Long answer: Ouma didn't start thinking the LMAO DESPAIR ruse was necessary until after Amami died/Kaede was executed, so he wasn't acting as evil before that happened. Momota wasn't taking things as seriously as he does later, and Kaede's death actually impacts him a lot as he did look up to her as a leader (though not as much as Saihara did). Maki has been freshly mindhacc'd into an assassin and isn't outed yet, so she's much more distant than she becomes later.

Basically, Shirogane's claiming she brainwashed people willing to play the killing game into people who ended up becoming major threats to her on top of saying they were brainwashed to be so reluctant to kill two motives were needed to start the game.

Needless to say, you should suspect something's off about this especially when she's trying to claim that her words and evidence are more honest than what you and Saihara have actually seen across hours of gameplay and weeks respectively.

Maki says she no longer feels anything when killing, so I doubt she'd make such moral judgments on other killers. Ouma, however, would, so he has a lot of reason to paint her as an uncaring bitch.

But at that point, who knows, Maki could've been planning to murder to get out as she hadn't gotten close to anyone yet, and being outed as the SHSL assassin basically means all eyes will be on her from that point on. She really only starts changing after she's outed.

Gonta's is surprisingly pretty good for such an inexperienced VA (IIRC).
Saihara's is pretty generic/unremarkable.
Tsumugi's is also surprisingly really good.
Shinguji should get a job in singing, his is probably one of the best.
Tenko's voice actor is putting on a voice there so it's hard to judge the actual quality of her real singing. I'm also a love live shitter so I like Sora Tokui no matter what.
Toujo still continues to have the best VA in the cast.
I love Maki's voice a lot. It's very nostalgic.
Hoshi is god-tier, as always.
Kaito could be a pretty decent male idoru.
I'm sorry, I still hate Himiko's voice. Umaru ruined it for me.
I'm not a fan of Angie's.

Speaking of voice actors, I wonder if there was a reason some of the VA's were chosen based on other significant characters they played (like how Sailor Moon's VA was chosen for Peko because of the justice speech).

The only ones I can think of:

Is it ever mentioned why Ouma hates killing so much, to the point where he finds it reprehensible in all situations regardless of context? Of course it'd be easy to say "TDR made him hate murder because he just does" but it's a really out of left field trait for his character. It's jarring that such a defining character trait goes completely unexplained when a lot of other lesser character traits have explanations like, say, Saihara having a backstory for why he wears a hat.

If I had to guess, the fact that this was a test launch would strongly imply Amami's game was a prototype killing game quite similar to the Student Council killings.

It also raises the question of what the other 51 games were about. I think they did use the same formula but it's not out of the question that the previous 51 were actual fiction especially when you consider that Hitler was pretty famous for using films as propaganda and Ouma's comment about a lie deceiving the world becoming reality is pretty much propaganda by another name.

Hell, even V3 itself might just be the government pretending to be copycats to catch the SHSLs that escaped execution by going into hiding. Who really knows at this point?

I actually think the game does hint at what happened to them. Ouma says no one will miss him even if he dies in chapter 1 and he doesn't see his motive video about DICE until chapter 2, and if Saihara asks him about the possibility of his followers coming to save them he brushes it off by saying maybe they're feeling relieved because their boss is gone, even though his motive video says they're his everything.

Once you do away with the HICKSHON nonsense and piece what he said together along with how he chewed Himiko out over her not appreciating Tenko when she was alive, the implication in my opinion is that they're all dead. This might also explain why he never wears his hat and cape in the game itself, because he's not a Supreme Leader any more.

I think Tsumugi's bias colors her version of the truth of the world. She's a huge fan of dangan ronpa that wants to live in the fiction of it against all reason or odds. Of course she'd want the "real" world to be one where everyone is an insane superfan like her that puts on dangan ronpa games all the time and has been for decades. I don't think the entire world is composed of dangan ronpa fans and I don't think the audience that controls Kiibo in the end is as big as she makes them out to be.

I actually find it weird that the illness bit in chapter 5 matches Kaito's condition and this was most likely not planned at all since it caught Shirogane by surprise.

My guess would be something bad did indeed happen to the point people needed the hope that comes from these games that they also call Dangan Ronpa, but as time went on the government used it as a kind of propaganda to quell the masses while also keeping actually gifted people under their thumb, and V2 was the start of a dark era for SHSLs as this was the first killing game that used real students who were deemed to have 'abused' their powers.

Probably what led to it being cancelled was that they hadn't yet perfected the Dangan Ronpa formula of silliness and over the top antics masking a brutal killing game, and V3 was their next attempt.

If anything it seems like his video is made not to motivate him to get out by holding the safety of his gang over his head through making their fate ambiguous, but instead made to mock him by showing exactly what they're doing to them. So Amami survived the last game and was, presumably, released back into the world at large until the next game at an unspecified point in the future, which he is required to participate in.

Why the hell didn't he drop everything and try to get the fuck out of there, contract or not? Considering he didn't I'm inclined to believe he was being forced to stay put under threats of harm to him/his family or he truly wanted to be in the next game.
