So, in fallout shelter (survival), if your shelter goes =>31 and you start getting deathclaws, but then your population drops down to =<30 will you go back to raiders? I'm thinking of getting our best and brightest all pregnant to unlock all the skill training rooms, then once they're built expelling all the undesirable low-statters... But if it will be perma-deathclaws from there on out it will be the sure death of the vault as there is no way a vault that is 20 adults and 10 children is gonna make it against deathclaws and get built back up.

I've never played NV without hardcore mode. I like it, although it isn't particularly difficult as food is easy to forage, and adds some immersion to the game. Haven't played it in FO4 though; only played 4 at a friends while housesitting.

Ive read in normal mode deathclaws come at 61 dwellers which is more than enough to unlock all skill rooms. In survival they come at 31 which is 14 short of all of the skill training rooms.

Higher END makes them gain more HP per level, the END training room is at 35 dwellers (4 after deathclaws replace raiders). It is optimal to train a newborn dweller to max end then give them a job and then they start gaining experience so they'll have maximum HP. In regular you can pay caps to revive, in survival dead dwellers are dead forever so that HP cushion is important.

So, if I can go over, build rooms, then immediately go under with expulsions that would be the best way to "get ready" for when REALLY have to deal with deathclaws. I didn't get any high END dwellers but I did get high INT dwellers so I'm having to play chug-a-lug with stimpaks in the combat/upgraded rooms.

Okay so I'm late into the fallout franchise and can I just ask what's going on in fallout 3 and 4(but especially 4)

In 3 you're already assigned a character and background, you're not allowed to be your own dude because you're that bullied little shit that's looking for daddy, it just irks me wrong, especially that the story revolves around daddy, not what you make it. Other than that I enjoyed it,being able to nuke nuketown overweighs my complaint, then there's fallout 4, which is just. Well it's not an RPG, in the end you have no choices whatsoever. Fallout 1/2 were narrative based RPGs where you were tasked with saving your friends in a vault, and your mother, aunt, cousin, and fellow tribes men, in Arroyo by finding a water chip/GECK.

Things like exploration were nonexistent, and nothing outside of towns existed as anything but a few randomly generated maps because none of it mattered

Fallout New Vegas is probably the singular more divergent from the other games in the series because its the only one with an actual totally free background

I don't have anything against Curie or Cait by they seem almost like cartoon characters. I wish the game had a Nora companion in vanilla, or more than 3 fucking females in general. I suppose Ada counts as well, but still. The game's a sausage fest for companions.

I looked that up at one point, apparently you have to delete the large piece on the right, place one of the other ceiling sections (one of the wall + ceiling options) where that gap is, then add the piece back so it clips with the newly added piece.

Do you have SexoutPositioning? Some animations are just really fast, others are slower, you might've had a flaky one. With Positioning you can pause the timer and switch positions (it cycles through random positions with the same flags).

I had a similar mindset at first, but it actually adds some interesting dynamics to the game. Something like death-alternate, and you can force enemies you overpower to submit, enslave them or just rob them and let them go. Likewise you could surrender instead of die, get robbed and passed around, then ignored to sneak away to get revenge or convalesce. Especially makes early game interesting, has more consquences to getting into fights.

Nick got a fedora that I modded to give +3 Cha, so in game it's a super nice/fancy hat. His just gave +1 Per or something like that.

Cait got a Railroad Mk. 5 outfit with armor weave from a mod so she can run up and punch people in fights without worrying about getting shot. It has like 100 armor rating or some shit. She already gets all my coolest weapons and stuff I find on a daily basis though.

Piper got all the reporter related items you find in the Jamaica Plains exhibit, like a real Reporter's Pen and the pristine rolled newspaper and stuff. She would love things like that, history of her profession and all that.

I gave Preston a 6 crank musket with a digital rangefinder and all the upgrades. I also gave him the Minuteman General outfit and the hat, I figured he would fanboy out about having it while for me it was just kinda neat.

I took Curie to Fallon's Basement in Diamond City to pick out pretty dresses for her new synth body. She didn't have to worry about fashion in her old body so I figured it would be cute to help her pick out stuff to wear that she thought was cool.

I gave the Mechanist the Silver Shroud armor and hat. Similar with Preston with the minutemen, I figured she would like the comic book memorabilia.

Dead Money was my least favorite DLC ever when I first played through it. I actually put the game down for a while because of it.
But later I started another play through and finally made it back to the DM DLC with dread, only to find that it had become my favorite DLC of all Fallout. With Point Lookout being a close runner up. The intense difficulty, the constant feeling of anxiety and desperation, curiosity for the other characters involved, never knowing when a turn would lead you to certain death. And that's all just before you get inside the Sierra Madre. Once in there, you really start to learn what the Sierra Madre has to offer, and intends to claim.

If can't appreciate the DLC, then man up. If you can enjoy Dark Souls, there's no reason to not enjoy this DLC just because it's a little more challenging and restricting compared to what you're used to in Fallout.

The one that's apparently not going to be here before winter, the one the MO guy dropped MO2 support to build from the base up. Having been spoiled by MO is part of the problem (MO2 simply doesn't function for me) and NMM is slow, the interface is clunky and doesn't let you resize columns but does it automatically for you when you don't want it to, you have to actually overwrite files so if you fuck up you have to clear everything out, and it still has problems downloading and installing some mods. And if it was fixed for real, up until recently there was a "bug" where it literally would not unpack and install files and then say it did.

You clearly know nothing about game development. Gamebryo is nice for modding, it was built around it. And if Bethesda switched off of Gamebryo it would certainly make modding their games much more difficult, unless they put in the time to create the tools to allow for easy modding.

But from a purely technical standpoint in terms of what the engine is capable of for display purposes Gamebryo is fucking terrible. The real shame of that is that Zenimax owns id, and id Tech 6 is a fucking beautiful engine. Just go play Doom and see how incredible it is. And the fact that unlike CryEngine or a lot of other competitors it doesn't take a mountain of a machine to run at max settings and look that great.

Okay, let's take a step back here for a second and realize the point of this conversation is that the game in question, Fallout 4, performs like shit in many areas. This is a well acknowledged issued.

The reason for this is largely due to how the Creation Engine handles lighting & shadows.

The reason why the Creation Engine handles lighting & shadows so poorly is in part because a lot of the lighting & shadows libraries that it uses were taken from Gamebryo, which has always had similar issues.

My point was that if Bethesda had used id Tech as a base, instead of Gamebryo for the Creation Engine (or just straight used id Tech), they wouldn't have had those performance issues with shadows & lighting.

Rage's case was because most of the PC's back then, unless you had a fucking titan, couldn't hold the megatextures right, itech 5 used a newer version of the OpenGL API while consoles with AMD cards back then used outdated ones, only when they patched it the game became stable on AMD cards and processors, and most of this was carmack's fault.

Just finished Nuka World after waiting for mods for about a year.

I quite enjoyed it. Fairly good characters and choices all around, lots of neat backstories and terminal entries scenery was great at times, but it felt awkwardly short. Feels like they got lazy by shoehorning in more radiant quests and settlement shit. Also a peculiar lack of new weapons. Some of the areas also felt lackluster, like the Bloodworm area(I forget its name) where I think I spent 10 minutes as opposed to several hours for the others.

I'm not sure I'm overall happy with how Fo4 turned out as a whole. Fo3 and New Vegas both had 3 and a half expansions whereas Fo4 only had 2, and I'm fairly sure Nuka World is one of the overall smallest ones, although Far Harbor does contend for #1 most expansive. Feeling a bit bitter that they spent so much time on workshop stuff, not all too happy we won't be seeing any new Fallout things for a while.

I liked Nuka World, but now that it's done I don't have much motivation to go back to that area and do anything.

Far Harbor was amazingly atmospheric and really satisfying, I still go to the island just to randomly wander around by myself enjoying the atmosphere, it simply is wonderful.

And the Vault addon is surprisingly satisfying, building a huge complex vault with all the amenities and then being treated to sickeningly saccharine scenes of my vault dwellers happily living their lives, almost makes me legitimately wish I could just ignore the whole world outside and live safe and happy in my underground home.

Ok, so you're Socratically trolling. Well I'm bored so lets go all the way with this.

First off, the SPECIAL system has a lot of overlaps and interconnectivity between the skills and attributes themselves. Since we've gone through and determined that the CHA skills can be derived from INT and PER (mainly as they are about knowing what people want and awareness of their dispositions and needs), the only other aspect of CHA left is the physical one (attractiveness). This only comes up a few times in-game, and there are a lot of physical attributes it could be derived by. STR and END deal with fitness and health, which are factors in attractiveness, and AGI deals with body control and grace.

Speaking of AGI, what about it's skills? Firearms usage and stealth. Firearms usage is really about knowledge of how the item operates, good eyesight, and strength to hold it steadily and manage the recoil. You could argue PER, STR, and INT for managing firearms skills. Stealth is something, but really what is the most important aspect of stealth? Sure having a steady body is important, but situational awareness is paramount to any stealth activities. So really a no-brainer to make it PER-based. Other aspects of AGI can be taken by END (physical fitness and stamina for speed and AP), but what is AGI in general? I suppose at it's most basic, Agility is about mastery and control of your body. This has obvious physical components (fitness of the body), but it also has a mental component: the awareness of one's body and the space it occupies, which is an aspect of Perception. So you could argue that AGI is a derivative of STR, PER, and END.

That leaves us now with SPEIL. Luck can be ignored now as it's the simplification of the innumerable variables in the universe which may or may not affect actions.

Ok, so what about the last four? Can they be derived more? I suppose STR and END do have a lot of overlap (they have overlap on a lot of things in the base game already), so it depends on how abstracted you want to go. The redundancies in those two physical attributes are hard to determine which is the child or parent (if they are either).

If you merged them into one, would having the attributes of Body, Senses, and Intellect be too abstract at this point? The main thing now is PER did take over a lot of stuff, but in a way that makes sense as almost everything is based on our senses; it is the bridge between the physical universe and our intelligence, after all.

What about PER and INT? Can those be combined? Philosophically that's an age-old question, is our intelligence derived from out senses, or are our senses constructs of our intelligence? In any case, if they would be combined to a single "Mind" attribute, it would probably be a bit too abstract to be gameplay functional.

But then philosophically (phi 101 mind you), is the "Body" score even relevent? Cartesian meditation shit, our physocal aspects could be constructs of the mind, so maybe at the very end, the mind is the only score or attribute that matters?

That would unfortunately resume anyway in my case. This person has a personal vendetta over something that happened almost four years ago, and they'd rather blame me than themselves for what happened. They're not the best in terms of long term goals and what's best for the commonwealth, but in terms of their missions in the game and the atmosphere and feeling you get going with them, the railroadcucks sure are a fun faction.

Being a spy and sneaking around the institute, and having a voogeyman that's stronger than you that you have to hide from and fight against and run from and stuff is so much more fun and better gameplay than herp derp storm them or herp derp kill them all.

This is opinion of course. I side with the minutecucks in my main playthrough.

How Power Armor SHOULD have worked in Fallout 4:

1. No light weapons usable while in power armor. This includes all pipe weapons, pistols, and non-military rifles such as hunting rifle and double barrel shotgun.

2. Combat Shotgun, Combat Rifle, and Submachine Gun require an interface mod that is only found on PA-wearing enemies or crafted behind Armorer and Science!

3. Heavy Weapons, such as Minigun, Gauss Rifle, and Flamer are assumed to be dual-use, but are unwieldy without power armor. Tangible disadvantages to non-PA use include extremely unstable aim, light limb damage upon repeated firing, and slowed run speed. Effects are trivialized at higher strength but never negated, and exaggerated at lower strength.

4. PA has weapon mounts that cannot be swapped in the field. One melee, one long arm, one heavy weapon. Torso mods can grant one additional mount, for a total maximum of four, of any of those weapon types.

5. Having Strength close to 11, which PA sets your Strength at, gives synergistic effects while using PA. For example, additional carry weight or reduced action point costs.

6. Undergarments like BoS uniforms, perhaps SPECIFICALLY BoS uniforms, grant all bonuses while in PA, including ballistic weave and a a new mod slot that imparts a legendary style effect. Such mods would be sold by faction vendors, awarded by quests, or drops from named NPCs. No randomness.

7. Fusion Cores should last significantly longer, if not indefinitely. They should last long enough to notice you're at 10% charge remaining, then seek out and complete a radiant quest for your chosen faction that specifically rewards 1-2 fusion cores.

I've played a couple of saves to 80ish and i feel like the scaling stops around 30-50. But what stops me playing a save at that level is that it's a pain to find cells that are stocked with enemies that are even scaled that high. And when you've got full sneak/sneakattack/rifleman...they're fish in a barrel.

So I think scaling and respawning needs to be more responsive. If a radiant is going to send you to a place you have cleared, it should repop with at-level enemies instead of giving you a pat on the back for taking initiative.

I wouldn't say "nothing" was wrong, but I agree that getting it out of the tutorial was a bit extreme. At the very least, make fusion cores non-existent for a long while after that tutorial. I don't think the quantity of is a particular issue though. It's not like you're going to carry around spare pieces for when one gets shot to shit, and by the time you find any T-60 you've probably mingled with BoS already. Ideally the abundance of frames/partial sets would emphasize the rarity of cores.

I think the problem with that would be how to deal with power armor equipped enemies. There's not many of them but you can loot their cores, too. And if you kill BoS then you get tons and tons of them.

Unless you also aim to make even Raider power armored dudes really really hard to kill....which would mean you'd also be godmode when you get your own set.

I've heard people say that Power armor with explosive shielding makes survival mode a joke.

For the rare people who played Tactics. Any tips in general? I'm at the third mission, and still the game baffles me. Am I supposed to level them up using random encounters? Combat doesn't really give you that much experience.

I've played a good 75 hours of Jagged Alliance 2, but the way the hybrid combat of Fallout Tactics works just makes me hate it more. Guess that's why it was one of the less loved entries of the franchise. That and they chose to make a game completely based on combat, which wasn't really a strong point in FO1 and FO2. The only thing I liked is that the game gives you automatic "squadsight" (if one character sees the enemy, they all do).

I don't remember levelling up much from random encounters. Main thing though was my character had high charisma (8+) and intelligence which meant I was promoted more quickly than normal and had more skill points. Higher rank meant I could hire better soldiers sooner than I was supposed to.

Beyond that, ambushing was the most important thing to do in the game as a standup fight doesn't favor the player in the long run.

Hated the beastmen levels. Raiders and techno raiders levels were good, supermutant levels were ok.

I see. Honestly, I don't really like how everything in this game is so slow. I think my main gripe with it is how you have to go around and flank enemy positions, but at the same time, you don't want to take anyone on at a fight, because you'll always get shot before you can kill the guy AND there's a ton of enemies per mission (usually more than 20). Also the real-time battle system is too hectic, and turn-based is too broken. If this game was either one or the other, it would be a lot more enjoyable.

I heard that once you get Big Gunners and a steady flow of Psycho, you can just run up to people and shoot them to shreds.

Well that would mean enemies dropping legendaries that made sense. I can see a supermutant or raider or gunner having stuff, and even maybe a ghoul or two, but when a deathclaw drops a rolling pin it makes no sense.

Fallout 4 does actually have a lot of unique assets/hero elements, moreso than any of the games prior, but modular level design generally discourages the creation of such things.
Witcher 3 did this as well, the amount of unique pieces were fairly low. Again, this is the point of modular level design. Think of it like lego bricks. The idea is to make a brick that can be used in a variety of situations.

So is there a maximum on how many times the Furious legendary can increase the damage ? Does it reset if you miss or hit someone else ?

I'm thinking about getting a Furious flamer and minigun instead of two shot due to amount of times I need to shoot bigger targets.

Used it, pretty strong but I guess it's not my thing. Shooting something and then backing away until it dies not to waste ammo is not the same and setting it on fire and leaving a charred corpse with direct damage. At the moment I'm almost set on freezing on flamer for bonus damage and utility and two shot on minigun for the amount of bullets fired at once BUT I'm curious about other legendaries. I've spent days trying to sort this crap out. Which one of these chucklefucks is causing my game to dramatically lose FPS in settlements?

The game gradually slows until its completely unplayable, and even causes my computer to slow right down after quitting the game (either through the menu or Task Manager).

My character finally started taking drugs and man, I didn't realize how much I missed the old crit system. So hear me out, what do you think about something like this:

Overdrive, better criticals perk and a freezing automatic Institute rifle specked for crit damage - no split damage as both freezing and laser is energy, it's faster firing than the normal laser gun and the beam is fucking blue as ice.

Anything I could add to increase the critical damage more ? Should I swap freezing for lucky ?

I just started using Clarity instead of an ENB for NV but for some reason *some* interiors (not all) are dark and in black and white. Pretty sure I uninstalled all ENB and SweetFX files, and don't have ILO or any weather mod installed.

Anybody know how to go about troubleshooting this? Is this because Clarity is included in my bashed patch?

Onyx ENB is still the way to go for NVTTW, it isn't autistic as Blackout, and it isn't a shit like many others, but it gives the right lightning details to it and it works well with Cinemascope and Dynavison

in cinemascope's case, it gives a old 50's and 60s technicolor camera look with this enb
