I can't really play with any friends since I can't party with them, most of the quests are tedious (even the story quests so far), and grinding is even more tedious since you get less XP than you do for quests.
I'm about level 15 now on my Arcanist, and I know this will probably sound inflammatory, but when does this game get fun? Am I missing something?

Which of these 5 cross-class skills should I use on Dark Knight, and how should I prioritize them slot-wise? I've heard mixed opinions ingame. Some say swap out Mercy Stroke for Foresight depending on what content I'm doing, others have said that Foresight is better than Bloodbath and I shouldn't bother with Bloodbath. DRK is gonna be my first tank and I wanna hear advice from you shi-- I mean, professional and well-respected individuals.

I use convalescence, bloodbath, foresight, awareness, mercy stroke, and provoke. I would make a priority of the GLD skills, just run a bunch of PoTD and dungeons.

It's really good because in those fights the boss will do guaranteed crits that you can freely negate.
Obviously gear with other mitigation will cover it eventually, but it's nice to have if you don't want pug healers to let you die.

Foresight - srs math done here only leads this to reduce physical damage by like 7% or something. Would substitute Blood Bath if you really want.

Mercy Stroke - its cooldown wont make you the bestest dps per second ever and timing the healing effect is not worth it

Bloodbath sounds cool and all but I only get use out of it when the healer dies and I need to set up a Siphon Rotation. Even then Siphon does most of the healing. Bloodbath is mostly for Warriors spamming Overpower

I use Provoke, Bloodbath, Mercy Stroke, Conv, and Foresight. I don't know why you'd use awareness outside of fights where you knew there were guaranteed crits. Seems like a little too much "just in case" to use it outside of that situation. Maybe I am biased because I'm a healer main and I can still keep most retards alive. I can't really think of a situation in a dungeon or something where a crit has killed a tank. I've had them die on me in fcob and savage to crit auto attacks, but never during expert or anything like that. I actually don't think foresight is that bad when used with other stuff. DRK AoE damage is unaspected but bloodbath is still good.

Whew, finally did my first couple of dungeons with my friend. They're pretty easy, but it's still entertaining enough, and I'm sure it'll get REALLY interesting when the dungeons are hard enough that fucking up and losing aggro can mean death.

It's weird, though. It felt like we didn't even need a tank. It might just be because when I fucked up and lost aggro, it was only one enemy at a time and the healer could cover that, but I felt strangely less than useful. Oh well.

Secondary currency used to purchase endgame gear and crafting materials.

Tomestones of Poetics you should have some already, those are used to buy level 50 gear and certain items for Relic weapons if you care about that.

Tomestones of Lore will be the first "endgame" tomestones you earn, which is used to buy level 60, item level 230 gear, and a bunch of crafting materials.

Tomestones of Scripture are the next ones you'll start earning which get you i260 gear, but those have a weekly cap to prevent poopsocking into full sets of 260 and to arbitrarily extend subscription times.

The HW story is pretty good. Or at least that's how I feel about it. It'll at least make most of the levelling a little less dreary and PotD will help you fill any gaps in if things get dreary.

Palace of the Dead. It's a bunch of randomized floors (outside of bosses) with an individual leveling system within the dungeon but every time you complete 10 floors without wiping you get a shitton of EXP for a very efficient amount of time spent and also get to play around with level 60 skillsets for jobs you haven't finished leveling yet as a bonus.

Palace of the Dead is basically a bunch of self-contained 10 floor random tile arrangement dungeons. You start at floor 1 and at level 1 and your gear is irrelevant since throughout the dungeon you get chests that will power up your weapon and your armour that carries over between dungeons.

Every 10th floor is a boss and when you beat the boss you get to checkpoint from there and it gives you some experience, some tomestones, and it saves the level of the bonuses to your PotD gear.

There's 100 dungeon floors in all if you're just doing it with randoms, and at the end of floors 50 and 100 you get a token that can be used to get stuff like materia or minions or a mount. If you work with a pre-defined group there's more dungeon floors to clear.

Also levelling up you get access to the abilities and traits you haven't got yet if you're doing PotD to level. It's kinda popular amongst DPS classes cause much of it can be done entirely with DPS classes so long as you're clever.
