through their first big chaos invasion, it sounds fun.

I'm playing the empire and the whiny dude is playing bretonnia in a different game. We're playing on easy, which is kind of retarded, but whatever.

What's the best TATW submod?

I use DaC. Pretty good, very detailed, doesn't crash too often and can usually get about 45 stable turns in per session. Crash frequencies seem to increase around turn 150 or so but I'm usually bored of my campaigns by that time and just start a new one anyway

Is what I found, though the mod it self is an overhaul complete with a political system for the empire, new resource for dwarfs, orcs get a horde mode and a different waagh mechanic/resource, and kemmler starts as a horde. If you're thinking of a separate mod with just kemmler as a horde then I got nothing for you, sorry.

TW has NEVER been hardcore. Im not kidding here, even CoD requires more skill and knowledge than TW ever has.

This series is fun for smashing armies and recreating historyfags battles, but it has never been or probably will never be hard.

I love all the dragon types present in Total Warhams. Flying mounts and monstrous creatures in general are top tier fun to fiddle with, but the dragons are the undisputed best to watch crashing into a group of poor lads. Delves/Helves/Lizardmen going to be great because of it.
