Here's my story feg:
I finally managed to get sharena to 5* after the Friday feathers, so I finally got a higher stat total (most of my 5* are in the 159-164 range, sharena was quite the upgrade).
I power farmed her to 40 in slightly more than one day.
Today I tackled the arena to increase my score.
Guess what the fuck kept happening? Fucking error 3001 every 2 or 3 games!! I literally won 18 perfect matches (and only lost one in the process) because the game kept voiding my streak because I had to delete xml to circumvent the error, it was NEVER this frequent WHAT THE FUCK
And to add insult to injury I went from the 20'000s... To 10'200th place! Spent 5 dueling crests when I only had to use 2 and I didn't even get to the next feaher tier with my new maximum score. Amazing.

Try using units with lower BST, or even 4 star units to lower your matching score. You dont need to put your best units on defense, as long as you can get that 259 defense score once

In Fates there are situations where being separated and standing next to each other is more useful

In Awakening there is literally no reason for everybody to ever not be paired up (except Olivia)

I'm not really sure who I should upgrade to 5*. I have Kagero, Nowi, male Robin, and Nino all ready. The other units I have to use are two Lyns, two Abels, and Camilla.

Check IV's, but they are all solid options. It depends on what you feel your team needs.

Kagero = fucks up 90% of the cast, but useless against armor and mounted
M.Robin = fucks up reds and colorless (especially Takumi)

Nino = decent by herself, but really shines when you have a team to support her (Eirika, Sharena, a dancer, etc.)

I prefer 7 out of those options because I prefer the tighter structure in FE games.
SS did the open world thing far better that Fates and Awakening did, since those just ended up feeling like grind fests, especially on higher difficulties. Plus they didn't have the story or characters to back it up.
I think people who prefer the Gaiden/SS/Awakening/Fates formula just prefer a more laid-back and comfy experience, which there's nothing wrong with.
