I'm starting a new F:NV playthrough.

Are there any good charts / forms to help me put together a new character? (I.e name, likes, dislikes)

Would any of you guys be willing to help me make a new character?

I'm good at rping, I'm just shit at making the character from the get go.

Thanks in advance

Well I can tell you about my personal preference.

I'd say stack up on intelligence and luck special. Your gun wont jam and you get max amount of skillpoints to allocate for level with high intelligence.
With high luck you can also get ridiculously easy caps in Casinos when gambling.
And if you used a couple of perks to raise your endurance
>up to 7
you can get all the implants, making your character even stronger.

Dont waste perk points on those extra xp perks.

That way you can almost get all skills maxed out before you hit levelcap, if you took your time looking for skillbooks.

That will suck for melee characters if you fancy those, but you can get trough almost all skillchecks and speech options.

>Laser weapons are awesome, but with certain perks, when the floor is covered with gooified enemies, looting them becomes a pain in the ass

Alternatively, have an empty settlement just for it.

Also in places like Shady Sands, they are adobe or "sandcrete" structures, so they wouldn't be very tall. Reno's buildings are multi-story atleast.

Play as a girl who is pretty, agile, and lucky, but is weak, dumb, and oblivious (strong CHA/AGI/LUK, poor STR/PER/INT). Tag Speech, Sneak, and Explosives. Play with a balance mod that makes thrown weapons rely on STR, and have weak STR and PER so she loves using explosives but she's actually bad it it. Be a kleptomaniac. Go full House or Yes Man, befriend the Boomers, and blow everything up at the end of Lonesome Road. Bonus points to use Sexout and Unethical Deeds, and play the game like a run-or-rape game.

Make up your own Fallout faction and briefly describe it.

>Tribals originating from Carolina/Georgia bumpkins and jive shuckers. They inhabit a joint collection of theme parks, using juryrigged water slides to quickly cover ground. Invaders, raiders and other offenders are sat on a ceremonial rollercoaster and driven around as a form of torture. Tribals dress up using old Halloween totally-not-Six Flags mascot costumes.

> Tribals originated from Chesapeake bay that believe that the mirelurk is the reincarnation of their god. They have gotten this notion since their surroundings had everything related with mirelurks picture. The rite of passage to adulthood is to survive a horrible rash on the legs (knowns as crabs coincidentially) They are armed white and blue gear (or if you wanna be not to 50s purple gear somehow) for their heavy forces while their lighter forces use a combination of white and orange. Chinese naval carrier stranded at sea when the bombs fell. The onboard staff bred over the years and ended up creating a mini society where they take many smaller boats out of the naval carrier to trade with the U.S. wastelands. They operate with merchants to sail around the coasts, getting hard-to-find stuff quickly. Radiation has made the ocean extremely dangerous though and their naval carrier is breaking down so they ask the player character to help them settle on land somehow. They're dirty commies though so they're pretty authoritarian, not very nice, look down on wastelanders despite trading with them often and are sneaky. They have at least one working fighter jet and a lot of high quality military equipiment (mostly stealth suit variants and stealth-oriented weapons.)

I tend to headcanon my characters as part of some Enclave-esque faction rebuilding the united states, making alliances between the various factions.

Like a combination of House and Minutemen I guess.

For example in 3 ideally what could have happened-

>Enclave and BOS team up after talking with President Eden and convincing them that the people of the wasteland are American citizens and as such should be protected, BoS end up more as a bunch of librarians with guns- which is fine, because there's now new tech being invented so they can hoard all the busted junk they want
>this also closes the schism between the Outcasts and they rejoin, with the more idealistic Brotherhood members joining Anon's Mary-Sue Friendship Faction or the reformed Enclave
>Naturally not all the Enclave is fine with this change, a bunch of them leave Raven Rock and set up shop again

Wandering gatorclaws resulting from the Nuka-World ones breeding exponentially. But they're gene spliced and as a result highly intelligent (even if nobody knows it because they can't talk.)

Occasionally you'll see one in a settlement acting as a guard or something but like real alligators they are very solitary. They scare off looters and pretty much anybody they come across but are neutral, easily spooked by large groups of humans. Hate super mutants and ghouls, will rip them apart on sight. Can talk to deathclaws in limited capacity but deathclaws are assholes and don't usually listen.

a raider gang thats origin isnt fully known
>Found a massive hockey rink
>Established a base of operations there
>After studying what holotapes and reading there was, as well as looting the place they reorganize and equip themselves

>leader is now called "Coach"
>Internal disputes are solved by elite force known as Referees, wearing distinkt black and white
>Head referee wearing a distinctively coloured helmet
>High ranking members wear heavy padding of goalie
>troops wear player gear
>travel around as "Lines" of 6 which have Wingers, Center and Defensemen and a Goalie in the lead
>Larger raids are carried out by several Lines called a team
>All of the gear has been in a raider fashion, jury rigged in many ways with reinforcing plates, but have that hockey look
>non combatant members wear fan merchandise

>Common weapons include skate swords and axes, made from repurposed hockey skate blades and sticks

>Hockey pucks are carried as patches of honor and status symbols, worth several caps

One of their most terrifying weapons is a fucking Zamboni, used to bulldoze enemy fortifications. Slow, but heavily modified, it drags a fortified sled, which has a Line inside of it, ready to burst forward to attack the defenders of the settlement.

And this can be applied to many areas around the united states, sporting colours of the local team.

The idea that immediately sprang to mind was to basically take the 2 versions of every gun part, combine them into 1 super-record, have that be the modification, and have it where the entries are switched between via an in-game key.

I don't know if that makes sense or not. But like, you have the variables for automatic and semi-automatic fire in the game already.

Can someone tell me why Synths aren't non-hostile to the SS from the very start? Do they explain it? It seems like Shaun wouldn't want a report that includes "Oh by the way, your [parent] got pwned by a gen1 with a laser gun that can't hit the broad side of a barn in the wind today".

because I have a feeling that the player is a synth replacement. Set out there by Father, who wants to see what a Synth who thinks its people would do.
A controlled experiment of sorts.
It might even be a secret pet project that very little, if none of the other Institute staff know about. Thats why the Synths are hostile to you, like you're any other Wastelander.

The ravens are institude monitoring devices, and they're there, no matter where you go, they keep tabs on you for Father.

Its also a way for Father to feel some sort of parents love, which he has never had. Watch as the Synth who thinks is your parent, tries to find you.

Back when I streamed, NV my viewers and I kicked around the idea of a vault full of LARPers who took it too seriously, as a way to introduce the kind of medieval weapons and armor that inevitably get modded in in a more lore-friendly way.

Probably some kind of internal conflict brewed over the years like an evil "empire" taking over certain parts of the vault, or a rebellion against the "king" of the vault, but since it's all LARP equipment no one actually dies, and the player would have the option to show them how to sharpen their weapons or not.

I wish I knew how to actually implement the mod ideas I have. Currently trying to think through that firing mode thing.

So I think the setting is depending on a modifier known as bautomatic. TRUE means automatic, FALSE means semi-automatic. So really you bind the modifier to a hotkey as a toggle and you have a firing mode selector. Don't know how to do that, but even then you need to set things up so only the weapons that make sense to go automatic can go automatic. Again, I don't know how to do that, either.

Why not:

Probably the America in Fallout had become stuck in a downward spiral of unsustainable perpetual growth in a corrupt caricature of capitalism. The reason why there are almost no functioning cars left two centuries after the collapse of society is that even before the war, cars were deliberately constructed to require constant, expensive maintenance. Basically planned obsolescense on a huge scale.

It would fit nicely into the whole idea of the world running out of resources. They didn't run out of resources. They threw away things that were made to break so they would need to be replaced.
>>
>>173646725

>>
>>173646340

Despite that being hilarious House suspiciously grits his teeth and forgives a lot of bullshit you do.

>try to lowball him for the platinum chip
>he gets annoyed but agrees to pay you more anyway
>refuse to give him the chip up to the very last dialogue prompt, then give it to him
>calls you a fucking imbecile but lets you in on his plans anyway
>ask incessant questions rather than do what he asks
>he rubs his forehead and sighs but explains it to you anyway
>do everything wrong
>can practically hear him slamming his head on his cryopod but he just sends you off on the next mission
>can get villified with the strip but House himself wont ever attack you unless you blow up his securitron army
>if you plant a bug on his systems he just goes "Seriously?"

For whatever reason House realizes you're the main character so he gives you an enormous amount of wiggle room. I feel like you could direct a nuke toward the Strip and he would just ask why you even bothered trying when he shot down 68 of them, then casually ask you to destroy the Brotherhood of Steel.

nuclear powered, required coolant for their reactors. it's why they're radioactive when they explode.

as long as the pipe out of the bowl isn't blocked, you can fill up the cistern with water manually, or just dump a bucket in the bowl.

setting up an outhouse or composting toilet isn't hard, either. all you need at minimum is a shovel. if you want a box for privacy and stuff to wipe your ass with, it's more work, but hardly rocket science.

I'm doing various missions, trying out new weapons, warframes, mods, and combinations of all of the above. I'm enjoying new content and generally doing new stuff so it doesn't get boring.

Warframe does require a certain mindset to really enjoy though I think and it's certainly not for everyone, all but one of my friends very quickly put it down save for the one guy who got totally hooked on it when I suggested it.

Vault 1080 is an Nvidia ad, but a decent dungeon crawl. Revolted isn't lore friendly, but it's fun and well made. Everything else is fairly lore friendly and avoids overdoing reddit memes, with the exception of Tales of the Commonwealth, which is a mixed bag with some good content and some cringey stuff. Maxwell's World, Institute Story and The Code are the ones I liked the most.

Look up Concussion. There are some interior mods that are good, as well. Beantown Interiors and Subway Runner. I'm checking out an Enclave player home mod that comes with a quest, too. Cant say if it's good yet, new playthrough just started.

Ethanol would be rare because you need a fuckton of vegetable matter to do that, and most farming is subsistence levels at best. There is nothing to say simple combustable things haven't been in use (there is a neat mod for NV where you can use the Stovetop/Oven units to cook campfire food, you may have to repair it and/or add flamer fuel units to get it working); and as you said there are flamers and the like. But that's a far cry from maintaining an internal combustion engine, or keeping fuel around. Biofuel would have problems of maintaining quality and efficiency (with modifying and maintaining engines to use it).

In any case, as far as cars go, I'm sure there would be working cars around, but they wouldn't be that prevelant, so the lack of them in the Gamebryo games doesn't bother me as far as world building goes.

I said this since the beginning, the best you're going to get out of FO4 is by overhauling the settlements into a cozy post-apocalyptic life simulator.

People have made mods bullshitting it, but I'm looking at it trying to figure something out right now and just can't figure it out.

>>
>>173665291
To clarify, I want to see what exactly the bautomatic scripting is. It's a true false property that dictates if a weapon fires automatic or not. If you changed it to not be a definite and instead turned it into a toggle bound to a button, boom. You can up the damage of every automatic receiver and you have semi-auto and automatic firing modes with the bautomatic property.

So I'm trying for a playthrough I've never really done in NV and it boils down to "female Courier working for Caesar's Legion". Feel free to call me a sack of shit but the plan so far is to play her as some kind of ex-NCR sharpshooter that Caesar kept to pass around to "worthy" Legionnaires for sexual favors until she was properly broken and subservient, and now he basically uses her (both physically and otherwise) to hunt troopers, rangers, et al while still dressing as one herself. Ordinarily she'd be breeding stock but she's barren, an extremely good shot, and atypical enough a Legion operative that she's usually above suspicion when operating "behind enemy lines". The reason I'm trying this is because I want to see how long I can work for the NCR while also doing things in the Legion's interests and because I've never actually played a stealthy sniper in NV, sided with Caesar, or even worn any form of ranger armor despite really liking the look of it. So, three birds and one stone.

that other anon wasn't helpful at all, but he was probably referring to the fact that the ps4 version of the game has the most limited selection of mods. Sony doesn't allow mods that use non-vanilla assets or that don't just edit game settings like ENBs.

A pc that can run modern games is a good investment, if you play a lot of games that is. Especially if your main interest is bethesda games like fo4 and skyrim.

If not, then to answer your original question, the companion app is cute but doesn't add much actual content and is pretty optional. But if you have it then there isn't much reason not to use it, and it is cute.

It doesn't sound like you're going for realism, so no. Although I'd argue for PA giving +7str rather than set to 11.

>It doesn't sound like you're going for realism, so no.
Trying to fit the setting while tweaking things to present more and better options.

PAs have an ablative coating that makes it where lasers can't find a target. Lasers do more damage the more you focus a beam on something. Plasma in the Fallout-verse is so devastating because if it hits a dude in power armor suddenly they won't have power armor. It works like Necron green shit according to the Outcast files in F3.
>>
>>173671767
May just keep the ablative coating as a mod for PA instead of an inherent thing.

Lasers do damage by concentrating energy on a very fine point to create intense heat on that point. The idea that they have building damage is fine for balance mechanics or whatever, but it's not very realistic. Assuming neither you or the target moves, the chance of hitting the exact same spot is very low.

But also, for PA, lasers would realistically be worthless against them because they're such a short burst, even if it was enough energy to cause the steel/whatever to melt, it would simply cool right back off causing maybe a dimple in the armor.

Plasma in the FO universe (as I understand it) is basically energy-acid. Armor penetration might be a bit of a stretch, but I would rather see it be something like armor reduction, 20% of the affected piece's contribution per shot, stacking.

That's all just me being picky, though. Just a game, do what you like.

That sounds retarded and laughably out of character. Caesar himself is too much of an intellectual to rape as much as his Legion does and if the Legion did rape your character she'd be tied up at a base, not sent out on risky missions.

https://files.catbox.moe/5t1okf.webm

>Cannon barrel - BFG 9000. Low rate of fire. Will make the "clip size" something like 3 rounds. As of right now it won't work with a standard receiver. Needs turbo at minimum.
https://files.catbox.moe/0g3kja.webm

>Beam barrel - Plasma beam. INSANELY HIGH RATE OF FIRE. Infinite range and reach. Very slight splash, for aim assist on very far away targets. Basically a precision sniper weapon but can slice through tons of guys from 59,000 feet away (if you could see them). Damage is like 2, with perks. Locked behind killing Plas-Man.
https://files.catbox.moe/rzetdo.webm

So, any ideas, questions, or concerns so far? I'm all ears, since now I'm in the balancing phase of the weapon. Also going to make +20% damage, +40% damage, etc mods for the gun so anyone can get the damage to where they want it to be.

Yeah, I'm gonna check to see how that works.

>>173683937

Ah, and the winged deathclaws were itchin' for round two!

Actually this time it will be a lot of gen 2 synths with plasma casters. They'll die fast but they'll have massive firepower. I don't think I'll give every single one of them their own plasma caster though, that would likely lag the game and instantly get you killed the second you fuck up.

I kinda want to make it so it pays to be stealthy this time around, rather than making them all damage sponges. Plas-Man himself will be a little spongey, but I think I'll make his health something similar a winged deathclaw, or maybe make his Power armor have a unique ability (that you yourself can get if you kill him) where energy damage heals and recharges his AP. Though that would make my own plasma casters useless against him, so idk yet.

Any suggestions for a rifle weapon mod, that looks rugged and is damagewise between radium rifle and gauss rifle?

In my current playtrough of survival, I've blown my way trough the wasteland with a Plasma Infused Radium Rifle for about 20 levels now.
It has nice looks and all, but looking at the same weapon for so long gets boring.

Not really. They have nothing in common with 40k marines aside from "marine" in their name and wearing power armor. Might as well claim the Doom Slayer or Mobile Infantary of Starship Troopers are a "really shoddy mesh up of space marines and imperial guard".

Baseline humans surviving in the face of near impossible odds is fun (at least more fun to me than some nigh-unkillable mini god of war). The two big reasons why Terran Marines even wear Power Armor in the first place is both to demonstrate how much stronger the alien races are in comparison given how easily a Terran Marine dies on the field of battle (official statistics claim life expectancy is less than eight seconds after boots touch ground in a combat drop), and to provide some means of being able to fight on top of a space station or in a vacuum, which is fairly commonplace in Starcraft.

The "power armor" in question is unbelievably crap besides, it's essentially an astronaut's space suit with a rudimentary exoskeleton and armor plating no more impressive than 40k's carapace armor. It's known to malfunction in combat and a stiff jolt to the wrong spot will cause it to "lock" in place, turning it into a glorified coffin for the unfortunate trooper caught inside.

Terran Marine gauss rifles are superior ballistic weapons though, at least according to Andy Chambers, and he should know.

Any marine with a name in the fiction. There's a reason why "movie marines" is a term. The tabletop rules =/= lore and you know it. A lucky roll with a lasrifle or a bayonet is enough to potentially take down a space marine and that simply isn't the case unless the author is skewed in favor of fucking the marines over. If the marine has a name, there's a good chance otherwise that he's fully able to murderlize a solid 100+ orks, guardsmen, nids, eldar, or even Necrons before being taken down without even donning his powersuit.

That's neither here nor there though, first this image here
>>173686642

Flamers, rippers, super sledges and even T-51 power armor in the original game were admitted by the creators of Fallout to be a bit of a nod both to 40k and some of the stuff in GURPs upon which the system itself was based.

But 40k and a lot of other settings all draw from a common well.

Space Marines are really just a glorified rip-off of Sardaukar from Dune.

What always gets me is when 40k fans want to act like everything in their favorie setting is 100% original and being liberally ripped off by everyone else, when 40k itself was designed as a mish-mash of popular sci-fi stuff. Some of the original Rogue Trader minis were even named for some of the colonial marines in Aliens. To this day it's full of little references and nods. Come on, "Sly" Marbo? A Tzeentchian realm that is literally just a pastiche of the Wizard of Oz?

The setting itself is self-aware, but the fans aren't, that's for sure.

One, it depends heavily on the regiment. Any penal legion or force that largely consists of conscripts is about par and then overshadowed in terms of technology. I wouldn't even rank the vaunted "Death Korps" much better than a bunch of resocialized Terran Marines, because they both do the same thing -- march in and die by the droves no matter how insane the command. The difference is the Death Korps does it out of a combined sense of shame and duty, whereas resocialized Terran Marines are brainwashed to lay down their lives fearlessly.

Two, maybe when it comes to raw numbers. Put equal numbers of both up against eachother though and my money would be on the Terran squadron, not the IG regiment.

Unless it's Gaunt's Ghosts.

If I wasn't used to that kind of behavior from spending time on /tg/ I think it would have made my head swim. Trying to discuss anything THERE without having a 40fucK turn up or claim it was somehow related to, ripping off, or done "better" in 40k was nigh impossible. It always comes to dick measuring too. Anyway, how do you guys feel about companion progression in NV vs. 4?

While 4's system felt way too simplified, I feel like you had to look things up in NV or you'd never make progress with a companion.

The way they handled likes/dislikes was neat in Fo4, if a little stupid.

I don't even know how it was done in 3,
don't hate me
>>
>>173689354
I miss the companion wheel and I dislike how companions act like sitcom characters in Fallout 4, but I feel their being reactive to events and such shit is a massive step in the right direction

it's like they saw how Cass and Arcade behaved with their commenting on stuff you see and went "let's do that full-hog" and whilst I dislike how PG13 it all feels in its execution, it's much better than the flavourless inventory extensions that I'm used to as companions across Bethesda releases
>>
>>173689574
Consider how they COULD have done companions.

Skyrim companions were a gross step down compared to Fallout 3 companions (with the exception of the Dunmer merc in Dragonborn and Serana from Dawnguard), so Fallout 4 could have been filled to the brim with a bunch of generic, personality-free blank slates instead. At the very least it seems like Bethesda tried to pick up one or two things from New Vegas, even if they chose to implement them in their own way.
>>
>>173689354
To my knowledge there was no companion relationship system in 3, beyond the companions simply refusing to work with you if you had the wrong karma.

I kinda like NV's method more than 4's, with 4 I'm just picking the speech options that will get me approval rather than even trying to play how I want.

I never asked for more money from quest givers because Piper and Valentine don't like it. Then I did because MacCready and Cait liked it.

Not because it was actually how my character would act but because I had to min-max the relationship points through every dialogue I did. I didn't even bother with Strong and X6-88 because their personalities would be too incompatible with how I wanted to play to even bother with.

In New Vegas it felt like you were really making progress with these people and helping them in some tangible way rather than them simply liking you enough to bear their soul to you. Would have been better I think if all the companions had something like MacCready or Cait, a special quest at the end of their affinity scale where you really earn their loyalty by helping them in a big way.
>>
>>173689354
in NV, I can make a mutant companion go from somewhat silly grandma to total crazed Super Mutant lunatic.
Severely depressed veteran into a somewhat functioning human being, who actually looks to the future, instead of being fatalistic. Introduction into a "secret society" of Enclave, or forced to slavery.

In Fallout 4, it feels a bit like
"Ok, we're friends now, right?"
-Yeah
"Lets have sex?"
-Yes/No
Imho the best character ark is that of Danse, who, trough unfortunate circumstances gets a revelation, and gets broader views of the world around him, but then it kinda falls flat, culminating on that
-yes/no

Where NV had the character story as main focus, in NV its if you get them to bed with you.

But thats just my personal opinion

Currently going through a Legion playthrough in NV, it seems difficult to get bad karma without just killing anyone who moves
>>
>>173691021
Especially since there are thigns that just give you good karma for no reason. Fiends attack you and you get good karma for defending yourself. Same goes for feral ghouls.

Well, at least karma has no impact on gameplay so it doesn't matter that the distribution is kinda fucked. How shitty would it be if good karma gave you unfair advantages in RNG in a game like Fallout 4 where you basically can't be a bad guy at all?

I follow those instructions..

So i load up clothes, then load up body, conform all, get rid of the clipping and then save entire shit in Outfit Studio and then check it and build in Bodyslide.
Problem is that the body i load into Outfit Studio is a default one and i use slightly different proportions due to ingame sliders ( that triangle skinny/muscle/fat ) so i often find that my butt is clipping or something around my waist or boobs etc.

Okay...been tinkering with stats n shit all night on these things, I like how they feel right now.

Adjusted the Scatter barrel to be a bit wider. Now its Ikaruga tier.

https://files.catbox.moe/h6sawx.webm

But anyway, /fog/ please, I want you to look at these stats, and refer to the webms in >>173683105 and give me suggestions for damage values. I haven't done the damage yet for most of these weapons. Except the Cannon. I more or less like where it is right now. Also you may have noticed that it has a firing rate of 0 on the standard and normal barrels. Thats normal. It will ONLY work with an Overclocked barrel. There will be cosmetic versions though so you can still use any barrel type you like the look of.

As for recipes for making the barrels, I think I'll take the vanilla recipe for the plasma gun stuff, and multiply it by four.

So based on the automatic barrel, the Gatling attachment would require the following:

Adhesive 24
Aluminum 32
Circuitry 20
Crystal 20
Fiber optics 40
Fiberglass 28
Gears 32
Glass 24
Copper 16
Oil 8
Screw 24
Spring 24

Bonus webm: Plasma beam slicing through layers of deathclaws!

https://files.catbox.moe/g0g3zz.webm

Anyway SUGGEST ME SOME DAMAGE VALUES PLEASE. I'll try making mods to increase the power so I don't have to make several Esps, but I'd love /fog/s advice on damage balance for each barrel type.

plus I can't just go in and shoot all the bad people. They're Talia's only "family". They're her new friends and the people she just started another life with. I don't want to storm in guns blazing and literally shoot around her and past her killing all these people she just started her new life with, then wave at her and leave. That would be traumatizing.

I believe these people are a bad influence on her, and she seems like a good person and I'm afraid that will be worn down by these people constantly having her ear.

My ideal solution would be to ask her if she wants to leave, and offer to take her to any settlement she wants to DCity or whatever, and just remove her from Covenant. I'm not sure she would say yes though, because of the above reasons.

Can't win them all though. So I go on being an outcast, hated but watching over them anyway.

-Help a drug dealer extort money from a shop owner(Order Up)
-Can let a settlement of people continue to kidnap and do psychological experiments on people in their anti-synth paranoia(Human Error)
-Can help a chem maker find resources to make more powerful chems(Hazardous Materials)
-Can take on a contract to kill three warehouses of people because the mayor doesn't like them(The Cleaner)
-The entire Diamond City Blues quest where you can hijack a chem deal, steal from a crime boss's chem plant, and then can frame him for the death of a wealthy mans son.
-There is even some minor stuff like being able to aid Bobby De Luca's jet addiction, and being able to lie to Virgil about the cure being in his lab, and convincing him to kill himself.

If slavery, contract killing, bribery, robbery, kidnapping, serial killing, and more aren't "evil" then nothing is.

>>
>>173678090
It done because if you add new ammo from DLC a into vanilla shopkeeprs inventory, then make a second DLC that adds new ammo, and make a new shopkeeper list to add that ammo into the vanilla game shop keeper inventories, then the second DLC's list will completely overwrite the first DLC's list, thus meaning you will only get the second DLC's list.

The only way to merge both of them would be to create a cross DLC comparability patch that would need to be its own separate esp/esm

Then you would have to make one for EVERY SINGLE POSSIBLE DLC combination.

Which would mean you would have like 30 of them.

This is why DLC doest interact with other DLC, and why DLC rarely overwrites anything from the vanilla game.

^This

We know that some BoS soldiers were sent east in airships to track down the remnants of The Master's Army.

We know those airships crashed, and that the survivors regrouped in Chicago.

We know they fought super mutants near Chicago.

While not specifically stated to be them, Caesar mentions that he captured BoS scribes further out east who didn't know the name of Maxson. And the only BoS group we know of further east then the Mojave is the MWBoS, suggesting they did make it all the way out to Colorado like they did in Tactics.

While dubiously canon, the offical Fallout 3 game guide says that some of the super mutants the MWBoS fought were absorbed into their ranks, suggesting thier willingness to recruit things like ghouls, and super mutants, is also true.

Uhh no, that is with scripting.

If you script a new NPC vendor list in DLC1, then add a new NPC vendor list in DLC2, the DLC2 list will always override the DLC1 one.

This is also the reason why many of the guns added in New Vegas's DLC weren't affected by perks added in other DLC that should have affected them, and why you need Jsawyers mod to get them to work with each other.
>>
>>173710334

Or bethesda could use any number of open source tools that create compatibility patches for these things and release that with the DLC as an optional file. Or use a scripting solution like other mod authors have done.

Really, the only reason this problem occurs in DLC is that the DLC authors are lazy and/or incompetent.

I'm saying that they should use a scripted solution to solve this dated issue

if someone can plop out a script injection that allows you to place any items into any preexisting level list without overwrites and it not mattering how many new items you add - it won't lead to overwrites - then the very same or a similar solution should be used at a base level by the devs

Your missing the point entirely.

When the monster is moving, its literally not actually walking, it doesn't move its feet forward, it doesn't actually progress any steps, it just moves them up and down in one spot, with a shake effect being added to make it seem like its moving.

The an actual mechanical standpoint in the game, its just moving in place, while the entire world moves below it on a giant film reel.

This has nothing to do with it being efficient, nor is it really equivalent in any real way.

I plan on using only their paint and keeping to the base game plus DLC upgrades and legendary effects, otherwise I risk making the armor too strong and killing what challenge there is left to a PA playthrough.

Thanks for the ideas, I won't use flat SPECIAL upgrades like cunning since they feel rather bland beside perhaps unyielding since it's rather cinematic when combined with martyr.

How about:

Punished (helmet, martyr)
Unbroken (torso, unyielding)
Blaster (arm, incendiary)
Toecutter (arm, duelist)
Pursuit Special (leg, sprinter)
Magnum Opus (leg, cavalier)

Swapping out flat stat bonuses and auto-stim (so martyr and unyielding can kick in) for some other minor buffs that add character.

Given that Fallout 4 already poached all the big mechanics based mods from Fallout 3 and NV, what are some other big mechanics based thing you think the next game could add?

1. First one is obviously working cars, or at least a motorcycle, and terrain/quests that would require it

2. An actual cybernetics system(not liek that bullshit we got in NV), but something more like CROSS where we get actual visual cybernetics, as well as some unique gameplay involving them like how in Automatron you needed a special robot mod to track the robots, and another special mod to open the doors in the Machanist's lair.

I'd argue the complete opposite of your point and would say that 6 Point Lookout sized maps would each contain far more detail than one "massive" map ever would and also that it would help lead toward a greater variety of terrain option as well as the potential for multiple cityscapes without the need for infinite amounts of null wasteland between them

>What always gets me is when 40k fans want to act like everything in their favorie setting is 100% original and being liberally ripped off by everyone else, when 40k itself was designed as a mish-mash of popular sci-fi stuff.
Yeah, that's always been my biggest problem with Warhammer fans. It wasn't bad back in the day when it was just a miniatures game; the old GenXers and old millenials were cool, they just stayed in the backrooms and basements of game shops painting their miniatures or building cool set pieces, and didn't shit on other fandoms. Once Warhammer really got into video games though, god did that fanbase get insufferable. All that "FER DA EMPRER!" this and "PURGE! HERESY!" that, and their perpetual victim complex that their derivative lore is constantly ripped off.
>>173688880
>Yeah but the more you say you hate it the more you're going to see this threads' resident tards post about it.
That's true, usually I keep my mouth shut. But also this particular /fog/ thread had a buttload more WH40K posts than generally, so I felt the need to talk about it. Reminder they arguably ruined /twg/, and they do also shit over /mbg/ on occassion, so /fog/ should be somewhat vigilant about the Warhammer fanbase, as we have our own home-grown cancer, we don't need to import any.

>>173665857
I think making a female pro-Legion Courier an ex NCR soldier or ranger is a bad idea. The only way I think that could work is if the NCR fucked the character over in the past, because they'd have to dislike the NCR before meeting the Legion to turn. I know you were going Stockholm Syndrome idea, but from what the Legion seems to do, that wouldn't happen unless the character already had beef with the NCR, and a plan or connections that could do something about it (really the only reason why a woman wouldn't just be sent to be breeding stock). Maybe an caravaneer or scout that has useful knowledge or connections to help the frumentarii would get a pass too.

> that 6 Point Lookout sized maps
The belief we would get 6 point Lookout side maps is hilariously naive.

>would each contain far more detail than one "massive" map ever would
They would obtain far less because the time needed to create so many different landscapes for one vanilla game would mean the developers would have far less time to add things for each specific landscape then they would with the singular landscape we have now.

5 years into one area = more diversity then having to spend 5 years on 6 different areas.

Especially when you factor in the cost of having to make so many unique texture sets, most of which couldn't be used between the differing areas due to their distance from each other.

> it would help lead toward a greater variety of terrain option

Increasing damage leads to using little to no bullets
the world has too many bullets and some modders fix it by removing excess loot

Also, another problem I have with those sorts of maps is that they strctch the credibility of the games events.

In a world like Fallout's, where even the NCR only has a "vehicle" of some sort, be it a tractor or w/e, for only one in every 200 people, the idea that the game would take place over literally hundreds upon hundreds of miles, and that all these really isolated from each other communities would all be interacting with each other, and be under the same threat, is basically impossible.

The only way to do it would be yet another LE SUPER MASSIVE ARMY! plot like Fallout 1, where the super mutant horde was growing so large that it threatened to overrun all of southern California, but that just ties the narrative into one predictable plot.

It also makes any attempt at sequels difficult because you have to create ever larger and more imposing forces to serve as the badguys to explain why they are a credible threat after everyone already beat the LAST super large army of w/e.

And you eventually run into the problem that New Vegas did where there was no one left for the NCR to logically fight, so they had to ass pull that a balding man, who read a few history books was able to, in less then 40 years time, conquer, reorganize, and train, 80+ different tribes of backwards spear chuckers into an army that somehow brought the 100+ year old, technologically advanced, NCR to its knees.

And then after beating them, that just makes another west coast game impossible since there is literally nothing left, and no one to pull another big threat from, if either the NCR or Legion wins, and House winning just leave it in eternal status quo.

Everything about designing games like that is a narrative dead end.

Its far better to focus on smaller groups fighting other smaller groups over one small area, so there can only always be some other region power to right.

Not to be "that guy" who's always comparing new games to the golden oldie, but NV really did it right I feel. The player got to decide whether or not the main story was important. It could be your driving motive for revenge, or it could just be a delivery that went wrong and it's time to move on.
>>
>>173720475
I think that is exactly what New Vegas did wrong, and is something even Saywer talked about.

New Vegas's plot had no real impact, it was nothing but petty revenge with an 11th hour "now help us win the war!" secondary plot.

Nothing mattered, the game gave you no real reason to care about going after Benny, or to help anyone in the war. And that is bad writing.

Even fucking Oblivion and skyrim put the threats of impending Daedric/Dragon invasion in front of you to give you a reason why you should care.

And even then, they basically had to design the map specifically to railroad you along the plot.

I would personally rather have a game with a plot that feels important, even if it means its slightly incongruous with the gameplay, then a plot that doesn't feel important at all, but isn't.

The former is just gameplay/story segregation that every game has, and I don't really care about.

The latter is just a dull and uninteresting plot, and that can ruin a game more then anything.

Being a Texan, I honestly think a Texas game would suck balls.

We don't have many cool/interesting landmarks/national landmarks outside the Alamo.

Our big cities like Houston are only big because they aren't very dense(for example, if you put all the worlds population in a city as dense as paris, it would take up the state of Texas, but if you put that same population in a city as dense as Houston, it would take up everything from Texas to Chicago, and most of the states around as well, because Houston is just that spread out.

And the biggest stereotype we have is
>LE COWBOYS!

I think this is bullshit, because the only valuables you have when you recover is a contract saying it's your duty to ensure the platinum chip gets to where it's supposed to. Your only backstory is that you are a courier, so there is a sense of duty, and curiosity to find answers on why that dandy fuckface almost killed you for that delivery. The motivation of the Courier to find Benny is just fine. It's also open enough so that you can just take your time and not focus on it (if you choose not to). NV does have issues with writing and story, but the motivation to find Benny isn't one of them (and people who assume the only motivation for that is petty revenge are fucking brainlets).
>And even then, they basically had to design the map specifically to railroad you along the plot.
I agree with this, I've argued that the Mojave has shit design elements, but that isn't the only reason; I think Obsidian is shit in general at world design. Because outside of Quarry Junction and the Cazador swarms around the Tribal camp, there is no gameplay or story reason for other regions of the game to have such shitty discrepency between empty non-threatening lands, and sudden dense packed shooting galleries; it's just poor map and threat design on Obsidian's part.

>>173721719
That make sense. The only thing I can really think of that might be interesting is if a burgeoning New Texas Republic was fighting off a pseudo-aztec New Aztlan type of faction. Especially if the Aztlan faction was different and was a ghoul-prominent faction where the ghoul priest and imperial castes subjugated human tribals (and had sacrifices and the like). That'd be interesting because most of the time in Fallout games Ghouls are always a bullied freak people, instead of the power elite of a faction.

>because the only valuables you have when you recover is a contract saying it's your duty to ensure the platinum chip gets to where it's supposed to
That's not really a logical motive.

In any reasonable situation, my only job would be to return to the mojave express, tell Nash some guys ambushed me and took it, and then let him hire ACTUAL MERCS to retrieve it.

Being a Courier, who has no real skills or equipment, and claiming that "duty" requires you to go it, is the same level of psychosis as those people who drive/fly across the world to kill their wives/girlfriends, because they discovered they cheated on them while they were away.

Its literally insane, and reek of people trying way too hard to make people think they are full of bravado when you normally wouldn't be/aren't.

> I think Obsidian is shit in general at world design.
That is because Obsidian is stuck in this early 90's world design mindset.

Which is why 99% of everything you learn about the world in New Vegas is verbally vomited onto you by NPCs, instead of just shit you learn by exploring/observing the world like in all other modern open world RPGs.

They can't get it out of their head that this isn't 1992 anymore, and graphics aren't so shit, and gameplay isn't so limited, that you HAVE to have NPCs verbally vomit everything onto you since the game is so graphically and technically poor that you can't JUST put it into the game world, and that, in newer games, that is no longer the case, and you just can.

It also explains the enemy encounter stuff since New Vegas is very obvious designed more like something like Baldur's Gate where, while it wasn't totally linear, you really did encounter maps in something of a specific order, and thus, everything was effectively level gated in that way
>>

>oh goodie, it's the billionth albino radscorpion I've ran into on this trip between Megaton and Tenpenny Tower

Not really.

The Courier is from the NCR, and has spent most of their time there.

And, as described in-game, things like raiders, super mutants, and giant mutant animals aren't much of a problem there.

Its a fairly safe place, where the roads are protected, and there is little to any real need for being some wasteland badass.

We know the player isn't a badass like that, and is use to that level of safety, by what kind of clothing he/she was wearing at the game start, which was basically just any kind of civi farm clothes.

>but I fucking love how creature and NPC spawns have nests/homes etc. in NV and absolutely loathe the random spawn encounters in 3/4
They have homes and nests in Fallout 3 and 4 also.

Deathclaw Sanctuary, Yao Guai tunnels, but in areas as small as these new games take place in, there likelihood you wouldn't see them all over the map is zero.

>In any reasonable situation, my only job would be to return to the mojave express, tell Nash some guys ambushed me and took it, and then let him hire ACTUAL MERCS to retrieve it.
You don't live in a post-apocalyptic wasteland where death is all over the place. You can't just assume the mindset of passing the buck up the chain is part of their culture. And that also makes a bunch of assumptions at the Courier's skillset, survival skills, or their general bravado. It's the same simplistic shit as the idea that the only motivation to find Benny is "petty" revenge.

The Courier doesn't deliver mail in suburbia, they have travelled all around the wasteland, I'm sure they've had close calls before. Waking up after getting shot in the head, being alive, and finding out some wierd robot that never does anything saved you, or that some dandy from the Strip robbed you, screams a whole lot of WHY? Why did this happen, and why am I still alive? For someone who lives and travels in a post-apocalyptic wasteland full of death, that isn't the same type of culture that would scream "go ask the authorities about it", especially when there are barely authorities.

nono, due to the Courier's efforts as a supply runner/mailman it flourished into said safe community, the fact the Courier was willing to walk such a wild route, seemingly alone, over-and-over, whilst presumably exploring en route, shows they have an adventurous side and their chasing after Benny fits in with that as does their tailing clues of Ulysses through DM > OWB up to LR
>>
>>173723779
>but I fucking love how creature and NPC spawns have nests/homes etc. in NV and absolutely loathe the random spawn encounters in 3/4
Except the balance and distribution in NV is garbage. These "creature nests" are set up like MMO mob-farming zones. FO3 had plenty of actual nests and concentrated creature zones, spread out more evenly, and the random encounters simply made the "empty" regions more dynamic. The Mojave wasteland is just shit as far as it's distribution of threats and hazards.
>>173724295
>The Courier is from the NCR, and has spent most of their time there.
Source that. Considering the Courier may have been as far as Montana, they are hardly some Brahmin-shit shoveling NCR peasant that hasn't been off the farm or away from cities, they've been around.
>>173724809
The Divide was never a "safe" community, it was always a shithole at the edge of civilization. Ulysses romanticed it because it was a settlement of scrappy survivalists eeking out a living in a less than ideal location. Obviously it wasn't the shithole it was after the Courier inadvertently detonated the warheads, but it was hardly some civilized idyllic village.

Hey /fog/, I feel like going back to New Vegas but since I haven't played it in a while I would appreciate some feedback on my build. Merk the merc, a dishonorably discharged NCR quartermaster, he is now a gun for hire. I'm not including Old World Blues cybernetics since I'm not sure I'll feel like going through that DLC again.

SPECIAL:
S5 (for carry weight, most Grunt weapons, +1 from implant and weapon handling for the light machinegun)
P5 (for VATS mainly)
E5 (I only want 5 implants and moderate HP)
C6 (he's a mercenary, caps talk and he needs good prices for the best gear)
I10 (I want the most skill points per level and quite honestly don't feel like rushing the clinic for the implant at level one ever again)
A8 (VATS, perks)
L1 (I was considering having this higher at first to make him a bit of a gambler but really, no Grunt guns depend on criticals as far as I remember and with tagged Barter I won't really need to gamble)

Traits:
Good Natured and Skilled (I just want those skill points)

Tags:
Guns (mercenary)
Barter (I prefer a character that talks caps and can cut a deal even with his enemies)
Repair (self-reliant, crafting ammo and explosives)

Perks:
Grunt (the cornerstone of the build)
Explosive related perks (the second source of damage)
Ammo and explosive-crafting perks

Gear:
Grunt guns, with pistols, rifles and grenades for early and mid-game and the light machinegun and grenade rifle for end-game. Desert Ranger armor.

Not everything, he does have an occupation and start to the story. You have points in time where you can idly bring up things about your character, but not with a great deal of consistency, but Shaun coming up often in 4 especially early game annoys people, especially those trying to do some type of roleplaying that requires a blank slate.

In a way Shaun is the equivalent of getting shot in the head and having the chip stolen.

Its central to the story for the first part of the game, but takes less importance after a certain point.

I mean not much of your background is really brought up in New Vegas it makes less problems when your job is to go long distances alone and you have no endurance or survival skills.

No there wasn't it could even had been his first time as a courier or he could have been doing it for a decade, but the game really didn't acknowledge previous occupations.

Easiest way to support a wide variety of characters is for the game not to mention much, it does bring up stats but largely ignores personal history beyond that of being a courier.

>>173731761
>Except small town rural America best holds that psuedo-50s aesthetic?
Nothing you couldn't get from the rural areas outside big citites.

Not to mention, after a nuclear war, most all small towns would have collapsed since they aren't self sufficient, don't have the skills/resources to survive on thier own, and are largely relaiant on America's vast transport system to get things shipped to them, a system which would collapse after the war.

Due to this collapse, the vast majority of people would have headed to the bigger cities(as we see and hear NPCs talk about in Fo3/NV/4) because they would have what little resources remained.

Anyone who didn't leave those small towns would have to become tribal hunter gatherers, like what happened to basically the entirety of the American Southwest, or they would have to become small survivalists communities like Far Harbor.

But these kind of communities and tribes would be very few and far between, and, realistically, there would be about 1 -2 at most in any given game map, and at opposite ends of the game map.

Like, a game set in an area you describe wouldn't even have a Diamond City type town in it, it would have like 2 Covenants... and that would be about it.

There would be fuck all to do, and full all of anyone to interact with.

The problem with the main story in FO4 compared to New Vegas is that it thrusts you right into some seriously urgent shit, and the dogpiles you with bullshit immediately after.

>FIND YOUR SON
>Hey Minuteman I saved you can you help me find my son
>No sorry WANNA BUILD SETTLEMENTS AND SHIT?

People might say the opening of New Vegas is bad because it makes you not care, but that's entirely up to the player, and the story rolls into the more serious shit later on, instead of dumping it on you in the tutorial like the last 4 Bethesda games.

Think back to Morrowind, it was a slow burn as well, and better for it.

>Yeah prophecy or whatever, go establish a cover identity, faggot

It gave the player the perfect excuse to get involved in some side shit and return to the main story whenever they wanted, depending on the character they were playing.

This is hilarious considering without rural areas shipping to the cities there'd be no New York or California.

Na

Morrowind was far worse off for it because its a game built around an urgent plot, that constantly tries to treat it as not being urgent just so you can have a hand-waved excuse to go fuck off.

Its literally contradicotry, and the poorness of it is why no one remembers Morrowind for its plot, they remember it for its exploration, and lore.

Fallout 4 and New Vegas do the same thing set up a motivation, son missing vs getting shot and being robbed.

Fallout 4 seems more urgent as a parent wouldn't wait any time in trying to find their son, but once you find him any sense of urgency goes away. The factions aren't really doing much serious conflict with each other until you get involved. Its just relegated to skirmishes until you tip the balance.

In new Vegas the trail to Benny is better than looking for Shaun, but I ignored it my first playthrough and feel like I missed out on something because it wasn't the same as if I had done it on my first run. Although there is more of a sense of something is about to go down, in my opinion.

You could look at finding Benny/Shaun as the end to an introduction. You've dealt with the initial motivator and now you need to start making the real decisions.

One third of Montana's economy is agriculture. Wheat, beef, barley, beans potatoes. It's second biggest source of income is manufacturing. Processing timber, making textiles out of agricultural products and of course, food processing.

You don't need breadbasket regions to be self-sufficient, though. Small towns won't have their infrastructures nuked, and even small towns have atleast industrial level local facilities (of course this depends on how economically blighted the town was when the bombs dropped, of course). But they would have a lot more stable infrastructure ready to go, the only hazard would be how severe the fallout, weather, and climatic effects would be after the bombs fell, as smaller towns would be less likely to have good vaults. But going farther west, where you have more culture of being self-sufficient and distrustful of government and big business, you'd also have more smaller vaults and shelters built independently.

Also small towns won't have to deal with endless fighting against cannibals, raiders, and thieves picking at the scraps of what was left of cities, because the massive populations in those centers mean more shitty survivors fighting over the radioactive ashes of what's left. Smaller towns will have a lot of death too, but the survivors would also have better maintained infrastructure and leftovers. The whole idea that anything between California and Chicago are spear-chucking tribals is bullshit and shitty writing anyway, coming from a simplistic and ignorant culture that uses the term "flyover" seriously.
>>

Its kinda funny how many people don't really understand just how different Fallout's worl was to our before the war

-America had annexed Canada, and invaded Mexico, giving them basically complete control of the North American continent.

-Western Europe was united under the European Commonwealth. Basically their version of the E.U. but more military based

-Western Europe, as well as large parts of the Middle East, were under control of the USSR, which never collapsed in Fallout's world.

-China had turned basically every country near it into a puppet state, giving them almost complete control over Asia

Really, only South America, Africa, and a little bit of the Middle East, wasn't untied under one of the bigger 4 powers.

While I doubt Wyoming would be a massive brahmin herding operation in the wasteland, I do think it's underrated in economic potential. Not only would geothermic research bunkers be present, but around Rock Springs would be a dark horse post-war industrial powerhouse (has some rare resources there, near potential last fossil fuel reserves, along a source of water that could handle subsistence farming). Cheyenne and the southeastern plains would be a radioactive dustbowl though, as would a lot of the Colorado Front Range. I think in the northwest Colorado mountains would have a few decently-developed towns though, as they would be remote enough to not get nuked, mainly the only downside would've been some rough years of famine before getting any agriculture restored (so probably get some Cannabal! The Musical going on).

I know that shit. I was the poster who originally suggested places like Minot, which would be fucked in a nuclear exchange, but that was somewhat the point. It has interesting geography, in the Souris river valley, and I think you could do something where life has to struggle in gullies and the river bottoms because the high plains above the bluffs are radioactive duststorms all the time; faction wise you could have Master's refugees using the radioactive area to hide and prosper in, or you could have BoS/Enclave lurking in whatever surviving military bases up there; and have fights with Canadian tribals, and weather wise, while the river valley is shelter, at times flooding occurs which bring in shit and makes it unsafe, so the living humans in the area have to eek out a living in the harsh conditions.

There is just so much you can do between the local geographies of regions that are disregarded as "flyover", and again I must state the the idea that there is nothing between California and Chicago other than spear-chucking tribals, is shit writing and boring as fuck.

How does it prove they do? Every major city is a shithole in the Fallout Universe. The Hub is fucking Barstow (arguably a small town/city), Shady Sands and Vault City are new GECK sites, DC region is garbage except for pre-war military sites controlled by the BoS, Los Angeles is a giant shithole of ruins that is only half decent in a couple locations because of the Followers. So assuming the Fallout game lore supports that is bullshit, and there is no reason why the problems that would plague metropolitan areas in a real-life nuclear exchange wouldn't happen in the Fallout universe is just asinine. Nobody is saying small towns in flyover country would become regional political powers, either. Just that there would be a lot of independent, isolated towns with various levels of pre-war development, depending on how well they could maintain pre-war infrastructure and culture.

I'm not disagreeing with your point, just adding to it. Saying "there are just tribals there" is meaningless.
>>
>>173739156
>Every major city is a shithole in the Fallout Universe.
Until they come under one the region powers at least

The NCR has tamed and made LA, San Fran, and San Diego pretty well off, and only behind Shady itself in terms of importance.

Tuscon, Phoenix, and Flagstaff were all brought under The Legion.

While Salt Lake City itself was entirely destroyed in the war, the Morons built New Canaan to the north, which became the only hub of civilization in Utah, and the surrounding areas, with lots of economic control.

The only "major" city in the Western U.S that we know is a shithole is Denver, but that is because the city was completely abandoned after the war, and feral dogs overran it.

Besides that, only Seattle and Portland remain unknown.

As for the Midwest, Chicago, Kansas City, St Louis, Indianapolis, and Milwaukee, were taken over by the MWBoS, who are directly stated to help the Midwest become not a shithole.

Minneapolis, much like Salt Lake City, was entirely leveled during the war(based on the Tactics map) leaving really only really Detroit and Cincinnati as unknowns.

And we haven't seen the south yet, so everything from Texas over to the Carolinas/Florida is equally unknown.

Really its only the upper east coast that is shown to be a shithole.

The point being made was that rural areas was empty, scroll up the thread. Then city cuck started claiming that places like Montana and Wyoming would not be able to support people. Objectively false.

No games have been set in those areas, so it is unknown what those areas contain.

The Boneyard is a shithole. D.C. is a ruin. Denver is described as being overrun by dogs. NY is described as a ruin full of mutants. Vegas had a vault right in the middle of it and a patrician that took the time to prepare for an apocalypse.

>Not canon. The BoS went somewhere in the mid-west and did something. They might still be there. That is the extent of your 'canon.'
Uhh no

We know
A. The BoS were sent east to fight super mutants
B. They flew their in airships
C. Those airships crashed
D. The people there regrouped in Chicago(where they fought super mutants)
E. Some of the Super Mutants they defeated were absorbed into their ranks
F. By the time of New Vegas, they had reached Colorado, and some of their scribes had been captured by Caesar's Legion.
D. Several smaller bits of lore such as Giantroaches(Radroaches) and Nuka Cherry, are also canon as well
>>

>>
>>173740879
>If they are so 'well off' why are they so desperate to expand.
Did you not pay attention to New Vegas?

The NCR's expansion is based on three things
1. They are a major power, and like any major power, they seek to expand their influence.

2. Population growth in the NCr has caused NCR scientists to predict that within a decades time, the NCR will be facing a food production problem, and thus will have food shortages. They are expanding to find new sources of food for their people to prevent this from becoming a problem in the future.

3. California is a desert, and the expanding population has increased thier need for water, which is part of the reason they want to take control of Lake Mead, and the Colorado River.

>Are you saying these places aren't shit holes?
We are explicitly told they are not, both in-game, and by word of god from people like Sawyer.

The Legion's lands are some of the safest in the post-war world, where food, water, and power, flow to those who need it.

>Off screen. How advanced is their 'civilization?'

High as fuck

I have realistic damage mods and .38 weapons never go over 30 damage

I don't know about you guys, but I play with 3x player damage and 2x enemy damage

.308 does around 100 damage

.44 does 60

.45 ACP does 40

9mm does 25

10mm does 30

12g >130

556/5mm does ~35

.38 does 20

Mostly good enough for me, humans die 3-2 shots most of the time

One issue is that over long distances, like past 100m, all weapons lose damage rapidly

Any range extender mods that fix this?

There is no why, and in this case that's okay

Yeah, you can argue the synth component. But know what you could say the synth components are?

Slave collars.

No, really. You have the Institute talking about recall codes and personality software. They're using these words. These words that make the synths just sound like any other robot. But know what all this shit really is?

MKUltra.

>non-food crop

You can actually eat the seed. The fibers of the plant are no good for consumption, unless you mill it and turn it into flour, but it is good for supplementing stock feed. Eat too much and it will give you the squirts, Ive heard. You're better off using regular hemp if you plan on farming for food. Grows bigger and is easier on the digestion. Only advantage over other crops is that it will grown in poor soil.

I was just arguing that they had at least one mechanical component that would eventually break down.

Seeing as it is related to their brain function I can't see it being good for their health.

they have that shit so when they enter the world as a fully mature adult, they don't have to spend years developing motor functions and learning basic skills, like speech.

My main problem with it, is there is nothing to suggest it would've survived the fallout, or it's mutated form would be funky as fuck. As far as I've seen, the only close-to-original crop there is is maize, and that's always been a hardy crop, and would've been kept in a vault as a staple crop. While it would be plausible that cannabis seeds would've been kept, it wouldn't have been as important. Also why smoke weed when you got crazy mutant atomic shit like jet and psycho?

Do synths have to eat? What maintains energy and operating health for the muscles and organs if they are essentially organic fleshbags?

Just started playing NV, and I tried pursuading Trudy to join me for the Ghost town gunfight quest, and I couldn't, so I came back with higher barter, and I still can't. Am I boned, or am I just doing something wrong?

depending on where you are, it's easy to grow. they call it weed for a reason, it grows almost everywhere, spits out seeds all year round in frost-free climates. if you live in the tropics, you don't even need to cultivate the shit, just flick some seeds out into the jungle and let them grow. but you're right, in that it would be a luxury people would not devote time to.

Marijuana isn't physically addictive unlike pretty much every other drug. Also, those other drugs run out. And against the in-game crafting system which I call bullshit on, manufacturing them probably requires a lot more than just a degree. As they're likely a lot of synthesized shit.

Nah dude, I know. I've been arguing in a thread on /tv/ about how cannibis is an "expensive vice" for a good hour and a half now. I'm aware on how hardy the crop is, but we're still talking about a post-apocalyptic wasteland. To me it's like cars, I can accept it might be around, but I'm just fine with the games not depicting it.

>>173759657
You need either Speech or Sneak to convince Trudy. Chet (the jewiest jew of the Mojave) is the one you need Barter for. Easy Pete you need Explosives skill to get him to dig up his dynamite.

Magic?

They aren't immune to radiation. They don't have an internal reactor and it would be easy to tell if they were able to photosynthesize if they put some skin cells under a microscope.

I think they are supposed to just be sterile and not show signs of aging.

They could still end up like Kellog though.

it was due to appear in the Environmental Protection Agency, but the location itself was cut and subsequently any unique shit therein, too

the EPA eventually morphed into the Big Mt. facility we see in New Vegas, only sans marijuana
