Tried out the HellGround test server the other day, wanted to check some simple stuff like pet pathing etc.

So Hunter pets are tiny. Tamed a level 10 boar and it was as small as a fucking non-combat pet. Tamed a few other pets in the barrens and they all stay tiny.

Put pet on defensive, attack a target, 9/10 times the pet won't bother to attack. You have to manually use "Pet Attack". Not too big a deal, but combined with tiny pets no way Hunter is worth playing. My guess is that Warlock pets will require manual attack commands as well, but I didn't test this.

Loot tables seem iffy. Killed maybe 30 mobs in Durotar to see if they even drop anything, got the same white cloak 10 times in a row. Can't comment on Outlands trash drops.

Some trouble with mounting. Can't go on your mount on a Zeppelin, can't go on your mount at the top of the Zeppelin platform "Can't use that here!"

4 Horsemen isn't hard because of mechanics. It's hard because of the fact you need 8 fully geared tanks. Once you have that the fight is a cakewalk.

Warlock was the first class I ever rolled, I love them.

Never played a hunter to cap, but I've played them and enjoyed them.

Only reason I didn't play a shaman on retail was by the time I was playing other classes, shamans didn't even really have totems anymore.

So yeah. locks and (prot)warriors are my two favourite classes. I even levelled a prot warrior to cap on nost.

We're rolling horde, so no +mace from humans, which means LH is better than the mace (assuming not strictly going pvp). Regardless, I find the khor to produce more dps based on stats and topend difference between the 2 swords (LH-T1 vs Khor). LH-T2 does have the +str buff, but only for 10s, where as khor gives an extra 20 str and lasts 20s longer. Downsides were the swing timers, but that's moot given the dmg it'll produce. I would say the LH is a better long term investment, since it can be upgraded again, but iirc by that time you get to T3, and raid replacement has already dropped.

Also, EJ has stated that using R1 SoC saves you 55% more mana, and only chops off ~<11% in dps instead of using R6 SoC. So, speed doesn't fully matter this early on, vs saving mana. I also only assumed the pattern dropped to begin with, if not you're forced to take LH, and if you want to jew it out and not be preraid bis, the polearm.

Mana has nothing to do with this, you want a slow weapon because SoC is 7PPM, So if your weapon is really slow, SoC has a higher percentage to proc each swing, plus it will also do more damage because the weapon is slower and SoC isn't normalised.
