Would it be possible to mod the laser musket so that you not only change the model but also the cranking animation ?

What I mean would be replacing the current junk weapon look with more of a jury rigged sniper laser, with switches instead of a crank. Like, a brotherhood engineer decided to play with the idea of the laser muskets to create sort of a bolt action laser rifle that allows the shooter to regulate the battery consumption depending on the target. Some feral ghoul on the horizon ? Flip one switch and use only a small percentage of the fusion cell charge. Super mutant boss ? Flip all 6 switches to charge up the capacitor and burn through the battery to put him down.

Hey fuckers, help me pick names and legendaries for two T-60 arms. I like how you collect unique parts for the armor by doing Brotherhood quests and it disappoints me that you're left with generic arms (I don't count Tesla armor, that's a separate thing and I don't use energy weapons on this character) so I decided to craft my own. For those that are not familiar, here are the parts available in-game:

>Exemplar's T-60c: chest piece, 10% AP cost reduction in VATS
>Visionary's T-60c: helmet, faster AP refresh speed
>Honor: left leg, same effect as the helmet
>Vengeance: right leg, reflects 10% of melee damage to the attacker

Here's what I'm considering
>Duty: left arm, reduces damage while standing and not moving by 15%
>Commitment: right arm, increases movement speed by 10%

I was aiming for something more interesting than just flat stat bonuses and not doubling effects other pieces already grant.

So I'm trying to download link related. I've installed the bethesda launcher because the bastard who made the mod refused to put it up on the nexus, and I've subscribed to the mod and everything. I've been trying to log in to the 'mods' tab in-game for the past ten hours, but it still just says 'Logging in...'. As someone suggested last thread, I've left it like that overnight but nothing has changed.

My question to you guys is, does anybody else have this mod? Could any of you anons be kind enough to make a download link for it, so I, or anyone else, doesn't have to use the ridiculous bethesda launcher?

Yeah, go to LL, there's some bodies by race thing. Sets it up so each race uses a different body model. Of course, being LL, there's a 99% chance they've only set it up to work with females and you'd have to do the work yourself to make it apply to males. You'll also need to probably make the changes to the models yourself. Have fun with your degeneracy!

Yeah, that one works fine. But I more specifically wanted to have multiple robots from Automatron. I'm trying to do an engineer playthrough where my mechanical servants do most of the combat for me, and I play more of a tactical/support role. It was a playstyle I really enjoyed in NV with RobCo Certified and the follower commands mod, and I'm trying to replicate it in FO4.

I think if you got the RR and Minutemen cooperating you'd be able to do it logically. RR has acess to a lot of prewar locations otherwise unknown to the rest of the world. With enough Minutemen and prewar gear, it's definetely possible to take over the Brotherhood as the Minutemen.

IMO you'd still have to snipe their Vertibirds first though, they make a full on assault impossible (Institute is different because they can just teleport in).

The problem is, why wouldn't these same people be dedicating their skills and resources to helping their fellow men first?

In FO4, the Minutemen are a destroyed organization. It crumbled under its own weight and its members either disbanded or became raiders.

This leaves the Commonwealth raiders unchecked, and outside of Diamond City and Goodneighbor, there's no one to help the common settler.
Logically, the RR's people would do this. They already go around securing locations for settlements and clearing out raiders, why not do this in benefit of people instead of synths? One has to believe it would be an easier, more productive way to help people.

I think it makes sense story wise. The minutemen are historically against tyranny and authoritarians (to a degree). BoS have been attempting to force the Commonwealth to be under their control and are actively trying to kill all ghouls and super mutants as well as force local settlements to give them food. Strong and the all of the non feral, non raider ghouls would be killed if the BoS had their way. It makes complete sense that the minutemen and BoS would clash. I do agree that they would fare much better with the help of the railroad (too bad it's implied Desdemona dislikes the minutemen) and definitely need better gear because literal clothes and worse laser guns aren't going to cut it. I also agree with the sniping of the vertibirds, I would just shell the base from a distance and force the BoS to submit and leave the Commonwealth and missle turrets to make short work of any vertibirds sent to the castle/where ever else the artillery is. The more I think about it, the more I realize that the MM would not be able to completely take them over because they can't run the Prydwen so either forcing them to land it somehow or driving them away would be the only actual option of taking them over. Driving them away would accomplish nothing though because they would take their gear. I just want the MM to actually be able to protect the Commonwealth and BoS gear would help them do that. They don't do anything in-game except guard random locations and die.

I was thinking more along the lines of artillery sniping the Vertibirds off the Prydwen instead of attacking the vessel directly. Could also bomb the airport grounds which would leave only the people inside the Prydwen alive. You could then stroll in with a group of Minutemen and demand they get the airship down and surrender or be destroyed by the artillery fire.

Also, Desdemona is justifiably skeptical of the Minutemen (they did degenerate into a bunch of raiders a few months earlier), but not hostile, like >>170222797 points out, shes got no problem when you use them to destroy the Institute.

Avellone actually commented on this not too logn ago saying that Bethesda has a track record of buying up companies they thing have talent/promise, and yet Bethesda has made no real moves to buy Obsidian, despite the fact Obsidian's CEO said he would be open to being bought in general.

Examples:

We know it happened before the Broken Mask Incident, which was nearly 60 years ago.

And according to the Broken Mask Incident related holotape in The Institute, the BMI happened after the Institute had spent "decades" trying to stay out of the surface affairs after the fall of the CPG.

At the earliest, it was 80ish years ago.

BUT, we know from DiMA that he and Nick Valentine escaped The Institute over 100 years ago, and Nick mentions that at the time he first got out of The Institute, people didn't know too much about synths, but they were still afraid of him because the CPG event was still fresh in everyone's minds.

This places the fall of the CPG at least 100+ years ago.

And we know The Institue had been working with the various reps at the CPG for at least 4 years before it fell.

So we are probably looking at around 105-110 years ago that the CPG fell.

The Minutemen only first showed up 107 years ago, thgier first act being helping to defend Diamond City from the first super mutant horde, placing their formation around the time the CPG fell.

The prydwen is shot out of the sky and all they can do is send a handful of vertibirds to the castle and they get dealt with extremely quickly as long as you have a few rocket turrets. I wouldn't be surprised if there was some hidden Enclave base there, as in our universe the global business elite like to host summits at some exclusive retreats in the Jackson's Hole area. At first I was "meh" on the idea of Yellowstone, but thinking about it it could work if you include the towns around the park, to give some urban areas, and there are BoS factions nearby (Montana) that could appear as well.

That's retarded as shit. Legion doesn't control all of Utah or Colorado, and the White Legs are from the Salt Lake region, not fucking Wyoming. That's the problem when people who just consider flyover country flyover, they have no sense of the scale of those regions. Legion does have a good chunk of the "Four States Commonwealth" for sure, but I seriously doubt they have heavy presence east of the Rio Grande (as there is a chunk of land in eastern NM that can be downright desolate in non-apocalyptic times), and I seriously doubt the Legion is farther north in Colorado than the I-70 corridor, and even then there are probably regions in the high country that are too isolated for them. Even Lanius said that taking Denver was a waste and at the extreme edge of their supply chain.

Right, so the Brotherhood are actually being held at gun point by the Minutemen's artillery and being forced to let the Minutemen in on their ops and tactics.

Honestly I can see it working out, but it wouldn't be pretty. BoS top brass would not be happy with it and likely wouldn't share the details with the lower ranks, probably plotting to take out the Minutemen.
Of course, if done right the Minutemen could make it so the lower ranks get acquainted and become very friendly to Minutemen foot soldiers, thus making the BoS unable to make their own troops turn against the Minutemen.

The option to become a slaver should have been allowed, to put slaves in your raider settlements to harvest the food.

Because the more regions you introduce, the less time you have to put in any one of them.

Which is why game companies moved away from the Fallout 1/2/Tactics style map design, where they had tons of different towns across a huge area, but the game took place over such a huge area all we got were trivial slices of those towns that barely represented even just the high level elements of the town, let alone all the actual detail of the nitty gritty.

-Goodneighbor has survived countless attacks by everything from raiders to Super Mutants, and every single person in the town has spent plenty of thier free time on the walls picking off attackers, meaning, your not getting in.

Thing is that the minutemen are a relatively stable people with a common goal. The raiders, on the other hand, vary from mercenaries who will stab you in the back the very moment a decent amount of money presents its self, to mustache twirling cartoon villains. It's also stated pretty bluntly that Disciples and The Pack are only allied to you because of what you're doing for them. So they can't be expected to work towards whatever the hell you want to accomplish without some strong incentives.

I'm honestly in favor of the idea that you should have been able to raid the commonwealth. I just felt like stepping in when I saw the "You have this so that means they have this" thing.

I wouldn't be surprised if Maxson's Lyons Brotherhood of Steel IS the main "group" nowadays. Their original holdings in the west were overrun in the NCR-Brotherhood war, so most of the "original" Brotherhood of Steel, the ones most into the letter of the Codex, are in small isolated chapters hidden in the west. The Midwest is probably the strongest, but as they have mutants and the like in their ranks, they probably have drifted from the Codex and may not be considered legitimate (atleast not enough to have authority over other chapters).

I think if Maxson's chapter made any commands or demands of other chapters across the country, if it didn't violate the Codex, it would probably have the most authority; just because his name, but also the east coast BoS is a powerful faction in it's own right after knocking out the Enclave. Project Purity and the Citadel are also two really important facilities which give them defacto control over the former nation's capital.

But in general, I think most chapters are autonomous and generally isolated from eachother. I'm not sure how consistent communication is between them all.

To expand on this further.

The Midwestern BoS was as it was due to their situation. Having their airships crashed, and most of their men lost, and finding themselves surrounded on all sides by enemies, the MWBoS was forced to engage on a massive recruitment and expansion drive to drum up men and resources.

This drive led them into a series of battles first with raiders, then beastlords, then super mutants, and then finally the Calculator robots, that took them all the way through Illinois, Missouri, Kansas,a and the eastern part of Colorado, scourging every enemy in their path.

On top of this, smaller, but still sizeable, groups of BoS soldiers were sent though Iowa, and Nebraska, and into south eastern Wyoming.

Other groups were sent all the way up through Wisconsin, to the Wisconsin/upper Michigan border, as well as into Indiana, and lower Michigan, not too far outside Detroit.

By the time they defeated the Calculator, they had an absolutely massive army, and has sourced every state in the Midwest of baddies except the Dakotas and Minnesota.

However, with the defeat of basically every enemy group in the region, this left them with nothing to use their massive military for, which would have led to it eventually collapsing or disintegrating as it is no longer needed.

I would suspect that at this point the MWBoS is nothing but small groups of paladins/scribes going around and protecting towns from what small raider groups still remain, as well as giant critters and the like.

This would explain why they didn't expand westward, deeper into Colorado, into lands that the LEgion controls as of NV.

And it would explain why they didn't expand eastward either, closer to the east coast, and into the region near Pittsburgh that Ashur now controls, explaining why he doesn't even hint at them in The Pitt DLC.

It was just an edited minigun barrel going on a minigun, I didn't really do much else to it.

I'm trying to attach a plasma barrel that works on a gatling laser frame. Something I've never done before. Looking up some tutorials on how to properly do this. I'm also worried that this will make the shit start spinning in -game because the Gatling laser spins, but I think there's a simple node you can delete somewhere to make it not spin, because I deleted something on my Avenger minigun once and the barrel wouldn't spin.

How did Tactics depict the Great Plains? Just finished fart harbor, I hate myself for always chosing the pacifist route and never nuking anybody but I wanted to return Kasumi home. I always say next time im gonna nuke those fucking synths, but It never happens fml. Same thing with Nuka World, I always side wih the disciples and operators because I hate how fucking gay the pack looks. But I never treid the pack route. I wonder if the missions are any different. Even the fucking base game I usually do one thing, Brotherhood of Steel. I hate the minutemen, I hate the institute and I absolutely hate the fucking railroad, so the BoS seems like the only option.

Does anyone know why there is such a difference in quality between different armors and clothing in my game?

I don't have any mods that affect armor, clothing or even textures at all.

Funny enough FO4 has the most crafting in the fallout series especially if you count weapon mods.
As much as a shame it isn't in the game without the need to repair weapons you don't need to stockpile weapons making it redundant locking weapons away through crafting
Suppose technically you can craft weapons via the contraptions dlc
I've been thinking how useless crafting is for me it requires way too many resources for minimal reward, like at the start if the game finding materials for a stimpacks requires alot of effort and by endgame you'll probably be swimming in caps so you can outright buy them or you've already got a stockpile by merely looting them (I don't think this is a problem exclusive to bethesda games but singleplayer games as a whole)

The white fur thing is part of the rebel hoodie. I'm wearing the survivalist gas mask from commonwealth survivalist gear and gloves from gloves of the commonwealth, and the standalone Kellog metal arm piece.

On the back I've got the knapsack and small bag from 'carry those bags'.

And the retexture for camo on the coat itself is the Wasteland Operator retexture. Gives it a nice multicam retexture. I haven't changed the dimensions of the coat itself but I suppose it looks less bulky by comparison with all this other stuff on it.

It seems that you can dismiss them if you alter one part of them in the robot workbench and then tell them to dismiss.

IE take their head armor off, put it back on, then talk to them and they'll dismiss properly.

Damn I like this game but it's held together with duct tape and twine.

I haven't finished it, using JSawyer so it's incredibly slow going. Level 10 is when the quests start, but holy shit that is not a good time to actually start playing it even with the power armor. Didn't help that I didn't tag energy weapons.
It's pretty well written, and the scripted events and shit are impressive. Like, timed encounters in the bunker. Actual spoilers:

Legion is probably the best and I find it more fun to kill Kimball in different ways along with killing NCR officers in Armed for Bear.

NCR has the most quest though and siding with House/Yes Man is 1 degree away from siding with NCR unless you trigger hit squads in Don't Tread on the Bear.

I'd probably side with NCR first so you get back in the saddle since it is the easiest faction in the game.

I've been playing it for ~20 hours now. It's my first time playing survival so I'm enjoying it quite a bit.

As recommended I am using a save mod though (probably more than I should). Also the crafting recipes are a bit overdone, you need a LOT of materials to craft any single item.

Character overhaul mods are all shit. Just get a good skin and face texture, and a decent lighting mod, that goes a long way (I'm surprised how far just the hi-res eye textures go at improving vanilla looks). But the overhauls are always a mess, adding races, changing NPCs up, constant compatibility issues. Not worth it in my opinion.

Seems kind of unfair to include Ghouls, since there's probably a lot of pre-war Ghouls in FO3/NV if you were to include them (although it's hard to tell with some).

The Cabot family was probably just because the dynamic worked best with a full family (oh, yeah, ghoul bodyguard is pre-war, too), and Shaun's an off-shoot of yourself.

I'd say the SS being pre-war is what prompts a lot of the ghouls to reveal they're pre-war more in depth, so that's probably why it's more apparent than previously.

There were a couple in FO3, like Gob's adopted "mother" Carol. I don't know of any in New Vegas, but NV had almost zero Ghouls except for the Jason Bright cult. Besides the entirety of Necropolis, the ones that immediately come to mind are Desmond (Point Lookout), Raul (FNV), and Dean Domino (Dead Money). Like I was saying previously, I work on the assumption that nearly all ghouls are pre-war or the result of the Great War's radiation, that those are the common denominator, rather than the ghouls who managed to turn into ghouls post-war, like Jason Bright and his followers (who I assume to be post-war because they're stupid-as-fuck ghoul if they're pre-war).

Todd Howard's Bethesda makes for the common gamer, and not for the niche CRPG fan. They are shit at writing so they take the existing world and write their stories on top of it.
This doesn't mean FO3 and FO4 have to pander to fans of the older games, or gamers. It doesn't mean Skyrim has to be Morrowind 2.

I could use a little help working on this mod I'm doing, if it's no trouble.

I'm making an edit of the Railroad Armored Coat to remove the gloves, so I can wear whatever gloves I want.

I have a vanilla version working fine and now I'm doing a version that works for Armorsmith Extended.

All I'm doing is going into the AE mod in the GECK and removing the right and left hand slots from the armor, not changing anything else. When I go into the game the outfit works, I can wear all the other items like normal with Armorsmith, but whenever I try to mod the coat at a workbench my game crashes.

Here's the mod if anyone wants to give it a look, I'm not sure what to do at this point.

Just went through all my .inis in the game folder, documents and the MO profile folder and they already have that, thanks though. The weird thing is I just loaded a blank profile I made a while ago and the game loads fine there with no mods loaded. But if I copy my modded profile and disable the mods in that one it still crashes. Maybe I should just restart from that blank one.

One thing I quite liked was how so many of the seemingly unconnected side quests tied into the overall events of the setting. Even if they didn't weave together in a gameplay sense it felt like a cohesive setting where a lot of what you ran into were responses to the larger events of the setting.

Also the companions were massively improved, I never bothered with F3 companions really besides Fawkes for his sheer firepower but the NV companions were all interesting enough to make me work at completing all their storylines and personal quests.

My personal explanation is that Wattz laser weapons were popular out west but weren't very popular on the east coast, hence why they don't show up. Like how Nuka World explained the previous lack of Nuka Victory and Quartz by them being regional brands that weren't (yet) produced nationally.

I actually think it's an interesting bit of respect to New Vegas to have that game's 'signature' drink, Sunset Sarsaparilla, basically be the one soda Nuka Cola couldn't take down, unable to buy them out or sabotage them and their attempt to compete with Nuka Wild for the root beer market was creamed by Sunset. It's not meant to be an actual weapon, it's actually a trap where the player is dodging auto-shunted cars, I'm just using a missile launcher for it because it still looks like trains are traveling down the tracks, just without having to script any physics systems.

It's generally a good idea to do the DLC at the recommended levels anyways. Start one of them and see if it's as unstable. If it is, reload a save before that and just finish the main quest. Maybe go back to an older, less buggy save for the sole purpose of playing the DLC afterwards.

BSA and BA2 archive files are tied to the game by file name, and file name alone, unless you're using Mod Organizer, which lets you load them standalone. It isn't overwriting, it's the textures and meshes being invisible to the game.

There's so much infighting in the fallout community was it like this on the general and /v/ before Fallout 4 came out. I don't get why everyone can't just talk about fallout in general instead of constantly comparing games. None of the games have particularly fucked up lore that much. I mean seriously, going apeshit about bethesda changing the lore of jet on accident. I mean yeah, it was a pretty important aspect of Fallout 2 and all but it was just 1 terminal, probably something written by a lower level designer within their team. It's completely justified to complain about not having RPG mechanics in the game but it really stepped up the gameplay aspect as far as gunplay, and a voiced protaganist was a pretty cool concept on the first or second playthrough
