Reposted for the new thread. Probably the "best" version of Epiphany there is at the moment, though there is always room for improvement. I tried to make it less vague, as some of the terminology got in the way of the horror going off of the original version's reception.

It's technical aspects are impressive, in that the kid does knows Clickteam, but the animatronic designs are based off of FNAF instead of going in their own direction. FNAF, which has lower quality character design after the first game. It's inescapably a fangame because of this.

It's going to be even further from the series than TSE was but might also hint at what Scott does in the future, since he took some bits for SL like William Afton. It might also try to put in some of SL's stuff, which would be very weird.
I don't expect a trailer/teaser before it's release, as to avoid stepping on the books' toes. The first we see of the next game would probably be in the guidebook, which makes me realize that franchising it for kids was a mistake.

Well it would be nice if Poke himself would say something considering A) how many fans he has here still waiting, and B) the fact that his initial transparency and willingness to talk directly with his readers was what helped endear him to so many early on.
Ever since around the time Weaver left for /trash/ Poke has pretty much clamped down on any communication outside of just posting his story. That, combined with his updates happening less and less frequently makes me doubt that it's just life stuff so much as he just doesn't care anymore. Which honestly would be fine. He's been doing this for over a year now and has written more than pretty much everyone else here. I don't think anyone would hold it against him if he came out and said he was tired and his spark had gone out. Aside form Roommates all I can think of is New Management and that thing Snax wrote, both of which updated much slower petered out a lot faster than Roommates ever did. Poke is an outlier in terms of skill and viewership, and while we may end up getting more slice of life waifu fics sometime down the line, there's no way in hell they'll ever be as consistently well written or as restrained and focused as his story was.

He's an outlier in skill because Roommates is a collaborative effort by multiple good writers that each put the story through the wringer to ensure quality rather than quickly type something up, proofread it for errors, and post it. Meanwhile, he's an outlier in viewership because Roommates chapters get posted in other places, like Poke's tumblr, the fnaf subreddit sometimes, other boards, etc., on top of it being able to piggyback off of Weaver's "fame". There are a lot of factors at work here to make Roommates what it is, and they could be recreated with enough autism. It's just that no one really gives enough of a shit to do it.

Exactly. The raw potential for this place at its peak is staggering, but the fact is that this whole thread is about people creating for the sake of entertainment, and the last thing anyone wants is to turn their hobby into a job. Poke excels because he's got a higher tolerance for the crunch than most other OCfags here, and as a result can put out more work at a higher quality. I've got no doubt that people like RootCellar or Protom could match him if they really pushed for it, but their approach to such things is far more casual, and at the end of the day, I'm just grateful that they can find it within them to make anything at all.

Oh, this post reminds me. A while before SL's release, I had an idea for a story doubling as an adaptation that had William Afton's apparition appearing as a kind of "dark passenger" to a mentally unstable Mike, giving advice and providing insight. It would've been like TSE in that the night guard goes berserk and turns the story into a slasher movie, but I would've kept it ambiguous as to whether or not Mike was hallucinating Will, being possessed by him, or something else entirely. He would've been William's son, and inherited some of the expected mental issues.

I regret it because those ideas were stupid and jinxed the series.

The FNAF 3 setting would have taken away a lot of the story beats I had in mind, though it's not a bad idea. Just one that isn't quite the same as the Milliam idea.

Your idea reminds me of Hannibal, where the central focus was between Hannibal and William's battle-of-wits, as Hannibal seeks to manipulate him into his will. That could make for a great story, though it'd be a good deal above my level of puddling mediocrity .

I have the same issue with GMF when it comes to finding her characters attractive. The first game was as dense as it is already, in regard to enemy AI. Adding Puppet and BB would throw off the flow, and seeing as how he had already gotten door stuck from a dream with Bonnie, Scott might've ditched em because they would be redundant and he couldn't think of a purpose for them.

I think the FNAF 1 stuff in FNAF 2- the pizzeria cutscenes on stage from Freddy's perspective- were ideas germinated from FNAF 1. It looks like Scott wants the Puppet to be around in FNAF 1's era, and so he did it retroactively in the sequel. Just having him hide away, maybe in the kitchen or parts room. The "perspective from Freddy" bit might have been as a "bad ending" or a resolution to Phone Guy's story, where Mike or Phone end up with their mind inside of Freddy after being stuffed inside the suit. You can attribute the position of this in reality to having "It's me" and other FNAF 1 specific elements, making it less like a dream, and more of a "flash forward". FNAF 2 also has Mike's name attached to a skull in the enemy folder, so that could also be remnants of when the game was a sequel instead of a prequel.

At any rate, I'm curious to know what his design in mind for the Puppet and BB were. Or maybe instead of BB it would've been the suit Purple killed in, who knows. But they'd undoubtedly all be scarier if they had the FNAF 1 aesthetic, instead of the cleaned up, kid friendly look of the Toys.

If that caused anyone to leave, it should have been from those groups since they were the source of the drama. The question after assessing that is what do you do about them? In real life this would be the crazy homeless guy on the street corner wearing a sign that says "I EAT NIGGERS", trying to preach to people about how energy drinks are linked to Satan.
Just like in meatspace, the solution is to keep walking. Trying to debate the guy will just make a scene and calling the cops will do nothing as what he's done is technically not illegal. Trying to debate the guy will either end in either you looking crazy too, or demonstrating a point everybody else already knew while wasting a whole bunch of time.

But if that's not enough, ask what can be done? It's not leejun shit to state that the site itself was designed around unfiltered and unmoderated discourse. While there are anons in the past I wish we could have banned, in the end there is no rule against being mean or irrational. That makes self-policing in here mandatory, but how can something like the tone of a post be enforced? Unlike the discord, we don't have the luxury of breaking off into smaller hand-picked groups whenever everyone else gets sick of some guy being an asshole. But to ask my own questions: why do they put more stock in the whining of one or two salty little nobodies over the praise and support that greatly exceeds it? Why do their detractors' words have more value than their fans'? The key to survival here or any board is to see the greater whole beyond the shitters.
