As a new player I'm really considering starting it all over again. I have like half of the roster at level 5+ and some 150+ games played. What really sucks is that I'll be missing out on some account rewards like Valla and a couple mounts if I do make a new account. But missing out on over 150 loot boxes that would only take like a week or two of playing to get really sucks ass. Chances are starting over and reaching the same point I'd be left with much more unlocks than I currently have.

I really hope they provide an option to reset all hero levels to 1.

The new system is telling you "Play our game, we'll give you free things." and to anyone interesting in paying a dime, they're saying "Better buy this new hero/new skin in the first few weeks before they can't be bought with gems anymore, or who knows HOW long it'll be before you can obtain them with money again!".

It's pretty smart. The system is set up to pressure people already inclined to spend money moreso than they already are, and people who do not want to spend a single dime get shit for free, but ONLY if they play consistently. They win either way, because they know they need many many more players.

How come HotS devs pump out so much content in such a fast way? We get like one or two new heroes each month, while Overwatch barely gets a new map and hero every 6 months.

They're not worth the 10k gold. 10k gold is like 3 rerolls for 7 lootboxes. You'll get a legendary in one of those, which is 400 shards, which will give you enough to buy the master skin 3 times over (3 tints).

Skins will only be purchesable with real money when they are in "featured" tab, meaning first few weeks for new stuff and whatever they decide to put in there on rotation. >I actually don't know why people like these changes at all. You're being manipulated. Barring the new load out menu, Hots 2.0 is a concentrated effort using the same psychological principles inherent to gambling to manipulate you into spending more money than you originally intend.
That's why every skin tint is separate, there's a lot of new low effort/recycled filler, the conversion of duplicates will be low, and you cant buy anything other than heroes directly anymore. They need to have that in place so that you keep chasing boxes.
We shouldn't be lauding this new system. The old system whether you agreed with the pricing or not was at least strait forward and honest.

I get that they're turning individual skin colors into their own skins with the new system, and that it's now all boxes, but I'm not understanding why people are considering making new accounts.
If I:
Play heros that are free/I buy till level 5, then barely play hero past 7 since I play with like one friend or not at all, and just want(ed) the second skin color/mount color for that character.
i've got maybe a third of the cast to 5, and bought a few 10k heroes with daily gold (pretty much all warriors) and that's about it. Am i ok in the situation of whatever you guys are worrying about?

You are in much better situation than most veteran players because you'll still have a ton of sub10 levels to get after new system drops. This'll give you many chests including hero specific epic chests.

HotS isn't super dead but it's never been thriving. The 2.0 title combined with a new cosmetic / progression system is designed to generate enough interest to draw in new players and people that tried the game once but didn't quite get roped in.

As for current players it's exciting to be able to potentially get things for free or very cheap which is going to lull stupid people into spending exorbitant amounts of money. Those people will be happily throwing their shekels at blizzard and the rest of us will get more than we would have gotten before.

I will say that this Blizzard team actually seems to care about the game and the players unlike some (all?) of their other stuff. I'll remain optimistic for now.
