shaper dies almost as quickly to full ele now as poison, but it's a lot safer to run full ele because of leech. nearly every insane damage build I've ever seen face tanks everything of shaper but the slam, with the absolute best looking like mostly full lightning damage with vinktars (ala ball lightning shaper killer with old Harvest)

I guess poison is the correct point to bring up for the original discussion though (why phys bows cost so much more than prism), because poison is all the rage right now. Prism seems really value for its cost, and I doubt it's gonna be possible to get much better during a temp league.

The build fully converts physical damage to elemental, via phys to lightning gem, and signal shot quiver. You have about equal damage lightning and fire. Your lightning damage leeches through vinktar's.

Doomfletch prism has lower overall lightning damage than a regular phys bow that's converted.

Highest PoB damage is always going to be an assassin poison build, but that's only pure numbers. Bow builds are gonna be all about the same tree, likely pathfinder, getting king of the hill, lethality, and deadly draw. Elemental conversion has been the talk of the day, so go find that signal shot tree or something.

Barrage will always have highest numbers, even if you were to factor in 1 or 2 arrows missing, which won't happen because you hit bosses point blank. Point blank is a big factor here.

People first realized barrage's potential when cast on crit became popular (look up "Shatterchuck"

Back then, people used puncture for single target dps (it was actually very good) but the bleed on it got gutted, so people played with point blank blast rain, even rain of arrows. But then people realized that point blank barrage melts anything in the game when combined with additional arrows from things like reach of the council, death's opus, and corrupted quivers.

And once you get a GG harbinger, all you need is that +1 from the quiver and it's all over.

There's also the added benefit of choosing between poison and elemental with the same skeleton tree, and most of the same gear, with the pros / cons being pure dps vs sustain potential.
