They will almost certainly patch the bugs and the animation issues. I think it's clear that the project was too ambitious for the new team and they focused on too many things. In retrospect they should have probably made the game more linear and focused on the quality of the missions and planets instead of the quantity and size. The problem is that the development was started at a time when huge open worlds with a lot to do were "the cool thing" but things have changed in the last couple of years.

It's still a good game that I will enjoy a lot (Mass Effect is my personal favorite video game series ever). Of course I will give it a shot.

I've only found a few nit picky things, like the annoyance that is "traveling" between planets on the galaxy map. Even then, all those are are annoyances that can easily be ignored or tweaked later in a patch by the devs. There's nothing "horribad" like some of the reviewers were making it out to be. The only real animation issues I've seen are weird lazy eye type of things and they're more funny than anything. It's fucking fun so far and this really feels like people over reacted just to jump on the bandwagon of trashing it.

Looking to get this game after having been blown away by Dragon Age: Inquisition. I played Mass Effect 2 and really enjoyed it, but I'm coming more from the Dragon Age side of things and not Mass Effect (only played portions of ME1 and ME3).

I really like how Inquisition did away with the linearity of the old Dragon Age games and, despite its size, presented a living, breathing world with fun combat to boot. Is ME:A a comparable game? For people who have played both, are there any thoughts you have?

The game is full of problems, but there is really nothing SJW about it. If anything, it is a game about how a bunch of ubermensch go colonize space without any poor scum.

The faggot romances are crippled and only the straight ones have substantial content and custscenes. Best characters are all exclusively straight.

I've played both. put 100 hours in inquisition doing all but the worst side quests. (sorry varric not collecting 50 copies of your book hidden around the castle)

25 hours into Andromeda so far.
my overall verdict is that Andromeda has much better combat but Inquisition has better everything else. which is weird as I've always preferred mass effect to dragon age by quite a bit...but then again Andromeda is not in the same league as the other ME games.

it was like 'your dad died, sorry' without emotion, and then the player character is like 'ok whatever but why am i in this node?' it was just this really weird, transparent story device. there wasn't any investment in the characters, so killing someone off won't mean anything to the person playing the game, but to not even communicate that it matters through other characters' reaction is just weird. it just seemed like something had to happen to turn the player into someone important and that was the best way the writers could come up with.

and the changing point of view during that sequence was weird- you're in ryder, you black out, and it gives you glimpses as you fade in and out of consciousness. so the player is in ryder's head, and we miss things that ryder misses while he's hurt. but then suddenly we're shown the aliens back on the planet and how they interact with the weather control thing?

the role playing is a little weird in this game i've noticed too. i like having the different dialogue options in a lot of places, but it makes the scripted stuff for the player character seem really out of place. like when i have control over him, the player character is giving all these logical, professional answers to everything, but then in cutscenes he's acting like some over the top, sarcastic, brazen kid?

I may be biased a little as a Mass Effect fan since the first one in 2007, but let me just say this:
DON'T LISTEN TO REVIEWERS

I'm not saying the game is the greatest Mass Effect title (that's ME2, duh) but if you're a legit fan since the first, the game is worth a try.
I have a theory that a lot of this negative feedback is coming from people who got into ME in the 2nd or 3rd game, which means that they didn't initially love Mass Effect for its exploration (which was ME1's strong suit). You'll find that if you compare Andromeda to ME1, you'll be much more forgiving. You wouldn't compare Star Wars: The Force Awakens to all 3 originals would you?

So far I am enjoying the game a lot. Sure it's not going to be as good as the Shepard Trilogy, but it's hard to match what I think is the greatest piece of sci-fi ever made.

My Ryder from the trial and the new test Ryder I just made don't. They actually animate 'fine' with a few weird hiccups (odd lip freezing at a distance, but it fixes up almost immediately).

But that's a problem that most, if not all of the human/Asari characters run into. It seems as though the Default Sara is the only one that keeps smiling awkwardly.

See I did this and I can't get Origin to let me play it, it has been reinstalled, repaired, updated origin and my pic has been reset but the play button is greyed out.
I've used vpns before, I actually used one to unlock ME3 early way back when and had no problems.

I'm new to the ME universe, never played a ME game before but I know what's it about. I'm loving the game so far. I spent a lot of time reading all the information in the Codex, mostly to learn about history and races. It's really fascinating.

As for now, I'm not many hours into the game, but I'm totally happy I got it. It's the first time I find myself enjoying an RPG this much since I like the genre, but I never managed to finish an open world one.

Being a Star Trek fan, this game reminds me a lot of ST: Enterprise (which I loved), probably the most action-packed of all the series.

One little thing I noticed and can't really understand is: why all the alien species I encountered so far have hands with 3 fingers? It's kind of strange that all those species have this thing in common and the humans are the only ones with 5 fingers. :)

Playing the game. From the latest conversation I had with her I think I figured out how old Vetra and Sid are supposed to be:

Vetra says she left Palaven with her dad shortly before she would have gone to boot camp. Codex says that turians go to boot camp on their 15th birthday. She says Sid was "barely a year old" at the time. So when Sid was 1, Vetra was about 14. She goes on to say that they spent two years in a mining colony in the Minos Wasteland before her dad left. She says she was "barely more than a child myself" when her dad left. At this time she would be 16 roughly.

They're not CDP. Every single Witcher game had an enhanced edition patch for free one year after release. That costs money. I strongly doubt that EA isn't going to just cut their losses and focus on paid DLC or even drop support entirely and focus on the next game.

I'm genuinely having fun in this game. Sure, it's janky as fuck, but it reminds me of ME1 in a lot of ways, has that feeling of mystery. And ME1 was pretty janky itself, I remember everyone hating the MAKO even though I loved it.

It's got a lot of issues, but it feels like a lot of love went into it too. I'd give it a 7.5/10 whereas I'd give ME1 an 8/10, even though subjectively it's one of my top 5 favorite games.

Are any of the biotic MP characters worth it to level for Gold runs?
