Give me a reason to not summon a phantom for Spear of the Church boss fight. The Painting Guardian will keep on coming even if you kill him. He keeps healing the faggot of a summoned guy. I swear that painting guardian is more of a threat than anyone that gets summoned.

Also why are blues so dumb in general. They get parried consistently, they do dumb shit like webm related. Boss fight is like 3-4 steps away but rather than taking me there, they'd fight against invader and lose.

Nevermind killed them. Using Cathedral GS was a mistake. I can barely swing it two times. Switched to heavy mace and everything died quickly. It was just really annoying when everyone just simply rolled out of my attacks and I would only hit painting guardian for 600 damage and be out of stamina.

I've been with a +6 Refined Claymore at SL60 through the whole game so far.
35 Dex/ 40 STR, am I underleveled for TRC?

You're a little underleveled for TRC but not that much so feel free to try it if you can beat Friede.

If you want to go greatswords Claymore is a good option, other good choices are the Wolf Knight or Hollowslayer Greatsword or the Black Knight Sword, all of which should be available to you now.

I went through the DLC mostly with Refined Claymore +9 at 40/40 quality. If you can dodge the attacks and reinforce your weapon some more(enemies are practically bleeding chunks), you should be good to go.

Solo you know that the boss will only focus on you. In co-op this is not the case and things get a bit more chaotic when you party is trying to gank one. Attacks are potentially harder to read.

Oh fuck, I finally did it, on third try. Solo'd Midir on third try. Just said. Seriously though anyone who thinks this was a good boss is just masochist. I'd take Sinh over Midir anyday.

Though honestly killing him was really anti-climatic. I expected to kill him normally through sheer force of will, gittinggud and r1 to face. That faggot juts fell down, took a Charged R2 to face, then got criticalled.

I noticed great shields help in this fight, I'm not sure about weapon though. Maybe Dragonslayer Greataxe or BKGA. Denial helps too.

I wish there was a function that let's start you start a New Game but lets you choose your starting equipment yourself, based on what you have already found on previous characters.

Mainly because cosplay builds are a pain in the ass when the right weapon can only be found towards the end of the game.

Something like this would be easy, high health, a good solid shield for fire and dark.

Axe is fast but still packs a whollop, remember to only swing twice when you get the chance, greed will ruin you on Midir.

Ajust level and armour to taste, go with high physical on the armour and if you get more levels keep pumping strength.

Midir is about endurance. It's ten or fifteen minutes of dodging attack sequences, and you probably won't die unless you run out of estus, have low health, or are negligent about healing. There's no real tension until you're down to one or two flasks or you have him on low health. Very quickly there's not much evolving strategy, either. It can still be fun to improve and get to the point where you dodge almost everything, but it's really a pretty mediocre fight comparatively.

I finished the DLC yesterday after forcing myself to go back and kill Midir(i had already killed Gael day 1) and i felt like the DLC didn't do much for me and now after sleeping on it i think i know what the problem was.

It was too easy, i don't think i'm good at these games, Elfride took me a million tries to kill, Nameless always gives me trouble no matter when i fight him, and when Dark Souls 3 came out it took me a lot of tries to kill Pontiff.

But this time, i killed the demons and gael first try, when i killed Gael i was so sure that there would be a second lifebar but then he just died and that was it, the demons were pathetically easy i honestly do not know how anyone can have trouble with them, not only are all their attacks incredibly obvious but they stagger incredibly easy. With Gael i think i got half lucky, but i killed him first try and i feel like i didn't even get to enjoy the fight because it was so hectic that it was over before i even knew it, i don't think i learned his attacks or patterns at all, i just dodged everything on reaction and before i knew it he was dead.

As for the levels themselves, the heap is only long the first time, on a second run through even getting all the items and talking with patches it took me maybe like 20 minutes tops to get through it.

And the Ringed city itself, maybe it was just me, but i expected a CITY not a SWAMP and only the spear ringed knights were challenging and difficult, the fact that you can oneshot the fatsos makes them irrelevant, i enjoyed fighting them until i got to the ringed city and realized by accident that you can one hit kill them.

I don't think the DLC is bad, but for the last content the series will get is pretty underwhelming. I think Gael and Elfriede should've switched places as last boss, alternatively, cut the demons and make Gael or Midir better. At least the weapons and gear are good, but the PvE is just meh.

GitGud. No really, just hit him in head once or twice then keep back. Also always stick in front of him and never go below him. If you somehow end up below him, try to go for tail, and wait for him to swipe and dodge that so you're again in front of him.
Also in general, use Gold Pine resin, though if you have blessed weapon use that instead, I did more damage to him on Heavy Mace with Blessed Weapon than Gold Resin. Though only by 8 extra points.

I started a new character to do the DLC, i just left it until the end and did it with the machete does guys from the undead settlement drop, until i got the twin GS which is what i used to kill Gael. Went back to the machete for Midir.

Then i went on my NG+++ character and did it all over again, this time with the murakumo or whatever Alva's weapon is called, the only change was that Midir took way longer.

The dragon crest shield is excellent for blocking the fire if you get caught in a bad position. Medium shields definitely don't hurt.

I wouldn't try using one to block his physical attacks though.
