If you finish off Crimson Bat, then Demon from Below summons those floating orbs that shoot fireballs at you, while also throwing his own fireballs at you. All of which leave lava pools for you to step in as he also uses melee attacks. That's a lot of shit to dodge.

If you turn your attention to Demon from Below and kill him from full health, then Crimson Bat has the mouth beam attack, and he has to stop whatever he's doing to use it. Only one thing to keep your attention on.

Basically, the equation comes down to, when do you want to experience your pain? In the first phase where you have to deal 150% of the boss's health as damage, or the second phase where you have almost no opportunities to attack the boss?

Most linear RPGs have a story, actual dialogue, etc.
It doesn't work when you are making a game with a barebones story, barely no dialogue and a lot of options out of which you will end up using a few of them.
There are a lot of game that suffer from this.

Seriously, most weapons in DS3 are utter shit I tell you what.

If you want to make a linear RPG then add actual story and character interaction but don't sell us a "le every run is different" game with a few NPCs that add nothing to the story and call it a day.

In just three weeks the first /dsg/ thread tourney is starting. On March 25th, 2pm PST a PC tournament will be held prior the release of The Ringed City DLC.

Participants will be matched up with others who sign-up and fight for the claim to be /dsg/'s champion. The winner and runner-ups will receive prizes including Steam games and being better than everyone else who fought.

-Maximum Soul Level of 125 allowed. Someone with CE open will be monitoring all players to make sure this rule and others aren't broken.
-The starting location will be High Wall, followed by Farron Keep bridge and ending at the Darkmoon Tomb.
-Fights are best of 3
-Each fight is 2 minutes long, the one with the most % health left at the end will win if both are alive.
-Gargoyle Flame Spear, Washing Pole, Throwing Knives, Anri's Straight Sword, Ethereal Oak Shield, Ancient Dragon Greatshield, and Fire Surge are banned.
-Only two Ashen Estus sips per fight, any more and your win will not count, initiating a rematch. Do this twice and you are disqualified
-All Regen items and spells are banned to disincentive passive shittery. This includes Sun Princess Ring, Blessed Weapon, Spells like Bountiful Sunlight, and anything infused with Blessed.
-Normal FC rules still apply such as no healing items. Fight rotation will be determined once brackets are set.

The strenght of the claymore is its speed aswell as overall great moveset.
If you want raw damage on a quality weapon just go for the murakumo.

i've got the plans for a crow talon/quills build. i can aim for SL50+5 is i go for 20/20 on my vig/end, or i can bump it up to SL60+6 with just a few more points

would it be better to lowball it and enjoy fighting incomplete builds or risk going higher for people who actually know how to specialize before they hit 80 or whatever?

Bit late to the party, but in DkS2, is there any point in staying around SL120-125? I know it doesn't matter in matchmaking, but pumping up to 150 and beyond just doesn't feel right. But I also don't want to eventually become super underlevelled for late soul memory tier coop and pvp. Is there SL "meta" in this game between 100-150?

So, I'm nearly done with NG+0 on the character that I intend to get all achievements with (already grinded out all the necessary covenants for rings and spells), and am currently at SL60. Do you guys think I should:

1. Just finish NG and continue on to NG+2 and onward, so that I can have all the +2 rings and +0 versions of all weapons, which I can then turn into a mule for making future characters and/or for the benefit of scumming shit to other /dsg/ players, or

2. Wait until DLC2 drops and complete that with this character so that I can get multiple copies of all the DLC2 weapons/armors

If I take option 1, then I can potentially go into DLC2 on a new character with desired fashion and gear, as well as optimized rings, but I'll only have single copies of the DLC2 weapons to play with. If I take option 2, then I'll be super delayed on future builds but also have multiples of the DLC2 weapons to pass around.

My primary concern is that it ties back into the main mysteries of the setting in some way.

I'm a longtime Souls veteran and PVPer. I've developed strategies for enemies with every type of weapon and loadout.

Except (non-ultra) greatswords. I have never figured out how to consistently beat a greatsword weilder, especially in DS3.

If I try to use a fast sword and dodge their attacks, they simply attack too fast to leave any opening, and have such a wide arc and reach that I can't just out-range them and run in, or try to hide in a hitbox blindspot.

If I try to use a spear and leo ring and trade, they win. They deal more damage and break poise better.

My network is ass, so parries are unreliable.

The only solution is to use a greatswors myself, but then, its still a struggle since my assy network means they take damage like 2 seconds after the attack connects. So a traded attack goes in their favor even if my shot connected first (a problem with any enemy, but greatswords in particular because getting the stagger is so crucial).

How do I deal with this weapon type?

I have the same problems.
I find parries tend to work the "best" but similarly I have shit internet so it's unreliable.
Curved GS running attacks tend to do fairly well, but more often than not I just find myself having to be a super passive shitter and I hate having to fight like that.

GS's got overbuffed by far, they were perfectly fine for the most part before the patch, now they'll shit all over anything with a shorter range without even trying. Swing speed buff was completely unnecessary.

If you're trying to make a pyromancer, make a pyromancer. By that I mean 40 Att, 40/40 Int-Faith. You're not gonna have many choices for weapons but that's the cost you pay for being a caster. Any weapons you can use make "raw" so you get the most out of them. With what you originally suggested, you're trying too hard to spread your points out to have your cake and eating it too. You would have that 40/40 for the damage of pyromancies but not enough Att to warrant ever making too much use of it, you'd be too busy trying to use weapons like any other build only this time you won't have as much str/dex as you like since most of your points went into the int/faith for the pyromancies.

how did fromsoft make the Gwyndolin fight possible? The fight begins with a near-infinite hallway which you can reach the end of, and as soon as the cutscene ends, you're in the non-illusion version of the hallway with the tomb of Gwyn at the other end. I was guessing that there was a hidden loading screen during Gwyndolin's death cutscene, but even if you skip it you're still instantly teleported at the beginning of the non-illusion hallway.

Having PvP'd a ton of a pure pyromancer and faith user, you can shred people with the "easily" dodged spells. It's all about timing. For Pyros, use certain spells to bait people to do certain things, then blast them with your harder hitting shit. Also, in the dlc, there's a bitchin' greatsword called the Onyx Blade which is essentially the best greatsword for pyro's to use. Also don't waste your time infusing weapons with "chaos". You'll get a much higher damage output simply making something Raw and using Carthas Flame on it. And to continue with what I was saying, for pure faith casters, it's a matter of trading hits with the hyper armor weapon art of talismans for slam dunking lightning onto people at point blank range.

You only really need a couple spells for offensive use, at least speaking for PvE. So you'll be able to spare the 1 slot. Where as close range you wanna use Black Flame with a Parting Pyromancy Flame or C.B.Vestiges/Great Chaos Fireball with regular Pyro Flame hand. I can promise you won't ever want to use anything else. As for PvP, Black Snake and Floating Chaos are great "baiting" spells and if you're using G.C. Fireball, practice throwing that without locking on, specifically closer to your character.

The gods don't truly fear humans. In fact, the only real difference between humans and gods are that Gods just have a stronger, prettier soul, and thus have powers over certain regions. The Dark Soul is different from the Lord Soul in an unquantified way. It was once part of the Lord Soul, maybe all the power was taken out and all that was left was the husk that could still grant consciousness to the humans? And the Dark Soul was said to be much smaller and easily forgotten than the Lord Soul, and yet it split into billions of parts, or at least seems able to repair and reform a whole if broken like a liver. It may just be that the difference is that the Dark Soul is much, much weaker and less luminous, and that's also why the Dark is much weaker as a whole than the Demon threat, though it also lasted longer because A) Gwyn never turned his eye to it, and B) Humans continued to exist while beings to be corrupted by Chaos ran out because Lord Souls are scarce.

I think they load them in parts. Kind of like how there are fog walls in co-op preventing you from breaking out of bounds for the designated loading areas so for example the host can't be in an area that would cause the area where the phantom is at to be offloaded from memory. Fromsoft are fairly good at hiding this with tunnels,scale models of future areas that you think are the actual areas, level geometry that prevents you from seeing where the areas that get offloaded are, but sometimes you get glimpse of a pop-in.

I know Maldron is overrated as hell in terms of difficulty goes, but he's fun because he's a mixup of your standard NPC invader and he's actually pretty cleverly scripted, that's why people like him. And TRC looks like it's going to bring back a lot of DS2 stuff so why not?

Sure, in terms of actually being a challenging fight, Bloody Crow of Cainhurst and BP Satsuki are the hardest ones, but they're not within the Dark Souls franchise.

Hmm I think the Dark Soul represents the dark itself. Its incredibly weak because the age of fire shines light on everything. The darkness is extremely weak. Now as the fire dies things like the abyss begin to form and the gods with the lord souls become weaker and weaker.

I'm level 74 and my attunement is only at 13. It feels like I'm close to the end game because I just kill bosses easy and I'm at izalith. So I wanted to try something other than basic melee.

My problem with DS3 is the lack of unique dialogue even when you kill NPCs, she just says the same things for it.

Another issue is that you'd expect people to react to some of the shit going on in the world somehow. This is something that wasn't that much of a thing in DaS 1 or DaS 2, but I loved how in DeS and Bloodborne people actually acknowledge stuff that's going on in the game world, like people start getting more anxious as the phases of the night go on (or become nutty as heck) or reference things happening like St. Urbain coming back to the Nexus, as well as the Old One growling.

No. The gimmick worked really well in Eleum Loyce in my opinion, and to a lower degree the fogginess in some Bloodborne levels / shaded woods also worked really well in terms of instilling atmosphere.
