If you're going the Fetid Baghnahks route then get melee speed modifiers/pumpkin pie/ale. Sure tipsy reduces defense but the melee speed makes all the difference.

The saw-edged sword is a good touch. How are you going to cut an arm off if you can't saw through bone? Really makes sense.

Having the sails folded like that is actually a pretty good idea since it eliminates the usual "sails looking like shit" problem, I haven't seen that anywhere. You could "tie" them in a bundle with a few ropes.

I'm not quite sold on the double fences as masts concept, why not make a wall mast if you want it to be thick, and put platforms on it as a single-width ladder?

It's easier to build at the sort of level where you're just above lava, and going through most of the houses when you get to them.
If you've got sensible armour you often don't even need a very long runway.

Speaking of going into hardmode:

Usually I "move" it by digging out one or both sides of higher ash mounds that contain lava, so the lava flows down the sides to a lower level. That way I collect the ash blocks for my hellbridge; seems more appropriate to use ash blocks down there.

Funny enough, Thorium currently has problems with no mobs in it's new biome. Don't know about the rest, but Calamity is pretty fun though it's items are poorly balanced, bosses are hard and require big arenas, though they are pretty unfair to melee characters.

That could look ok, but you have to be careful not to fuck up the height of the wall and make it look too massive, since your buildings are rather small and delicate-looking.

I would say way too tall, check out Avila or Aigues-Mortes on GIS, you'll see that the tallest buildings will be significantly taller than the wall, most buildings will be a little shorter or taller, and only a few will be a lot shorter.

I think I've settled on this. Now about the towers, is there any way that'd look nice, any good examples? I figure I could use actuated stone slab blocks for them, as this castle is really just going to be more of a background for this. Planning on making the drawbridge area solid
