It's literally one of the hardest hitting tank spells in the game, even without any talents. The only tank abilities that do more damage, as far as I know, are Deathcoil, Diablo's charge into wall and Lion's fang. And except for Deathcoil it's all by a really small amount.

With the 1 talent it even does more dmg than Sonya's seismic slam. It becomes the hardest hitting tank spell in the game. The only warrior ability that does more is Artanis' twin blades.

It hits as hard as a Frostbolt.

On level 1 with the talent q-> e -> aa until e is up again -> e does over 900 damage. That's more than 50% of health of pretty much anyone that isn't a tank in 6 seconds. 12 seconds of a Tyrael sticking on someone on level 1 is enough to kill most heroes. That is without level 4 and especially 7 which does a lot for his output.

I'm not saying it's assassin dmg but it's incredible good output for a tank that has all this in his base tanky build. A Tyrael sticking on you is certainly threatening. Ontop he's pretty much unpeelable.

Also I did the math wrong, leaving out 2 autoattacks in the 6 scenario, and 4 in the 12s one. He does more than 1000 damage on level 1 in 6 seconds. In 12 seconds he kills every nontank except Uther, Butcher and Azmodan.

With 4 and 7 it becomes even more extreme. Those 12 seconds are then enough to kill Artanis, Dehaka, Sonya, E.T.C. and to bring Arthas, Diablo and Chen to under 100hp.

There's something about HotS that's just so immersive compared against other MOBAs. Maybe it's something about having established characters, or maybe it's just the fantastic sound design. But halfway through a match as the Butcher or Diablo I find myself grumbling and growling like a demon, or when playing Valla or Illidan my mental voice takes on a low, seething tone.
