Not that anon but Blizzard just gave up listening to their players and just does whatever they feel like now more than ever, Legion actually started on a good note but the RNG is tacked on to the levels that I'd almost rather deal with Gatcha boxes than play that game.

Also one thing WoW doesn't, nor do a lot of MMOs have over ESO is variety of content. ESO just feels refreshing to play a lot and to get to the point where you have exhausted everything to do is a very long run. It's not just a PvE endgame rush, It's more sandbox-y and the horizontal gear grind means that content has stayed relevant from launch til now.

Play at whatever pace you're comfy with, the content will wait for you.

1st and 2nd dungeons have similar paths and environment but with different bosses. Mostly 2's are harder and longer than 1's. Vets are +50 dungeons but usually bellow 160 cp gets kicked. And way harder than normals.
You should focus on getting level 50.

I've glided through a lot of vet dungeons with Magtank, and i'm a jackass who doesnt run tavas, ebon or warhorn. Pumped all my CP into mage stuff, set my skills intelligently, and wait for my proc sets to activate.

Is there an easy way of leveling your thieves guild rank? I'm only rank 6 and want to finish the main quest line, but it looks like I have to do those dailies. I don't mind the heists and the collect an item quest, but the pickpocket ones are so annoying.

I have played a lot of MMO's in my day as well, From RuneScape to WoW. It's not so much that i got sick of them, but my friends killed much of the game for me. Really, i took a gamble on this since i knew they wouldn't get it due to (at the time paywall) and the reviews. As i played through the story i truly fell in love with the game and community and have over 800 hours invested in this game. Compared to other games, i simply don't get bored of ESO as i do WoW.

No one makes a point of mentioning it but that's going to be basically the same thing any place without a sewer system and even then with the lack of indoor plumbing people are still probably tossing their chamberpots into the street and hoping it flows into said sewer. Elden Root isn't going to be any worse off than, say, Rivenspire or Mournhold.

Do researching and deconstructing at first, do your dailies (leaving the main proficiency at level 1 means its always the first tier of dailies) then as you start getting excess skill points you can start leveling up the crafts. You can do them all on one character I would suggest picking some to do as primary first and rush those up then move on to the others.

At first they are quick but overtime they take much longer so you want to get ahead of that.

Achemy/Enchanting/Provisioning are secondary because they can be power leveled albeit somewhat expensively

Trapping Webs in the undaunted tree is a tiny area snare, Caltrops in Assault is also an area snare.

Depending on your set up you could backbar a frost staff for magicka blocking and wall of elements which would chill/root enemies.

Keep your blacksmithing, woodworking, and clothing on one character. When you earn motifs, essentially the different styles that you can craft (dwemer, drauger, ancient orc, glass, etc.) the motif is only known to that character. Some of them are pretty rare, like 30k - 50k+ rare, so keep it all on one character.

From what I can see the spell damage increase isn't alot and the Burning status is up alomost all the time since most fire users have Wall of Elements

The increase is quite a bit, and under good circumstances it'll be up ~70% of the time. Also, as a magdk, anything burning takes more damage from my fire attacks (all of my attacks are fire attacks), and my inferno makes everything take even more fire damage. On top of that, I am a dunmer, so my racial bonus of +7% fire damage stacks on top of all of that.

So I've been enticed by the prospect of the free weekend, but I've got a couple of questions first.

1. How viable is singleplay? My hours are erratic and I'd like to still have something fun to do solo.
2. How egregious are the lore fuckups, really? I've heard a lot of salt on the subject in the past but I don't really know how accurate it is. I'm fairly into the lore but don't particularly mind inconsistencies as long as they aren't blatant.
3. How pay-to-win is this game? Is freeplay after the initial buyin reliant or is it just a glorified teaser for paid content.

Your gear gives more scaling at the low levels. In the lower levels, you can use a piece of green gear for 5 or so levels, and a blue for 7 or 8 before really noticing it. Just before level 50, a piece of green gear, maybe 2 levels. Once you hit the champ levels, gear will stop scaling hard and fast, so you better get to grinding.

Tanking in ESO is part tanking, the rest of the time is crowd control, buffing, debuffing, and spot healing.

In big groups, use a CC skill, like choking talons (also inflicts maim on the group, reducing the damage they can do) or undaunted webs, to get the first bit of aggro, and keep enemies still. There are no aoe taunts, so groups of trash mobs just get zerged down.

For single target bosses, use pierce armor to taunt, which also inflicts fracture and breach, lowering physical and spell resists, low-cut to inflict maim and build ultimate, then buff the group fro there. Positioning on fights is important, and harder dungeons have more complex mechanics. You can also spot heal with vigor, and use aggressive warhorn to increase the groups stats and give everyone a crit buff.

Sort of. But you don't really build a lot for survival but for utility; using cc on enemies, interrupt enemies, position yourself so that team-mates don't take damage. That kind of stuff. Tanking isn't as much about being able to take a beating as providing utility for the group and proper positioning. Doesn't matter in normal dungeons but do in veteran dungeons, where shitty positioning will lead to a wipe and knowing when do blow Warnhorn matters.

I have a healer that also has a damage bar.
Do I do alot of damage?
No but Purifying Light, Wall of Flame, Blazing Spear, Radiant Oppression, Honor the Dead all have useful secondary effects to help out the team while still doing damage. Given the right situations I can hit about 14k dps which is decent for a healer i would assume.

Yes, and you should. Harder dungeons will have add and burn phases, or DPS checks that if not met the boss will enrage and one shot everyone. Every little bit of DPS helps. Being a good healer is knowing when to heal, when to do damage, and when to buff or debuffs.

Crafting is helpful if you want to be self sufficient with gear and stuff.
I would say to Reaserch traits on gear and weapons asap, and just do that on the side.

That way if you decide to take up crafting later you have a ton of work out of the way.

mag nb is pretty fun but its not meta right now, no nb is really. its well rounded and good for pve and pvp though so go for it. ID reccomend heal scrubbing at first while you learn pvp, since you can make decent ap and are somewhat useful just using resto staff and your attack that heals you/others

Vampire can be great for pvp with mist to get away from people, essential to some hit and run builds. In pve, a bit less so, just due to how common fire damage is in dungeons.

Do whatever the fuck you want. Just be aware that melee weapon skills will scale their damage off of stamina, so you might need to respec (which is pretty cheap). Stam sorc is in a solid place right now, and is pretty fun to play.

Can't say about magnb, but I really like my magdk. Lots of aoe and dots, can self heal with claws, synergyzes really well with grothdarr, and is a solid class. Downside is that unlike the other mag classes, its best skills are in melee range, so you need to be more aware of boss mechanics. They have shields, but they aren't as potent as a sorcs, and they have the worst sustain out of the mag classes, so weaving and heavy attacks are a necessity to keep going.

Haven't really done too much PvP but the gear scales vertically as you level and then when you hit level 50 and champion point rank 160 thats when the gear cap hits and it is all horizontal. Levels are character specific but Champion Points are account wide.

It means that once you hit the point of horizontal progression nothing will replace your current gear from a purely stats perspective, endgame gear is all set driven.

As an example, all helms at CP160 give 400 stamina no matter where you get them from, meaning if its from the tutorial zone or an endgame trial it all has the same base stats. Only difference is quality of gear.

Well, once you hit champion point 160, gear no longer gets stronger in level. From there, it's up to choices.

Lets use tanking as an example. For many tanks, they use two 5 piece sets of armor and a monster 2 piece. So, chest/legs/hands/belt/feet of one armor set for the 5 piece bonus, and then ring/ring/necklace/main hand/off hand for the second 5 piece bonus, then the two piece monster helm.
