Let me put something out there. Some kind of heavy-hitting displacing melee hero who's playstyle involves getting right up close is created by the Overwatch team. During in-house play-testing they realize their awesome new hero can't kill jack shit because close-range damage in this game is broken as hell. The team slips the necessary nerfs into the game prior to their new character's release; Nade destroyed, knockback prevention nerfed and a change to a certain pig's ability to one-shot certain models, particularly those with 250 HP.

The hero goes live in a meta sculpted from the ground-up to make him shine, everyone buys a ton of boxes and no-one realizes they're being had.

Just a thought.

You'd have a point if he had no right click and actually had to aim at close range. Genji skills comes from positioning, decision making on when using his abilities and game sense, but he has a kit that makes the requirement of those skills to be rather low, specially his no cooldown vertical mobility.

Other offense heros requires all of that to a higher degree because of their limited kits (at least when compared to Genji's) plus actual aim. Genji is a balanced version of Roadhog: not as much braindead and not as much opressive, plus he has the reset mobility factor with a 1/4 health dmg to non tanks so the kids will delude themselves they are FUCKING INSANE at the game when they get matched against non GM players.

Nope. Too fragile now. Completely negates any use she has from her deals or sleep. The best abilities in the game are completely worthless if you're never around to use them.
She can't win 1v1s even if she sleeps and grenades. Grenade is now worthless offensively unless someone is about to heal. You're better off just shooting 4 times, and in that time literally any DPS will kill you.
And her self heal is worthless now too.

She will be raped by any and all flankers, at best she'll probably sleep them and leave. She can't speed boost out or dash to an ally like the other healers.

She will be out of the meta as soon as this drops, Blizzard and it's cry baby fans will finally get what they want

Keep in mind that Orisa's barrier is has 900hp, lasts 20s and is immediately on a 10s cooldown.
Winston's barrier buff makes it go immediately on cooldown, top that of with a Reinhardt and you'd have barriers for days.

Speedonegro and Healslut have abilities to avoid a fight because their DPS is shit. Ana could combo sleep, grenade, and a couple shots + melee to take out a flanker.
Now she has no hope at all. She will lose every 1v1. All she can do is hope she lands the sleep dart, then hope she can get far enough away in 5 seconds (provided no one wakes them up).

She's gone.

Snipers get a huge buff because of Orisa shooting barriers at sniping locations though.

In a 1v1 situation with a hero jumping you, having a barrier that you can weave in and out of and shoot through while the enemy can't is a big boost. The only exception is if the diver is Winston. But if it's Winston, Widow can duck out and Hanzo can scatter (provided he still has it).

Buffing Sombra and Junkrat is a "Safe change". Most people would agree the heroes need help

Nerfing Ana is also a "Safe change". Most (If not all) would agree shes a broken piece of shit ruining the game

Going too ham with the changes could be juggling too many balls

They'll focus on the rest next patch. Eventually Reinhardt will pay his dues as well.

Her sleep dart isn't guaranteed. For a start it has a long cool down, unlike switching to speed boost, or dashing to an ally. And secondly obviously it can miss. In fact it's quite easy to miss either of the 2 main flankers of the game, Genji and Tracer.
On top of that, previously, if you knew what you were doing, you could combo sleep, grenade, fire and melee to kill a flanker. Now you can't. So even when you DO hit your sleep dart, you just have to run away and hope you get far enough that the flanker can't get you, which they almost always will as they're far more mobile than Ana

Her self heal is only necessary when the other healer can't heal her. If it's not a 1v1 she isn't as vulnerable. But regardless, if your 2nd healer is Lucio or Zen (with Lucio amping) you're looking at ~45hps at best.

She's fragile as a fucking eggshell now dude. She's completely fucked. She can't easily escape 1v1s, and your suggestion of how she might heal through an encounter relies on the situation actually being 2v1 with both healers not healing the team but trying to kill a flanker

Rifle healing is same as it was. The real need is that she's fragile as fuck now. The can only self heal for 50hp which is basically worthless, and it takes her 4 shots to kill a 200hp enemy. Basically means she can't defend herself anymore, and as she has no escape abilities like speed boost or dash, she's fucked 9 times out of 10 unless she lands her sleep and her team deals with it for her.

Here, I made a little graph to help you understand. Now, the people on the left's SR is more dependent on their luck with teammates than their skill, while the people on the right's SR is more dependent on their skill than luck.

As you can see, a larger number people's SR is more dependent on skill than luck. This is because your own skill is a factor, and thus if you're good, you have 5/6 slots available for bad people on your team, while the enemy team has 6.

HOWEVER, luck remains a factor, a tremendous one. And for a sizable portion of the population, luck is more of a determining factor than skill. And for most of the population, though luck isn't the most important factor, it is still a significant one.

Ergo: Getting the right SR is a crapshoot. It's why you'll see great players in silver, and it's why you'll see shit players in diamond. It's why the devs try to have the game take your in-match impact into account to determine how much SR you should win or lose when you win or lose. Yet whether you win or lose SR is still entirely dependent on winning or losing, and winning or losing is largely dependent on not having a retarded team when pitted against good players.
