But as long as you have some SP items, early 60s is an okay level to fight Shido at. The main challenge is just that its a long fight. I had to use two somas to finish it, but I was able to finish it fine otherwise.

Also it's just the second palace for you, the fight are easy sure, but the "difficulty" comes from managing your resources trying to finish it as fast as possible instead of wasting time.
Also you'll get more random encounters with enemies with huge HP pools, rare weaknesses or no weaknesses at all in the later palaces.

It isn't all a lie, and he does repent but the story cockblocks him from rejoining by giving him a vague sacrifice instead, probably because a later plot point requires him to be MIA.

Still though like others said he'll return in an enhanced edition or spin off for sure. He's the most popular party member and the story seems almost deliberately tailored to tease the player with as little of him as possible because they know they'll want more.

I think putting Kamoshida as the 1st boss kind of set the bar a little too high for the rest of the game.

Like I remember how furious and emotionally involved I was during the scene where he tells you he's going to get you expelled, and how high the stakes felt, and I didn't really feel that way for anything else, even Goro/Shido/Yaldaboath.

Also he's 100% the most despicable "feeling" of the villains whose hearts you steal. You could say Okumura or Shido was worse in a utilitarian sort of way but taking advantage of kids sexually is probably the worst of all the PT's victims.

I kind of agree in that sense. There's no doubts that some of the other targets are awful people but with Kamoshida you really saw the impact he had and it was a hell of a way to kick start the game and the protagonist's school year. Like you actually see students get physically and sexually abused by Kamoshida and it was completely cathartic to take him down. I didn't really get that same sense of catharsis until Shido, but even then I was just kind of tired at how long his multi phase boss fight and how long his dungeon was so I just wanted to get it over with.

Like... with Kaneshiro and Madarame no one's really in danger unless you fail, and their crimes are kind of just like... implied. They're still horrible of course, but again, with Kamoshida you SEE that shit. Mitsuru's father was a good guy who was taken before his time, forever robbing Mitsuru of being able to have time with her father without the guilt and responsibilty of the Dark Hour incident from hanging over them.

Haru's father's life was over regardless. He'd just rot in jail for the rest of it. Yeah he didn't deserve to die like that and they could have made had some heart to hearts in visiting hours and maybe if he lived a few decades in jail and got out on good behavior, but it's not like she had a bright future ahead with her father that was stolen from her. He was going to be taken out of her life either way.

Mitsuru had everything she'd been working for (being able to ease her father's burdens) ruined forever. Haru had already made her peace with the fact that she was going to basically end her father's life as they knew it anyway.

I think Sae's palace also had some pretty high stakes since you know it was the palace from the beginning of the game, you know that you'll get captured whether you succeed or not, like you know that she'll be after you outside the Metaverse if you fail and you'll still get apprehended in the Metaverse even if you succeed. Then you become privy to the super obvious traitor.

Plus what follows is your faked death and the rather convoluted but still successful gambit of smoking out Akechi. I'd say there's a lot of high stakes here which is pretty fitting given the casino theme.

This would be the ideal scenario and I'm surprised that they didn't go the usual route of redemption through friendship and the truimph of bonds. The biggest giveaway for Akechi for me was the lack of upcoming Confidant abilities. I did get spoiled that Akechi would have Loki but once he joined the team I thought maybe it'd be his evolved Persona. But since nothing showed up in the upcoming Confidant abilities... that was the biggest giveaway.

Otherwise, while I might've found his familiarity with the whole group during the school festival to be odd, I would have had to pick up on pancakes and it never registered with me. I'm just dumb though. Whereas with Adachi, at least in the vanilla version, you kind of just deduce it by process of elimination.
