No. Spear Fighters are well-rounded while Knights are very slow but have high str and def to compensate. Spear Fighters also don't have Armor weakness, and the two have completely different skill sets. You might as well say Fighters are equivalent to Onis.

The only way to fix Knights is to give them equal move to other infantry units, unless you make all other classes have as many quirks as them. Having their own effective damage category and being the only units with 4 move is such a poor design choice.

I think I'm at my limit with this game. Everything is so tedious.

Catching enemies is tedious.
Inventory management is tedious.
Shops are tedious.
The same reinforcements from the same position for 30 turns is tedious.

And it culminates on this map, which feels like an epic war where you're meeting the enemy cavalry head-on in the open battlefield, a big story moment, but I'm not having fun anymore. It feels like a significant step down from Genealogy of the Holy War even though it was released 3 years later.

I hate to ask. Does it get better in the last few chapters? I want to finish it because I'm so close, but I don't want to continue trudging through molasses and hating it.

The endgame maps are pretty fun because you're getting to the point where your staff users can dick the game hard. There's 2 more difficult chapters left (one is optional), other than that you could probably finish the game in a day or two

Tenth Stratum throws up to 5 units, disadvantageous maps, and buffed stats at you, and it's still managable to win without losing a unit there.

Arena will just become a far easier Tenth Stratum, because we'll also finally be able to have more skills, while the maps and stats are much farirer too.

If you can't achieve deathless on Tenth, then yeah you'll have a hard time in arena, but then so will most people too. It'll just make things more competitive if anything, so ranking will matter more.
