/tesg/ I have a question. I have a merge for all my armor mods. Some of the mods add to leveled lists, so NPCs are wearing some of the items from the mod.

I wanted to add a new plugin to the merge, so I rebuilt it. But, it seems like some of the FormIDs changed, so now NPCs are naked. Is there a way to prevent it from changing the FormIDs? I'm fine with it changing FormIDs from the original mod, I just want them to be consistent in the merge.

Well time for my yearly attempt at playing modded Skyrim again. Except this time my game magically broke (maybe an update when Skyrim HD came out?), and crashes at the title screen (with Continue, Load, etc.). That being said, I followed Knot's (with a side of Gopher) guide to putting in mods, but I know some of the mods are heavily outdated now, like Realistic Lighting Overhaul, go with Relighting Skyrim or ELFX. Any suggestions?

Also, is it worth swapping over to the HD version? Or is the base + full mods still better?

Has anyone used both ELFX and Relighting Skyrim? I've used ELFX for a long time, but Relighting Skyrim doesn't look half bad. What are the pros and cons?

Relighting Skyrim is realistic because it plants lights at actual light sources, but overall quite boring. ELFX similarly utilizes actual light sources, but places a lot of custom light sources around to balance things and uses a wider range of colors. Some people find the expanded palette to be unrealistic though.

The AI limits are an engine limitation. SE has much more efficient AI processing. Mods can't fix this in Oldrim.

No ENB has a piss filter quite as ugly as SE's.

I commented on literally everything except your mention of AI. Congratulations, you can have a stupid number of actors on screen waggling weapons at each other. Completely doesn't matter. And with memory tweaks we can still do a lot for the number of on-screen actors. I have the entire Populated series and the game doesn't bat an eyelash at it with options like Crash Fixes and ENB.

SSE has literally nothing that makes it worth playing, whereas Skyrim has tons and tons of reasons why it's superior in nearly every way imaginable.

All Real Shelter does is temporarily force an overcast weather type when you go under a roof and add animated rain meshes around the actor during that time. Sure, but if you actually want to convince people, trying to tell them that they're 100% completely wrong about literally everything is not the way to do it. In fact, that's only going to reinforce their beliefs.

How to actually convince people:

The performance benefits of Special Edition are nice, but with tools like ENB, SKSE, and Crash Fixes, a similar level of performance can be easily obtained. SE has a few nice graphical features, but almost all of them can be done with ENB, plus they'll look bettter. The ones that aren't quite as good as Oldrim (rain occlusion and flow-based water) are so small a price to pay that they're not even worth considering. ENB will likely never be as good on Special Edition because Boris quit, so you're stuck with a lot of Special Editions awful visual effects like the piss filter. Beyond all that, Special Edition was pretty much a cash grab because <reasons>.

People like compromise. They like being told that you understand where they're coming from. If you actually care about convincing people, you need to be nice to them. Because antagonizing them and telling them they're dumb is only going to convince them that you're a dick. And then they're going to believe even more strongly that Special Edition is better than Oldrim because this guy keeps sucking Oldrim's cock and bashing Special Edition, he's CLEARLY just a fanboy or whatever.

So, be nice, friend. Especially if you actually care. It'll get you a lot farther if your goal is to stop people from using/buying Special Edition.

Custom races has a Disparity patch already, and to make it compatible with Imperious and race-specific dialogue, you have to have racecompatibility and do some patching in tes5edit. I had to change the race proxy to Imperial and make Imperious a master so I could transfer and copy over the racial changes and perks to my custom race, reference the racial record changes in tes5edit and copy accordingly

I'm not sure, if its on the nexus then I wasn't aware. Its just the vanilla skyrim hairstyles with HDT physics applied, so hair moves and flow properly

Install another hd warpaint replacer over it. WSCO shouldnt affect warpaint from my knowledge, unless you're importing a facegen with low res tints

I'm attempting to recreate er hong's custom UI and by god, is it difficult. Skyrim's shit makes no goddamn sense at all.

I did figure out how he edits the icon in the corner at least - he just pulls apart the BSA of A Matter of Time, picks the one he doesn't use, and changes it in JPEXS. Unfortunately I have NO CLUE how he does the different bars that DON'T shrink.

Nah it seems to be happening with the default faces I've got installed, which for all intents and purposes look fine, though I've also got HD lips and the textures on those look a bit blocky, too. Which is weird as well because face tattoos proper don't seem to have an issue. I'm using the Mature Fair Skin as my texture though if you think you've got an idea. Perhaps I'm using the 2K version..

I was under the impression that an imported head via chargen didn't do anything but import face geo and nothing else, unless you specifically mean the tint maps that my defaults use.

Where is the SKSE.ini?

I'm using the workshop version, but I'll assume the files are still in the same place.
I found and SKSE text file in my my games/skyrim directory which has the skyrim .ini in it, but the only thing that file seems to have looks like load-in logging.

I'm running into a lot of issues where the game crashes at points in quests that I want to play and I can't identify the reason of it.

Is it time to nuke everything and start over with a new MO profile or nah?

Apocalypse magic, Thunderchild, Wintermyst, Imperious and of course Ordinator are a must have mods for me. Sacrosanct is a neat spell add-on for Better Vampires and Edda is a good misc mod. His quest mods are hit and miss and Wildcat is useless, sure. Never tried Aurora.

All in all his mods are pretty good despite him throwing a bitch fit every other day.

Turns out that those stupid arrows on the end of your health bar? They determine where the actual BAR ENDS if you edit it.

Skyrim is dumb, but I got half the HUD setup. Now I just need to figure out how everything else works and I'm good to go.
