I saw people asking about when they are ready to raid bases in UFO defense. It depends on the alien race. Floaters and sectoids can definitely be done with laser rifles, though sectoids have psionics. If you don't have psi resistant soldiers, power armor + heavy canons is a good combo as you can easily kill sectoids, but your troops will have a hard time killing each other. Just watch out for the discs.

Snekman can be done with lasers, though plasma makes a world of difference against lids in the close combat of the bases.
Mutons I would reccomend plasma to cut through all that health.
I don't reccomend assault ethereal bases period, though obviously if you do, a full psi + plasma squad is recommended.
Techinically all of this can be accomplished regardless of armor, though it is very helpful. I would say floaters obviously easiest, than snakemen. But once you get plasma I would say that mutons are easier than snakemen. Sectoids are the second hardest imo because psi can also fuck stuff up.

Remember, the primary goal of base raids is resources and captives. If you don't have an alien commander, destroying base before you get one is not recommended as you don't want to get stuck waiting for a landed battleship which will also give you unpredictable enemies. And a tougher environment for captures in my opinion.
Remember that you can scout bases and then leave through the access shafts you arrived from with zero consequences.
This means you can also raid the base as many times as you need to get captures, so long as you don't incapacitate all aliens.

Also remember that pistols are useful

Is there ever a point in the game where Berserkers are actually dangerous in X2? Their hit chance is ass and being a melee only enemy that doesn't have the ambush and pack factor of Lids means they just get bullied by Overwatch and reaction shots.

First off they're nerfing stealth:
Officer abilities no longer work on civilians, so you can't just oscar mike command a vip to dash half the map
Conceal is moved up to be a MSGT perk, throw evac and conceal or hack door and conceal was deemed too strong
Evac flare can no longer be reduced down to 1 turn, it now has a minimum
Objectives will now have stationary pods on them, you can no longer run towards prisoners and safely open the door with no enemies around (apparently that was supposed to be how it worked all along but there was a bug with pod generation)

In exchange the infiltration time for small squads (4-5) is now way down, so it's easier to 200% infiltrate with more than one unit.
Pods on stealth missions are also made smaller and weaker to make it possible to engage them.

I don't think it will be enough. As it is now I can barely gear my A team and the B team gets its scraps, if I actually need to gear several full squads the game will just fall apart. NCE is the default but Lump is adamant about not adding commander's choice because he thinks it undermines the GTS but the GTS is nowhere near fast enough to promote all your rookies in a decent amount of time. That and the appeal of GTS to me was always not needing to take a rookie on a mission as opposed to choosing the class. If you're supposed to use more units early on that just means more promotions fucked by NCE. The roster size is also an issue early on but increasing it just makes the gear and promotion issues worse.

The risk/reward of stealth was only one aspect of why people did it, the other was that they didn't have other squads ready so it was either stealth it or ignore it. If you don't make it easier to get multiple squads off the ground it's still going to be easier to gear suicide missions because hard is always preferable to impossible.

quick question lads. How THE FUCK does Xcom 2 expect me to save the transmitter when after 2 rounds of an Andromedon firing at it it's down to half health and it took me 3 turns to reach it while dashing my whole squad like madmen in concealed mode?!

Once I reached it eery enemy on the map was there and even if I could have beaten them all (I could not) the transmitter was down in 4 turns.

It's funny, I actually suggested making the evac timer longer to prevent stealth gameplay.
Things might be unbalanced now, but this actually gives me hope that they will move away from stealth like I was hoping.

I've never finished xenonauts. And by never finished, I've never completed more than 3 missions in a single campaign before I put the game down. If "doing XCOM" better than XCOM means creating a bland lifeless clone that tries to be x-com but is completely inferior, than I suppose you are correct.

Personally I'd sell the stasis tanks and surgeries. They're used for a very expensive foundry project that reduces medbay vacations. Which is nice if you can afford it, but I doubt you'll be getting it soon.

Also I sell meld aggressively for an early game boost, but you're past the early game so I honestly don't know if you're better off just using it for its intended purpose or not.

Explosives are your friend. Never hesitate to blow an enemy the fuck up. Flashbangs are your friend. They have huge AOE, reduce enemy aim, stop them from using abilities, remove overwatch, remove suppression, when used on a psionic enemy it kills their zombie or frees your soldier from mind control. Always always look for high cover. Grenadiers and rangers are the strongest classes (ignoring psi). For rangers you want shotgun and concealment perks. Using the sword is too risky. Always be aware that anytime you move someone up, you are risking activating aliens. With this in mind, try to use your first move to move up as far as you intend to that turn, and then move people up in positions behind that person. This will reveal the least amount of fog of war. Unless absolutely necessary, do not dash, always blue move. And do not dash a unit on your last move or move them up really far. Specialists are important for objectives. Build them with combat abilities in general, not medic perks.

For your base, first building you want is Guerilla Ops then Advanced Warfare Center. Focus on picking up engineers and clearing out your base for the free resources.
Concealment is about getting to the best position to start a fight as fast as possible. Find good cover and/or height advantage, then open up on the enemy. Always keep a look out of heigh advantage in general as it gives your soldiers +20 aim.

The Dawn of war 3 beta swallowed my weekend so i haven't made much progress with the other Wraith armor for my warden gear mod, but i wanted to post a preview of something, which is pretty much nothing but i made an additional belt, this one goes diagonally across the torso.

If you're wondering this mod pretty much has only one design philosophy: "Belts and pouches"

And in case you're wondering about the soldier's pose, it's just a really crappy animation i made so i could look better at the armors, since all but one of the default animations cover the entire torso, i probably wont release it since it's crap.

It's ok, it does have a lot of Moba influences but obviously people saying that it's a moba are just exaggeration and/or shitposting.

The problems i have with the game right now are mostly balance issues, the early game elites are extremely overpowered, the lethality in DoW 3 is really high so some of these early game elites can wipe entire armies with one well place abilities, and of course you think "don't ever blob" but the problem is that the maps often force you to blob your troops.

As for the new game mode where you have to defend a power core, i don't really like it, at least not in 1v1s, the gimmick is that you have to destroy an energy shield, and then a turret and then the power core to win. But the problem is the turret, the turret has a lot of health and deals a lot of damage, and while i'm ok with an anti-rush mechanic, the problem is that games are usually won or lost by map control, once you have map control you are pretty much guaranteed to win unless you make a huge mistake.

So, you have map control, and your enemy has lost and is cowering in his base, now you have to wait until you can amass enough forces to take out the turret and win, it's pointless.

As for the art style, i hated it at first but having played it i don't really mind, it suits the Eldar and the Orks look great, Space Marines do look a bit meh because they don't look as gritty as they did in DoW , but you don't really have time to notice such things when you are actually playing the game.

tl;dr: It's fine, it's nothing amazing or anything but if you want a 40k RTS that's what this is. Either way there's an Open Beta in a couple of weeks so you can just try it by yourself then before buying.

Yeah the weather system is tedium extreme. All the ability to customize loadouts and armor and such turns the game into a paper doll dress up simulator when you get further in. I think the mod creator's desire to make highly tunable and varied gear selection leads me more in the opposite direction where I just pick the most optimal across-the-board setup and never bother with 75% of the items.

I guess I'll continue waiting for 1.0 as well. Maybe by that time some of the fat will have been trimmed down and I won't feel like I'm setting up an entire military in dorf fort every time I want to send a craft out on a mission.

This was the first time for me when I felt I really got a huge value out of mind controlling an enemy, obviously because they never got a turn with LoS on my soldiers so they kept targeting the Andromedon, it was a very lucky map too since I was able to make concealed dashes hugging the right side of the map towards the truck and I only really had to right 1 pod between the truck and the extraction zone. Having 2 high rank grenadiers really makes the game a breeze though, salvo is just broken. Every alien gets a grenade to the face.

Meh, it's better than nothing. That's pretty much it. Some mods buff it inadverdently by making the ballistics phase last longer which it actually protects quite well from. It also helps survived friendly fire from early explosives (nades and heavy canon shots). But despite it's draw backs, it's cheap and increases your survival chances so there is no reason not to use it.

I didn't mind the cam so much. The effects and emphasis he used it for the jokes was pretty good. I only half watch the stuff anyway, I more use it to listen too. Beags voice is like a weird, ayy made butter on my ears.

I hate NCE and if I think about changing anything it boils down to:
-Mobility is the most important stat for me and pretty much everybody needs it so I disable it
-Aim is the second and a lot of classes benefit from it greatly while good aim is mandatory for them so I disable it
-After that I need defence but at this point I might as well just disable NCE

I might try tweaking it for myself one day to make the important stats change less and others getting much bigger variance, but I would need to think about it for more than 5 minutes

Misses the point of trackers IMO. They're supposed to be a convenience item that minimizes "but I only snagged it with half a tile" activations so you don't have to strictly move in a line behind the point man. Making them unavailable to rookies is dumb. It's not a balance item it's something meant to lighten the tedious opening gameplay.
