To be fair, the X-02 re-implementation of Enclave Armor from FO3 /is/ supposed to be the same power armor as Tactics. Said it a few times, but FO3 referred to the Enclave power armor as "horned devil" armor. It's just a less alien grasshopper take on it.

If the suit is lifting something, the muscles underneath mean nothing, if your muscles are stronger than the suit, then the suit is pointless, and regular armor would be better.

Fallout PA is more similar to a forklift than a modern powered frame. The suit is doing all of the work, from the feet to the hands, no load is placed on the wearer's body. With a modern exoskeleton, you still grip things with your real hands, and if you tried to lift something that was too heavy for your natural body but not too heavy for the suit, it would just rip your hands off at the wrists. Or they're like pic related, meant to bear the load of a heavy tool while leaving your arms free to control the movement.

Hey, so I've got this mod I'm trying to tinker with.

It adds the New Calibers ammo to the ammunition manufacturing plant from the Contraptions DLC.

But the 7.62x39mm round it creates is the wrong one and it hasn't been updated in a while.

Anyone know how to switch the ammo it produces? I'm currently using Fo4Edit but it doesn't seem to show the recipes.

Confirmed for baby's first CK (not GECK anymore as of Fo4) mod. There is an ini edit that needs to be done to enable that, which has been the case for a decade+ now.
Also, ffs don't use the CK just to do COBJ work, especially with a small plugin or one that has multiple dependencies.

I was confused why the mod wouldn't move the point where the game opens. You'd want it to be an enclosed location absent of hostiles to prevent the death-in-chargen situation, but unless the point of origination is locked down, I'm really tempted to try remaking that mod with a different spin.

The Contraptions machines are almost entirely script-based. I'm a pretty experienced modder, and it still took me forever to figure out how exactly they work/how to do something similar.
The most you will probably want to try doing is changing the script property from the mod to point to the 7.62mm ammo from Nuka World. Beyond that, you are going to need some serious scripting chops to get anything done.
It would probably be easier to just create a few COBJs for making batches of the ammo by hand based on the Contraptions component requirements.

I suppose so, I've never exactly understood what the problems on Nexus are though.

The difference is that problems on Nexus are from the users, the problems on GUNetwork are from the moderators running the place. They've set up their secret clubhouse and are convinced they're the best talent in the whole mod scene.

Heard one guy who joined, made some content which he was only 'allowed' to post on GUNetwork itself if he wanted to be on their good side, tried to upgrade his account to get behind their content wall and basically spent 3 months arguing with moderators accusing him of being some kind of deep cover plant trying to destroy their community sent by jealous outside forces.

Basically there's some genuine talent there but the place is run by paranoid arrogant dickheads who are about as friendly and welcoming as North Korea.

Case in point is this here AK mod I have. It's from GUNetwork. It's genuinely great and I love it. The author released it publicly. But there is a LOT of content they only give out to people who have proven themselves 'worthy' of being in their special club.

Does anyone know what would cause lighting to look like this? I got a new computer, this keeps happening in my games. The lighting is just way too intense. I had to quit playing No Man's Sky because it was giving me a headache.

Frankly most of my roleplay is in my own head.

Even in 3 and NV there wasn't 'that' much you could do beyond just 'be nice' or 'be a jerk'. I don't get too complicated in the game itself but I have a few basic principles of my character I stick to.

Roleplaying in any game is limited. Don't overcomplicate it.

Just trying to be "realistic" has made my current playthrough feel a lot cooler and more roleplay-y.

I did a fantastical playthrough where I blasted everyone with the junk jet and I ran all the time and didd't care about things like carry weight and all those sorts of things.

My second playthrough I'm only doing things that "make sense".
If it doesn't fit in my backpack or my arms, I can't carry it.
One primary weapon and one sidearm.
If I'm running around and fighting and shooting at stuff all day, I couldn't carry a heavy backpack, so if I'm adventuring I don't carry more than 30 or so pounds of stuff for extended periods.
If something is scary, I'll act like it. I try to avoid most fights and if it's with something scary I'll hide a lot. I've turned and ran from radscorpions may times. I'm glad there aren't spiders in this game.
People don't actually constantly run, so I'll toggle walk on for most of the time. Even cross country.
I don't know my way around, so I'm trying to actually go by memory as I play.
Modern firearms and other weapon mods are great for this because they're added to raiders and whatnot, so they get to one shot me just like I do to them, so it's realistic. Combat is actually taking cover and peeking. Or sneaking.
I try to treat death as an actual scary thing and I try my best to protect my companions and myself.
I started headcanon'ing a whole relationship with Cait.
I try to treat people realistically, so repeating conversations for a different option doesn't make sense and being rude if you want to be friends and lots of dialogue related tings like that.
I don't go out if it's raining/storming.
Radiation is scary, not lolradaway.
If you want to cross a river or go to an island, people don't just jump in.

A few other things but we get the idea. It adds a lot of time to everything but that's how it would really be and I like that.

I don't think I'm going to make them initially hostile. I'll just make Plas-Man a merchant, Captain Plasma being his personal waifu and bodyguard, with a plasma caster pointed right at you during the entire thing, tons of synth guards with plasma weapons, and an "assembly line" of synths working on new guns in the back room, which you can sneak into to steal blueprints for the Plasma-beam, or purchase one he's already made for a gob of caps.

Basically kind of a mix of Van Graffs and Gun Runners. A table will display tons and tons of plasma stuff, that you can steal, but if you do, you'll have to moidalize everyone in the room, and an off-limits terminal in their bedroom.

This will speed up the process and I don't have to keep testing the dungeon over and over, too.

Also Plas-Man's off-limits terminal under the Posiedon facility will be linked to PosiedoNet. Anything neat anon has in mind for me to put there other than "Whoops offline got exploded 60 years ago"

I think I'm going to make them merchants under Posiedon turbine number 18, selling top quality plasma stuff, fusion cores, and other ammo.

You can still kill them if you want, and make out with tons of stuff. I won't even inflate their health, I'll have Captain plasma pointing a pronged caster at you, and two synths soldiers in Power armor holding gatling plasmas at you. If you can survive that or pickpocket mines on them all successfully, or pop a psychojet maybe you could kill them all before they begin firing.

Plas-man's still a not nice dude, however, he's collecting caps and trading not just to become rich, but to expand his own influence and eventually take his fight back to the Institute for banishing and subsequently trying to kill him. This is also the best way I can headcanon his weapons being in the leveled lists, too. Raiders buy from him, Gunners buy from him, and the ones foolish enough to try robbing him are turned to gooey puddles.

Was playing Fallout 4 for a solid 48 hours (according to the savefile in my game) but I'm already petering out, and think I'll try a "hardcore" survival run of New Vegas with Vicious Wastes and other mods designed to make combat fast and visceral.

Probably going to try playing as an NCR Veteran Ranger since, frankly, I haven't done a playthrough siding with the NCR in about 7 years and I also want to try playing as a "bad guy" attached to the faction by opting for the most violent outcomes to all their quests (wiping out the Khans, Brotherhood, etc.)

But for gear should I go Cowboy (eventual loadout something like Lucky + Medicine Stick), Grunt (.45 Auto Pistol + This Machine), or straight up heavy AND stealthy (Silenced 12.7mm Pistol + Silenced Anti-Materiel Rifle)?

I bought the season pass at some point, but I only recently startet a new playthrough to get all the content on survival mode. I added a few mods I saw in a video, specifically 5x damage, survival quicksave and stuff like that. I also added the M9 gun mod, because I love the gun itself.

Now after about 10 hours I have more ammo than I could ever shoot with, there is basically no way for me to starve or die of thirst, and half of the perks are pointless because of the 5x damage mod.

What mods should I use to have a rewarding survival experience? And should I use the quicksave mod?

Yeah I'm making a small interior bunker. Can't do that in Xedit.

Basically, the cell is gonna be a room with security cages going into it, guarded by dudes in Power armor, and a table full of plasma weapons, ammo, etc, and Plas-man and Captain Plasma as merchants. Kinda like the Van Graff setup. In the back room will be his bedroom, terminal, secret blueprints you can steal to save yourself the caps if you're sneaky enough, otherwise buy / take them by killing everyone.

Also in the back room will be lots of synths putting together parts into Plasma casters, I'm gonna say on a good day they can assemble 3 or 4 of them a day with scrap they trade with and purchase, using blueprints found.

Also, about the FO4 CK...it just seems WAY more unstable in general than the Skyrim one.

Hmmm I have a strange bug with New Vegas.

Heavily modded but the game runs through the intro just fine, and I can talk to the Doc and create my character, but when it gets to the point where he wants me to walk to the Vigor Tester the game locks up but keeps playing the music.

My best guess is that the new CASM is breaking the game trying to save it, but I disabled it and no luck. Have any other anons run into this problem?

If you've managed to bake normal maps out of something that looks correct then it shouldn't be a problem yeah. When I model stuff trying to combine round shapes with rectangular ones, I usually add an extra loop around the round shape so the vertex smoothing is done between those vertices, not between the round shape and the rectangular edges.

The area on the right, the locked in cage area, I might put a master level lock on that door, and put some stuff in there that you could steal, such as Plas-mans entire merchant stock, at great risk. I measured the room, this is about 4 or 5 feet below the Poseidon turbine's parking lot. I'll probably make his terminal a bit more advanced than your average terminal.

Dragbody is infamous for making bad decisions on character design.

I think the only character overhaul he ever did that wasn't complete garbage was his first take on the NCR.

The second one suffers from the same issue as that Legion mod and his Dead Money mod -- it's just full of highly recognizable assets and models ported from other games.

There's nothing inherently wrong with the NCR's look (and by extension, yes, the Legion) in the base game, they would benefit greatly from being in a better engine though.

I've put multiple thousands of hours in NV because it's one of my favorite games, but the fact is the engine is dated and most clothing/armor/npc models in it simply do not look good because it has poor lighting, no physics of any sort on clothing, a lack of decent depth of field, etc.

These are issues that can be "patched up" by ENB's to an extent but never fully fixed.

I mean maybe if you could stop trying to act like an elitist because I used a term that makes you uncomfortable you could admit there's nothing wrong with the design of the game persay, it's simply presented in a very dated looking game engine.

Which is why most games still do shit like Half Life 2, where NPCs just magnetize to ladders instead of climbing them.

Or NPCs only use ladders in specific scripted events where they use a highly customly made animation for them climbing during that script event cutscene.

Skywind has their "blessings" already and it will work on SSE, hiring them to do the re-release won't be too much, Oblivion the same.

Becuase, due to Dr's % based system, its impossible to reach maximum damage negation against any weapon or attack unless you are wearing power armor, making power armor the best armor in the game(as it is in lore)

The problem with DT having a damage cap is that, since DT just straight up magically subtracts damage in its entirety, and since the vast majority of guns in the game do very low damage, its very easy, and entierly possible, to reach the maximum damage negation one can get against most weapons with light armor, making medium and heavy armors pointless since they won't actually reduced damage anymore, but still take up more carry weight, reduce your ovement speed, and cost many times more to repair.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, since DT is a straight subtraction system, even if you had the maximum base health possible in New Vegas, and you went from Vault security armor, to Remnants power armor(which has twice as much DT as Vault security armor), you would survive literally all of ONE shot more from most high damage weapons like the Anti-Material rifle sinc, even with like 18 more point of damage getting negated, the gun still does so much damage it kills you in like 3 hits anyways.

With DT, there is no curve, armors that are supposed to be better are objectively worse.

This is why Saywer had to add DR to all medium and heavy armors in his mod.

DT simply DOES NOT FUNCTION in any sort of logical or consistent way.

And you get that, by getting your 80% damage reduction and turning into a living god where basically nothing can kill you unless you get swarmed by 100 enemies at once.

Don't forget, even in lore as far back as Fallout 1 stated that power armor CAN be destroyed and defeated even with typical raider weapons, so long as the raiders throw a fucking LOT at it.

Oblivion introduced houses in every major town, as well as the ability to buy furniture, but otherwise had one pre-set theme

Fallout 4 had less houses, but those houses had various wasteland themes you could buy.

Skyrim introduced building houses by getting materials, allowed you to pick various options for the various wings, and let you have a far greater control over what furniture you got.

Fallout 4 introduced settlement building, which gave us the ability to build shit in tons of places, and near conplete control over where shit was placed.

Its a fairly obvious system of progression starting from the most static possible housing system in Morrowind, to the least static one possible in Fallout 4.

To get a mod not to show up at a bench, find its construction object, and delete the 'created object'

to get it not to show up in a drop, go to the object modification section, find the corresponding 'modcol_' entry, and delete the reference too the mod.

you may have to go into the weapon section and adjust some things in the object templates. if that mod shows up as part of a static drop, you would have to change it to something you want to show up.

Synth settlers will have some energy defense. Be careful though, because some settlers will have a hat or jacket that will give them a little bit of energy resistance, so don't blast someone who's wearing energy resistance.

My settlers have combat armor and good guns and stuff. Some attacks end abruptly when they all open up with modern firearms modded weapons. And my stuff gets attacked a lot because of stuff like in the image.

A few settlers at each spot are dressed in nice clothes and are the "administrators". Generally people who are nicer when they talk. They just have sidearms.

STR at one means you can carry fuck all. Literally a single weapon will get you near capacity with consumables + armor.
END at one means a stiff breeze will kill you.
All that agility is only good for VATS, which is not useful for sniping (too far most of the time).
LCK is a dump stat and not even worth the one point you have put into it.
INT isn't high enough to get the first rank of Chemist, or any ranks of Science!, which are both essential for a lot of crafting (especially the latter for settlements).

If you want to RP, then do it with your choices in the game rather than focusing so heavily on your initial build. SPECIAL is not at all permanent like it used to be, so there is no long-term reason to gimp yourself like this.

For the past 4 hours I've been trying to get my Fallout 3 to fucking work and after fucking with the compatibility and affinity, I was able to get to boot with no mods but the moment I turned on archive invalidation, it fucks the whole thing up and I CTD at start up

Well, my idea couldn't be simpler. I want to make feral synths. I want to make gen 1 and 2 synths that, through exposure to radiation, have underwent data corruption and gone rogue. And so effectively they can just be a rare reskin of feral ghouls meant to show up late game and do electrical damage. You could even have them in the same faction and have them show up as a rare spawn amongst feral packs.

Probably doesn't help that I'm still fresh when it comes to the CK, but I can't make heads or tails of the structure. Need to finish watching those tutorials.

Well, the issue with explosives is that the Institute is deep underground. So the idea popped into my head. Rocketry in the Fallout universe experimented with plasma. This evolved into the plasma rifle. Plasma drilling is actually a thing. All you need to do is keep pumping in energy and it'll keep firing.

I have no idea. Part of me also wants to reimplement the original plan to overthrow Maxson as part of my grander plan, so this may be a joint Minuteman/Brotherhood option.

I'd like to get a thing going where you have a final climactic battle and take the Institute rather than blowing it up, with the final defense having permutations depending on what you did during the game. So if you helped people, they'll show up and the difficulty of this finale piece will get easier. Because this isn't planned to just be the traditional token battle. This is going to be coursers and traditional synths swarming like angry bees. Maybe some new things.

Again, infancy. I'm still learning the basics.

I need to get the Season Pass next time it's on sale. I've never actually completed the vanilla game. I got to the bit right after you teleport to the Institute and then got a bit pissed at how dumb things were getting. Had completed like 100% of sidequests, though. It's all a blur to me now, though. The Institute actually isn't that far down. I mean the elevator goes down like 500 feet but the teleporter and sewer system above it is only like 25 feet down, almost on the same level as a bunker.

The idea of a drill is cool and all, but I imagine you could probably get to the Institute with a lot of well placed explosives, too.

The main part is though a bunch of pipes and broken walls a few synths were ordered to fix. The entrance though all that is from a locked sewer grate with a keypad on the outside.

The really funny thing is that the entrance to that is right under the Ticonderoga safe house, though submerged.
