Castle is a good defender when you're playing with a coördinated team and you know how to utilize the map so you can force the enemy team through choke points or waste their resources.

If stat-pad classes are what you are looking for then Glaz is a good pick. For defense I wouldn't really know since there aren't any operators that grant consistent easy kills for new players. Try Rook with an ACOG on his MP5, your team won't ever hate you for it.

Stop using glaz for the time being and try to use a more active attacker so you can train your aim and reflexes. Camping a spot from a mile away outside a map won't teach you much about playing.
Sledge is a good op, his hammer is the most silent breaching tool available so he is good for taking the long way around and picking enemies from unexpected angles. Also learn to use your drone whenever you are entering rooms.

When using castle, leave the windows alone unless there is a mute in the team and you are sure he is muting the windows you are reinforcing, otherwise your barricades just become death traps and give the enemy Fuze a free shot, not to mention the enemy glaz who can poke a small hole in them and camp it with his thermal. Even then, mute jammers are better used on reinforced walls rather than windows IMO. Also don't reinforce all the doors in the objective room, it's useless and pisses your team off.
Expand your barricades to the other rooms, use them to funnel enemies into an easily controlled path or to make them waste their breaching charges away from the objective.

Rook and Doc are straightforward. Easy to use, hard to fuck up. 3 armor, low recoil smg with ACOG. Everything about these two is forgiving.

If you're an ADHD spastic esports wannabe Jager is simple to play and has the best defender primary in the game (if you include secondaries, it is out DPS'd by the SMG11 and Bering 9)

I'd say those three are a good place to start.

Keep in mind, SAS recruit (3 speed) with M590 primary, SMG11 secondary, barbed wire, and nitro will easily compete with most other defenders. Just not utility wise.

New defense op idea:

2s/2a or 1s/3a

Gadget is a placeable motion sensor that beeps loudly when it detects an enemy, 2 sensors available
It is placeable like valk's cameras, but bigger and more obvious to see.
The attacker either goes out of the room for fear of being pushed or stays and destroys the sensor which would be relatively easy to spot.
Sensors keep beeping as long as someone is in the room (or in it's area of effect) and it's not destroyed.

Useful for point defenders to scare away attackers or to get an idea where an attack may be coming from.
Can be useful for roamers too, strategic placement could give valuable information for roaming effectively, but the operator who carries the sensor is not a 3speed so roaming with him could be kind of risky.

I was thinking of it as something to scare people off.
In my mind it beeps a lot louder than a broken barricade, serving both as a warning for the defenders and as a distraction for the attacker because all the normal noise cues would be drowned under the beeping.

So, from the point of view of the attacker, you either stay in the room, lose time finding the sensor and then camp for a push that may never come (either from a roamer or a point defender) or you simply get the fuck out of there and take another route.
Or you can find the sensor, destroy it and then take another route anyway, baiting the defenders into thinking you are still there, but it makes you vulnerable while you look for the sensor.
Another option would be to stay there and let the sensor beep, simultaneously confirming your presence and incapacitating your hearing.

Form the point of view of the defenders, a long beeping means the attacker is finding the sensor to destroy it. You can use this information to push him or simply wait for him to come.
A short beeping means the attacker entered the room, realised there is a sensor and fled immediately. Still valuable info for the defenders.

I imagined it more as a tool for public matches where people don't really talk much on the mic or give valuable information. It's a fool-proof tool for point defenders.
