I've been banging my head against a wall for the past hour and a half, so maybe you guys can help me. At some point while i was throwing mods together, NEI stopped working. I know that its not because I hit o or whatever, because that wont bring it back. So do any of you guys know if any of these mods have compatibility issues with NEI?
>>
>>173841237
I don't know, you may have corrupted something somehow but the first thing you should do is remove chickenchunks and replace it with dimensionalanchors.
Chickenbones is a certified retard and chickenchunks causes all sorts of issues, whereas immibus is actually smart and dimensionalanchors is good.

Maybe it's causing the problem, but probably not.
Try reinstalling everything and diong shit one by one.

I don't know of any compatibility issues but I noticed your pack is missing mekanism, big reactors, enchanting plus, and logistics pipes. You'll probably want to look into those. I'm glad to have helped btw.

I've done quite a bit of IC2 before, should I install gregtech? Are there any mods that reach godlike levels of technology?

Also, what does the endgame for thaumcraft look like? I want to know if it's worth persisting. Obviously the mods good and I have a bunch of addons, but I'm not getting anywhere quickly and it seems like a bunch of work with no payoff yet. I did blood magic all the way through and thought it was interesting with a mob grinder and killing villagers for fun and profit, but the payoff wasn't super satisfying.

>>173850620

No, I was starting a new one. I'd be alright with an insanely expensive tech tree if it meant the benefits of climbing it were sweet as sugar and the toys amazing. I basically had more EU than I could ever hope to use even pumping a huge array of mass fabricators.

It's too bad there's not like a good space exploration bend to minecraft or any mods that I'm aware of. I'd like to reach "abusing the Kardeshev Scale for fun and profit" levels.
>>
>>173844083
The Minecraft Marketplace has some good ones
>>
>>173850834
>the benefits of climbing it were sweet as sugar and the toys amazing

Nope. You just get the same stuff you get from IC2 after a longer climb. If you don't like building giant factories for the sake of building giant factories, you won't like gregtech.
>>
GT new horizons or pack of similar difficulty serb WHEN?
>>
>>173852227
I might do it. IC2 was fun the first time, and I need an excuse to build huge factories and machines. I enjoyed my IC2 setup, but it was simple, and I had a fair bit of fun making my auto plutonium generator. Part of it is that I want the achievement to mean something, and I want a reason to build these huge factories that do something other than a cactus farm that exists to pump out scrap.

I'm basically aiming to build a megacity in an alternate dimension, but I can't imagine having that many villagers living there, much less actual people using it, but I want enormous industry, power consumption etc. Gregtech will fit that bill, correct?

Too bad there's no one mod that combines this with attempting to reach the singularity.
>>
>>173852261
I could host it, but my server probably isn't much good. I'd love to host it but I'm not willing to spend money on renting an actual server if people will play on it for a week and then the server dies.

Such is the nature of our serbs.
>>

>>173853018

>>
>>173854007
I was thinking about it. The other guy obviously wants it. I honestly was wanting to host it just so I can go on a power trip and then fuck around with cool mods. Even if I had op I'd still progress normally. I just love the prospect of having the option to do things even if I never do them.

I haven't played minecraft in ~2 years.

Get archimedes, some structure mod plus some village generator like Millenaire (doubt) or AW, and also get a terrain mod like BoP or whatever you like.
>>
>>173874432
infinity evolved or beyond
>>
Returning player here. I bought in during alpha and last played with friends before Notch left/Microsoft bought.
Have there been any MAJOR gameplay changes beyond just building/surviving?
Any "required" mods (like quality of life things) or is vanilla fine?
>>
>>173875763
are you for real? are you seriously expecting people to list all the changes mojang has done to the game in 6+ years?
>>
>>173875817
That's why I specified MAJOR changes.
I remember hitting trees, making a crafting table, and building a house in a cliff. Is that still achievable with the same method? or do I need to do x y and z instead?
>>
>>173874432
>>173875250
Both are garbage kitchen sink packs which can be used to get an off-taste of what the popular mods are for each version. Infinity Evolved is on 1.7.10 which is the version with the most mods and less performance issues while Beyond is on 1.10 which has less mods and performs worse.

>>
>>173875763
>>173875928
the only real major change is that you can't carry around an inventory full of porkchop and be immortal anymore, there's a hunger system now
rest of the changes are either pointless shit with no real purpose (like the new dimension, The End) and/or garbage fluff mojang keeps adding to entertain the underaged masses
at the end of the day this is still the same building and resource hoarding autism simulator it was when it first released

mods are not only suggested but required if you want to play the game for more than an hour without gouging your eyes out

A 12GB server costs like 25 dollars monthly, if I'd want to step into the actual market of hosting servers, I'd have to host at like 10 dollars for 12GB.
I'm not certain how most server hosts handle core per server either, so I'm left doing guessing games and tests myself at the moment to see how the most functional shit would go.
>>
>>173878324
just go for it lad

there's literally no way to combat this apart from dropping a ban on the person responsible. powergamers and autists will always find some new way to fuck up a server with whatever 'efficient' build they can think of which, when left chunkloaded, will leave the server on less than 5 TPS.

is agricraft actually good?
>>
>>173908209
I found it silly. Farming is never all that hard anyway. It also misses the point I think. Should have less server impact than large farms. But with sprinklers and 10/10/10 crops the lag is even worse. Do you need 100k wheat per minute? Have at it.

>>173889268
Its not the best option for a more magic focused pack but I think its ok. Try Immersive Engineering for that instead

I am such a gullible sucker when it comes to Minecraft skins. I have a shit load of favorited skins on PlanetMinecraft. I have an entire folder filled with skins I've saved whenever I came across them. I am also so much of a faggot that I even bought a couple of skin packs for the 360, PS4 (like one), and Windows 10 Edition.

I really like how the Windows 10 edition skin packs rely more on originality than IP. Their first IP pack came in the form of the Power Rangers. I know Journey to the West is a book, but it's not a major IP.

The Chinese Mashup Pack came out today and I absolutely love the skins in it. The texture pack is alright, neat extra, and the map is well built even though it feels mediocre. The music that comes with it is gorgeous.

It's pretty easy to get burnt out on vanilla, dude, don't say that like it's some impossible feat.

Sure, you can build forever in vanilla, but aside fromt hat, it doesn't do anything in terms of having goals to accomplish or challenges to rise to.
I say this as someone who's pretty lenient about vanilla and enjoys seeing people come up with neat shit with redstone. outside of building and redstone, vanilla's not got much.
it is cool you have found a way to enjoy the game in terms of art sets with the textures and skins, though. A good map and texture pack combo could be neat to explore, especially with mechanics enhanced with command blocks.

Any decent set up to fight said boss will have enough regen that you never have to worry about the wither effect or getting hit.
Plus the damage smoke is pretty visible although you don't really have time to notice or avoid it before he teleports again.

From what I can tell it's another mod unrelated to those. It was colored lights core. I know it's possible for mods to crash the game or refuse to load at all unless other specific mods are present (we actually went over this with hardcore darkness in either this or the previous thread), so I'm going to guess it's perfectly reasonable that adding more mods to the pack than what was given could have similar consequences, either by design or mistake.

Anyway, I'll probably omit that one from the pack. Guess I'll just have to deal with not having colored lights Until the server dies and I download my factory and export it to my own server.

I just discovered how broken the Jaw Crusher from AMT2 is.
It can recycle damaged armor, tools and weapons into ingots of the corresponding material with a one-nugget-per-ingot net loss. For example, a damaged Gold Chestplate (originally worth 8 ingots or 72 nuggets) is recycled into 64 Gold Nuggets. Mob systems produce tons of iron and gold armor, and each piece of dropped armor can be directly converted into nuggets instead of repairing to full durability and feeding them into a Smeltery.

Sadly, it doesn't seem to work on Chain armor.

Explaining this better: the redstone relay can be attached to any Thermal Dynamics duct, and it can either output a redstone signal, get a redstone signal input from somewhere else, or work as a comparator (the first button). The second button lets you choose whether the signal will be sent as it is, inverted, or throttled so it can only be sent if it's above or below a certain value.
The setup in the background of that picture has a relay working as a comparator connected to that fluxduct, then another relay outputting the redstone signal and inverting it.
This is probably the most overlooked feature in the entire Thermal Something faily.

>>
>>174008590
Books guarantee you get exactly what you want, but you can always use them to spice up armor that's already enchanted

Say you enchant a chestpeice, you might get projectile prot instead of general protection, and you can't override it with a book, so it's a bit of a risk.

You can get a broad range of enchants cheaper by enchanting the item itself, but you might get some shit you don't want on it.

If you have a mob grinder or good source of XP, just go with books

>>
>>174009723
Truth be told, general prot4 on everything is best. Some things to consider. If you get exploded a lot, blast prot stops some knockback, if you are on fire a lot, fire prot reduces the total time you are on fire. These perks are really only worthwhile if you encounter problems with this shit a lot. And even so, you'd only want it on a maximum of 3 peices (the background calculations for these enchants max at a certain value and adding more on top is pointless)

If your modpack somehow has a way to get prot 5, that on 4 peices of everything gives you fully maxed out protection from all damage types.

Yea I ended up scrapping the idea of removing mods from the pack. Its too hard to resolve the dependancies with how bad I am at reading logs and figuring out what's wrong. Plus, some mods have built in crashes if something like Hardcore Darkness is removed, and they don't play well with the few mods I wanted to add, for some reason. So it looks like a regular GTNH server for the time being.

Am I adding faction mods or anticheat or anything? I only have worldedit and spawn commands for stuff outside of what the server pack already gave me.
>>
>>174021034
Piratepad is one of the sites you can just host an etherpad on, though it's not as reliable as the one trainserb uses.
>>
>>174021034
You'll probably want something like KCauldron, which can fuck up some mods functionality.

If you don't want that, INpure for NEI culling, Opis (can conflict), tickdynamic(can also conflict) and maybe ftb essentials if you like stupid shit.
Also maybe some way of generating chunks and world border to reduce lag for users.

I'm kinda going to go through the phase you went through. Instead of using AE2 I'm gonna rely more on BC+LP for a month or two and see how I like it.

>>
>>174021726
I might do something like world restore. There was a plugin on a server I used to play on that would regenerate each chunk back to world default if it wasn't claimed by a faction. I really hate it when people use explosives or nuke their base or something and it ends up fucking up the landscape.
>>
>>174021726
>world border

>>
>>174018674
The problem isn't whether it is OP or not. It's whether it takes away player intervention too much or not.

I personally hate full automation and prefer things to be done with semi-automation—no crafters except for cobblestone/stone generators, and most processes can be turned off and on.

Quarries also remove the risk of getting killed while trying to stock up on ores.
>>
>>174019902
The biggest advantage of AE2+LP is storing all your shit in one block while still using LP's crafting, item allocation and so on. I don't think you'd benefit much from the opposite since you'd end up just using AE2 without storage cells.

>>174022661

Depends on if mods want to work with it. Kcauldron is easy to set up but some server mods wont work with it. I'd personally just go with something that logs events and allows restores, as well as backups every few days. Something like core-protect or that other anti-griefing.
Just make sure you're using mods/plugins for the correct version or you'll get errors.
>>
>>174031853
>Coreprotect
>no 1.7.10 version
Fuck. The Worldguard mods looks pretty good and won't require kcauldron, but then I feel like I need a decent faction plugin because I want people to be able to build in peace on whatever forts or strongholds they want to throw together. I know Bukkit has at least a few decent faction plugins that fit that bill. It's not just about getting collaboration, it's just obnoxious if you have nowhere you can go to do your thing. WoW taught me that world PvP with no way to progress until the faggots leave you alone is an obnoxious mode of gameplay.

Prism is the one I used on magicserb. Also never really had a problem with anyone griefing or fighting because everyone just kept to themselves. asides from that one guy that was really bad at griefing and made a giant stone pyramid up in the sky.
Having said that, there are a few plugins that offer protection modules to players, theres one that I forget the name on but it grants increased plot size the longer you've been on.

Factions always seemed kind of lame to me though. Maybe I'll autism and make that magic v tech serb people wanted now that I know how to limit crafting to groups.
>>
>>174034328
Playing with something like that is basically the same thing, you might as well just use AE if you're going the MAWPC route
>>
>>174034424
What about the inventarium from that thaumcraft mod?
>>
>>174034371
If I can trust people to do their own thing instead of spending tons of time fucking with each other it'll be fine. I'll probably install a jail plugin and just jail people being obnoxious and ban them if they don't knock it off. If it proves to be a chronic problem I'll move over to an actual faction plugin. I'm not super worried about it since I do almost all of my work far, far off the beaten trail.

Magic vs Tech sounds like fun.

Can you guys help me with mods? Been out of the loop for a while.

Here's what I'm looking for:
>machines allowing some automation, ore processing etc
>pipes to transport items / link machines
>a storage system
>quarry and a pump block

That's basically it. No magic mods at all. I'd like to get this in as few mods as possible to keep it stable and preferably without each mod adding their own version of copper or whatever.

I'm a fan of lower-tech mods, don't really like lasers, teleporting, wireless crap etc.

Well you can avoid the copper problem with unidict. Still adds a bunch of copper, but they're interchangeable now.

>>
>>174090947
literally look up any basic modding tutorial for 1.7.10, the first part is usually adding a simple block with a texture

will take you maybe a day after figuring out the work environment/forge stuff

the actual coding is just copypaste from the tutorial
>>
>>174093167
if you extract the texture, you can port it easily

no idea where it's stored tho (also, if it's a paid texture pack, I doubt you can do it unless you buy it)

I did buy it and the files for W10E are in a weird place compared to Java, I'd have to look that up again. I mostly ask because I also got a cartoon pack that I've been hunting for some time now. I cannot seem to find good cartoony packs since most look like shit and this one just seemed to tickle me the right way especially for the early Windows nostalgia for some reason.

The best thing is you can use whatever suits you. it's not like the versions of the mods are going anywhere, and it's not like you can't bounce between packs or serbs if you want. Sometimes it's nice to explore the cutting edge and see what's new, then return to what's well established.

Why are you stopping people from having fun? It's just a game.

This goes to both 1.8+ and 1.7.10- players, by the way: If someone has fun in 1.10.2, let them. If they have fun in 1.11, let them. If they have fun in 1.7, 1.6.4, or 1.2.5, also let them. It's a game, and everyone can play it their way, as long as they're having fun the goal of a game is achieved.

At this point in time, however, it's not inappropriate to call anything past 1.7.10 meme versions because they literally have nothing to offer besides chisels and bits, and inconsequential updates to a few mods; unless something massive escaped me.

As far as magic mods go, Roots and Embers are on 1.11
There's also the betweenlands coming up as a replacement for the likely dead twilight forest
Astral Sorcerery also seems pretty good and has a fair amount of content, though it's not my cup of tea
I'll gas myself right after you, aspie
>>
>>174126246
Also, I think someone is still working on porting Twilight Forest to 1.10+ on GitHub, though the progress is fairly slow.
>>
>>174126246
Oh, there's also Thaumcraft getting rewritten from the ground up again, though given what "progress" that's had so far it could easily be another year before the next full release
>>

Theres also Valkyrian Warfare, and Immersive Engineering is getting a lot of concrete like turrets or liquid concrete, or neon tubes, and many more utilities.
>>

nuclear reactors when?
>>
>>174126551
I think Damian H made a IE nuclear model some time ago, but Jewsunrize is currently working in IE farms which is a plant in a jar with some steampunk shit plugged in.

*autist

Those seem interesting, might make a pack involving them.
Now what about tech mods?
From what's been posted and what I've personally seen there's been literally nothing innovative whatsoever released.

>>174126503
>Valkyrian Warfare
I completely forgot about that one since that one anon using it who made his own custom textures stopped posting.
>>
>>174126852
He promised us a full server dedicated to Valkyrian Warfare, comfy PP textures, and scavenging the world after the post apocalyptic mayhem.
>>
>>174126852
Sadly techmods are just the ports of the 1.7.10 mods (and IE which has been adding content since 1.8.9-1.9.4) so 1.7.10 wins this round
>>
>>174126852
>Now what about tech mods?
Grindy shit that rarely offers anything outside of automation and almost always doesn't fit minecraft's aesthetic, so I don't care

That train specifically is for construction, so it carries a fuckton of tracks and things like bridge pieces to wherever I am going, and it takes away whatever shit I dig out while making tunnels.

Now that reminds me, I have to fix my Thaumcraft building.
It should look like a Colonial-style building, but it has too many pillars to be appropriate.

Still sorting out materials, but I'm sure that the rough Chiseled Cobblestone will have to go. I will have to make a ton of Green Stained Glass too.
>>
>>174136306
I actually rather like it. I'd suggest using chisel to break up the facade a bit more and give it a bit more detail, but other than that I think it looks pretty good overall

I'd like to use the brown roof tile from Botania, but that means farming for tons and tons of clay. There's also some space out there for some Quartz, which I can easily duplicate also thanks to Botania.

Tons of Quartz and Roof Tiles later, here it is.
You can say it's much flatter than it was before, but that's how colonial-style buildings were if they are mostly painted white. The other kinds were made of mostly brick. I still need a lot of Flint Blocks to complete the details on the sides and back.

Meanwhile, I finally decided to add some greenery on the front yard. A simple grass path should suffice. I had to use Botania Dry Grass on the part with the "mausoleum" because the area is in an Eerie biome, causing grass to turn up almost black in color. The log blocks were supposed to be part of a Mana Bean farm, but I'm still lacking an Aer mana bean to actually start.

Next thing I need to think about automating is a netherrack farm, because the warp core costs at least 135 titanium, and the only source of titanium dust is nether gravel.

>>
>>174148121
Well if is comparable to my experience setting up GoG mobs with ZA, you will want to tinker the performances settings, range, updates, mob numbers, etc.

Out of the box ZA is balanced for zombies, adding more mobs means considering the strength and counts of the other mobs.
>>
>>174166345
dood why are you not testing your oregen before playing. run cofh clearblocks on some throwaway worlds, clear out dirt / stone / whatever other bullshit stone your modlist adds like marble limestone etc.
