It's not so much "the drop rate of material zero is complete ass" (which is true anyway), but the fact it has such a high amount of HP and your friends list is probably weak as dogshit if you even have any active ones left.

Seeing your loadout, while you may think it's good, I'm afraid to tell you that it's a pitiful loadout thatt wont be able to do shit because by default agrani is only weak to fire, so one XH variant is fire, one is ice, and the other is unknown because maint occured rather quickly before I saw any more types. You have no fire element, you have no ice element, so you're basucally fucked on all fronts. Fire you can work around somewhat by getting an avenger for 10 gold weaponoid stones (obtained via ex quest completions and completing weaponoid gaidens). Basically with your loadout, I'd use luther/tenimusou/avenger/facet folia 6 (fun scratch it, it's around strong as elder rebellion 10 if not a bit more) and whatever will fit in the remainder.

You'll be fucked for ice triggers but you can't do much about that, and avenger if you release it will give you ~140-160 fire element, while not ideal, is far better than none at all and will at least let you do an ok amount of damage. If you had obtained arion daggers you could've potentially worked a stronger loadout but that also requires far more investment than you'd care to do.

tl;dr you're not going to get far at this stage in the game without dropping real money on es, so consider it a lost cause.

The only element I can't cover is ice which seems like a problem though and you're right that my friends list is mostly dead. I have a lot of characters on es, I don't actively hunt rainbow stones because I don't actually care (I sold the one sigma weapon I got in the past because I moved from tmgs to daggers), but when I did in the past, it's pretty trivial to just set it on autoattack with a tmg and a few weaponoids with gaidens that activate on hit rather than on just attack. do it on a decent cost quest and press the button to restart it every few minutes until you're out of energy.

Best done while playing games that are actually fun.

If your timing is good you can do Saku0->N3->Gekka to get the quicker mid-air animation on N3, it's pretty precise though.

I switch to the PPC Ring when it's off CD and just use Crit for damage otherwise, I tried the PP Save one but wasn't a big fan. The 6PP you save per Saku0->Gekka only gets you an extra combo every 8th rotation, that's more than you can really do on most bosses burst phases. I plan on making a high slot Aura Katana when the CFs go up, the potential should help a lot with how quickly Katana burns through PP now. 16% dmg, 23% on hit PP, and 30% passive PP recovery is pretty sweet even if the base SAtk is kinda low compared to Gix. The passive PP recovery in particular plays beautifully with PPC, should let you skip out on N3s completely here and there while it's up

You need to max Zero Range Crit, take the points from Showtime Star (not needed, a high PP cap is very unimportant on GU), Dive Roll Shoot (why the fuck would you ever take that?), and one point out of Attack PP Restore (you won't miss a single point there). When lv80 cap comes out you can cap Attack PP Restore again and put the remainder of your points either in Showtime for the faster Gear Gen or RAtk boosts.
For HU sub both Warcry and Massive Hunter are relatively worthless on GU, but since there isn't really much else too great to throw the points into you can really do whatever after capping out the entire Fury tree. Might as well grab Massive Hunter and Automate like you did if you ever want to play RA or something

That's an alright tree, I'd personally max crit in the Gu tree and ditch the point in dive roll shoot, 2 points from showtime star (you can't utilize the additional maximum PP it gives you at all) and one point from PP restorate for it, then max out restorate and dump the remaining points into showtime once level 80 hits next week. You should also consider getting healing guard on the Hu tree. It's nice for not having to stop to drink mates in order to get perfect keeper back after taking small hits, though somewhat redundant if you have a fornis tmg.

How is Aura actually worth it (for katana) when it's basically the same as Astra which is far cheaper to make? You get a tiny bit more damage (almost exactly 1%), less PP regen on normals (24% vs 40%), and slightly more passive PP regen (30%).

There's no real way to make 8s "cheaply" since the upslot itself is at max 0.8^8 on a boost week which is a 17% chance of success and you're burning 100 cubes each time, and that's just the upslot itself. If you're going to make 8s you might as well go all out.

you do realise even the 10% nat regen on austere is very noticeable, right? 30% is a downright massive boost, and it comes coupled with a good amount of on-hit regen too

pure damage charts are a useful tool for considering choices, but you need to consider those are numbers which don't apply on most occasions since they aren't taking into account many important things, and weapons as PP hungry as katanas are a prime example of that. you can only take that chart literally for battles that end after emptying your PP bar a single time, other than that the results are going to be very, very different. and let's be honest, why would you care more about battles that are over in seconds than actual battles?

so if you're saying upslotting an 8s aura and affixing it properly is fucked up? definitely. but if you think there's anything in that list that would beat that at 8s, you're dead wrong. if you're gonna 8s a katana, you go for aura

No wasn't bait. I've personally never actually noticed the 12% regen on Austere at all and I've used one for ages until Astra files came out. Granted Aura's 30% is more than twice as much of a boost.

Obviously, for something like Fo/Te the passive regen would be good since it'd work during charging techs, but my thinking was since you'd have to use a few normals anyway since passive regen is frozen during katana PAs, the difference bewteen 40% on hit-regen and 24% on hit+30% passive would be fairly similar.

in the end you should pick the weapon that fits you the most. because really, I don't think there's many people who will actually go for 8s aura because of the fucking herculean effort of getting both it and all fodders to 8s + getting the right affixes for it, so I wouldn't worry about that particular chapter of min/maxing. if you like astra/gix/whatever, you'll be fine

They are very good but also one of the hardest classes to play properly and one of the most expensive ones to boot. They are all about setting up huge combos with Banishing Arrow and shitting out millions of damage on a bosses' weak point within seconds

If you just start out it will probably be easier to focus on Katanas for now and then buy a second Braver tree for bows when you have some money to throw around. You will need at the very least a BR equipable Orbit weapon, a Divine Raikou bow, and good enough units/affixes to hit 220PP to play Bow Braver properly, which can be a pretty big investment.

220PP is what you need for Banishing into 7 Penetrate Arrows. The next tier that really helps you is 265PP so you can throw out your 3 Chasers on the same PP bar as your Banishing combo, making your burst prep a bit quicker and simpler.
What I did is I just hit exactly 220PP with drink and then stacked Atk afterwards. I run 130/16 on my bow, 160/10 on both my Austere Units, and 130/15 on my Union Legs for exactly 200PP before Large PP Drink. You should also make sure your Orbit and Raikou have a higher PP stat than your main bow so you don't lose PP by switching to them
