I am currently working on replacing their objects completely again, and making the textures and trails better and even adding particles, first.

Then I will try to give them a pre-fire animation I guess, but I already tried doing this, and it somehow looked like crap. I just have to look more into how to animate objects with trails, then I'm sure I will also be able to do this. Because when I made the pre-fire animation the trails somehow were completely fucked with zig zags in them.

Have you tried to normalize the ships current position to use as a baseline in the lasers' initial animation/movement?
like say base=ship.x/y/whatever
then use 'base' variable in the movement (laser bending = (base +/- animation coordinates).

This should always keep the lasers in their same relative positions around the ship regardless of where it is moving until you change them into a state without the 'base' so they can fire off without needing to remember where the ship is (making a shmup as well but I apply the logic to background horizontal movement in a v.scroller )

My problem is not that the laser object is not following the ship movement, it is the trail of the laser object. The trail follows the pre fire animation, but it also follows the movement of the playership. The makes the trail look like crap.

I think I came to the conclusion, that I'd have to use an own mesh for the prefire laser, in the shape of the animation flow, and then simulate an animation by using a particle emitter, instead of using a trail and animation.

Anyone here ever play philosoma? Is it any good?

CCWI isn't shit because of the hitbox size in relation to the sprite, it's shit because it was done poorly. In good games the hitbox glows at all times, or at least while in focus mode. In CCWI it's a tiny yellow dot. The position of the options also makes it very awkward to tell where your hitbox is located. None of this would be so bad if the movement speed in the game wasn't totally fucked.

I was playing around with a Jtagged 360 S I just got off ebay, and after surveying the options menu of the Guwange port, I ended up playing the game in "ghetto tate". And it somehow was a great experience, these (and actually all) games are really meant to be seen on a big screen. It actually wasnt even a big screen, a pathetic 32 incher, but still leagues above playing verts cramped on a widescreen 24 inch monitor. I even felt like I played a bit better because of it, surely because the increased size of the tiny sprites, otherwise Arrange blue happens to be a very easy mode.

The Xbox 360 arrange is arguably the way the game was supposed to be made, though the implementation is a bit lacking. The 360's controller ridiculous D-Pad doesnt help either. Since the boner has a better controller and BC for Guwange, I guess there exists one more reason for dedicated fans of Japanese shooting games to get that console one day (the other two reasons are Raiden V and Crimson Dragon).

In other news, Hard Corps Uprising doesnt seem to have Japanese VA, which is terrible and completely ruins the female MC for me (apparently there isnt one woman in America that can pull voicing an anime character off).

watched STD weekly episode on Crimzon Clover and it seems like a great game. the best thing is that it's far less punishing than WI, if only becouse you are rewarded for playing the game properly with loads of extends, while in CCWI all you get for your effort is faster bullets, more hp for bosses and bullshit RNG. i know, i know it's an arcade game made for the best of the best japs, but how hard it would've been to add a doujin-like difficulty mode with more extends and longer invincibility after break? instead we got this hilariously easy novice mode which completely fails to prepare new players for challenges ahead. it's really weird that some anons recommend CCWI to beginners, as if staying at the bottom with type Z is a fun way to play a score-centric game for 100 hours(how much time beginner needs to kusoclear).
