The vast majority of the characters in this game are so shallow that they have no value to me outside of fanservice. That's how it works though. Extra Rin looks and acts almost exactly like F/SN Rin, she's actually a bit more approachable. Rani on the other hand was totally brand new and had to go up against one of the most popular characters in the franchise making her second debut as a heroine.

Extra Rin is leagues above Rani, that gap being based on an alternate Rin doesn't change that.

Despite being entirely different, Sakura is still oddly the same as well, yet kinda different, but also etc. All of the Alter Egos represent a trait that's already present within Sakura, both Sakura's. Sadistic side, Masochistic side, inability to look at oneself honestly at times, ability to spoil people, desire for attention from the one you like, etc.

Pretty much all the Egos and kind of the entire game is the exploration of a single character broken into pieces, and exaggerated at times. You can choose the ego you like, what trait of Sakura exaggerated you like per basis. BB is kind of the perfected model, a Sakura that wouldn't lose to anyone with arrogance and personality to match her dynamite body. She's very different, but her core is also oddly familiar.

We like to say that they're different, but its really no different from Rin and Extra. There's nothing actually wrong with Sakura's character innately in FSN, its just presented very badly due to the scenario with her being in bed all the time or treated as more of a device that needs to be saved or test Shirou's character. CCC took it as more of an active role where each piece is dissected, studied, and she's both a savior and devil at the same time. She was the saving person, instead of the one who was saved.

That entire fight is written to make him look like a threat, but when you stop and think about it, how the hell is LoD Vlad going to hurt Achilles in his chariot, or survive getting nuked by Kundala? Chiron and Atalanta, fine, but Jeanne has Luminosite Eternelle to block anything he can do, and she's got holy sacraments that are extra effective on him.

He's strong, no doubt about it, but the real danger in that fight was the fact that he was really hard to kill and that his win condition was getting to the Grail, not that he would probably slaughter all the Servants he fought.

FGO is the sum of ideas that Nasu couldn't do yet. Unlike Extella which was literally "yo, write us this story for us" and Nasu put almost zero effort and pulled shit from his ass. FGO followed drafts and plotlines he wanted to do and couldn't do.
The rpg Apoc system, but the plotline of the Beasts which was what Proto was supposed to be in the first place but he drop it for FSN. CCC brought up the existence of Beasts again, so this led to his decision to make FGO about that discarded plotline, so Solomon as central figure appeared for it.

I'm sure Shielder being the heroine answered to the same "let's have this old discarded draft finally appearing" enthusiasm.

He has blatantly just redone Fate route twice now. He wasn't even working for Typemoon the first time.

At worst I expect it to either have a break between cours or have production start falling apart later on. With AoT it also probably has to do with how terrible WIT is with scheduling, they couldn't even handle the first season and they have too many shows planned throughout the year. They're kind of at the extreme even with how bad things are elsewhere.
