You're right, though. The CC is utter ass cancer from what I've seen of it, and this is completely inexcusable after Inquisition - hell, even compared to the original ME trilogy it's garbage. The whole "but there needs to be limited customization so we can generate your dad" excuse they have for it is bullshit too, because A) your dad's appearance is apparently based entirely on the default settings on your preset and B) Fallout 4 had characters whose looks were dependent on how you customized your PC, and they managed more than two fucking sliders per facial feature just fine. It's just lazy and stupid.

For the first time in my life, I might have made a PC that I like more in game than in the CC. She looks more natural than I thought she would. Can someone give me a quick rundown on this franchise? I was a console kid growing up so i never played any of these games but i played KOTOR and Mass effect and shit.

Are they all good or is Inquisition like ME3? Any general advice for starting the franchise?

It was ok for its time mainly because at the time the most recent measure for comparison was NWN2. Yeah it looks a little rough but it was the best looking game of its kind at the time.

The funny thing is though you can see how bioware may have made things look prettier but their overall modeling talent at the core hasn't really improved much. DA:I has characters with the same wonky hands and poses that DA:O had, they just got better at hiding it.

Your class doesn't mean much other than getting some dialogue or having a few unique conversation choices. Skill checks are passed by either having a specific party member or taking a certain inquisition perk. For instance being a mage gives you an option to talk a specific mage into being an agent, but you can get her anyway by taking the secrets perk, or having vivienne in your party when you talk to her.

The guys who did the multiplayer for ME3 worked on it. They were good with gameplay, but you can't let people who never worked on a main game of the series suddenly make one.

Yes, but after DA2 they managed to redeem themselves to a certain extent with DA:I. I'm not saying DAI is the best game in the world, but it certainly isn't the turd that Andromeda apparently is. They realized DA2 was shit and did everything they could to do better. The MEA team knew ME3 had one of the worst received endings in the history of vidya and didn't put any effort into making their game a good experience.

Also most of the shitty writing of DA2 was Gaider's fault and he is gone now. Weekes is the new lead writer and I have much faith in him after the good job he did with Trespasser and the lore of Inquisition as a whole.

Well I think DA2 is a piece of garbage but at the same time it's surprising that they managed to kind of make a full game in 1 year that relatively many people seem to like. Releasing it that fast was not their decision but they sold their soul to the devil and have to live with the consequences.
As for DA:I, it had parts I really like and those were actually the parts where it stopped being its usual self and put you on rails a bit to tell a story. Having a huge open world and interesting quests at the same time is something you should leave to slavs.
