So /gsg/ i got a question. I've been playing Victoria 2, trying to learn it and figure out how it works. Something i notice is that, bizarrely enough, the Balkans rarely actually Balkanize (might be my personal experience after 6 games IDK). Pic related is my attempt at forcing said empire breakups. It cost me practically everything i had and i hit BB twice and had to give up on all of my colonies to reduce infamy down low enough to keep going. I've read that this a base game problem so im looking into mods. What mod is better for a more dynamic world? HPM or PDM?

I think there's a -1000 modifier for adding provinces as AI if the emperor is a player.

Merchants are used to collect or steer trade.
If you put merchants in inland trade nodes they also add caravan power.

Trade nodes can go a number of ways.
For example Ragusa can go to Wien, Venice and Genoa.
If no one steers trade with a merchant there they'll get pulled towards the trade capitals of the ones who have trade power there.
If only 1 steer trades there, everything goes to the node that one steers the trade to.
A merchant that steers trade adds trade value to the steered trade depending on your trade steering modifier.

I'm playing Japan in EU4, I've annexed maybe a third of the country, and pretty much all of the rest has declared a "war of indepence" that I can't possibly win because of a combination of crippling debt, and much lower manpower and force limit than the revolting vassals.

So I decide to just give in to their demands and give them independence. Except they don't want independence. It literally says "war for independence", but it gives -1000 to their willingness to accept peace if I add it to the deal.

if you just want to do some basic combat load a scenario like Desert Fox (no naval) or Southern Conquests (has naval). That will get you used to hoi3 combat and you dont have to fuck with the OOB at all.

for more advanced concepts i suggest watching youtube of players doing germany/italy/etc, watch them for a few hours and then play yourself. If all you do is watch youtube you'll never get better.

You'll especially want to know how to setup the OOB after doing the scenarios so watch one of the OOB tutorials, there's a couple good ones.

So I just downloaded conclave and I want to know how can I weaken the council power? It only seems like the only thing you can do is delay the rise of their power. This is a concern for me because I'm playing as a duke who just took over a prince-bishopric county and I want to set it to the proper holding type, but can't because I'd need to revoke the title of the guy who holds the castle holding of the province, and I can't do that because the council won't let me.

Have conclave. Took over bishopric. Want to turn it into the right holding type and revoke the guy in the county's castle but council wont let me so I want to know how to weaken council.

You accomplish that by playing the game, conclave is a garbage abstraction of competing noble interests but fuck if they aren't trying to add content to make the game more interesting than click war to win
