this WILL sound gay as fuck but i gotta say this out.

I never played Ace Combat during my childhood and never even know they existed up until a month ago when someone linked the pixy battle in zero on a "post God-tier final bosses" thread on /v/ and because of that i was interested.

i was on a hard decision between either getting the yakuza games that i was saving up for or jump into Ace Combat, but then the opportunity just showed itself when i found on ebay 5 (five) fucking AC games (1,3,4,5 and 0) AND the hori flight-stick all for motherfucking $50. i knew the flight-sticks were worth over $100 so i got it and waited for the package.

i listened to Zero and Unsung war OSTs for days and days waiting for the package. when it arrived i immediately jumped in 0, the game that introduced me to all of this and was stuck on it for a full month before realizing i got other AC games to play. it was fucking mind-blowing and the final boss was exactly as i expected, just pure kino. i'm currently about to start AC5 excited for the SOLG battle.

and all that on-top of it having a general that isn't dipped in autism. its got chill buddies and comfy streams along with actual creativity (Patch guy, AC-Inspired game, open source etc.) and most of all making AC:I actually fun instead of a depressing Micro-transaction RNG-ed game.

Are the PS2 games fully playable on emulators? I've only played 5 and I want to play 4 and Zero before 7 is released, but I can't find any copies of them new or used anywhere in my city

Specs are i5 4460, R9 380X and 8 gb ddr3 if that matters

5 and Zero works very well on hardware mode (mipmapping support still isn't available on the latest stable build last time I checked, so you'll have to grab a dev build but it works well)

4 only works properly in software mode so it's very CPU-heavy and it might slow down when playing in third person or cockpit view. Virtual cockpit works well enough though.

AC5 (and ACZ) works near flawlessly in hardware mode, so at least you'll have something to emulate if AC04 ends up being too slow.

One thing I have yet to understand: how the FUCK is passing over B7R the quickest way towards Avalon Dam? Galm flies there from Valais Air Base, right? And Avalon Dam is in Mund Valley. However, B7R is due south of Sudentor. Now plot that out on the map. It looks like they took a complete goddamn detour before heading there. Even in the in-game briefing, the path is almost L shaped. What's the reasoning?

I mean, maybe the better option would have been to switch Talon of Ruin and The Demon Lord of the Round Table so they aren't zipping back and forth. Talon of Ruin has the Galm Team chasing Hresvelgr from Valais to Waldreich (as you can tell by the castle), then in Demon Lord you're back in Valais, then B7R, and THEN Mund. Instead, the sequence of events should have been:
>X-B0 attacks Valais
>Galm chases them into B7R
>Demon Lord squadron dogfight
>Need to come back to refuel after learning about V2 plans hinted by the squadron
>They deal with the X-B0 while over Waldreich to stop it's rampage
>mid-air refuel after fight
>Missions 17 and 18 happen
This way it makes sense AND has the added benefit of giving an extra chapter to hype up both the X-B0 and V2.

I shouldn't be complaining, but it bothers me that Unsung War gets the most (you)s. Barely any recognition for Zero, Megalith isn't even in the post, and the actual time The Unsung War plays is when I've never been less hyped for a final boss fight when it's such a joke to do and it plays so short. I hate to be THAT guy, buy it really does bother me that AC5 is the most popular and usually only known one. All that comes to mind is "AC5 babby" even though I know that': presumptuous of me. I probably would have been one had my uncle never given me AC4 and I had asked around instead.

Thread synchronization is actually really really hard. I dunno if they'll make you implement anything really hard or not but at my university they make you write a threading library, a memory manager, and a file system/web server type thing in operating systems.
