This is lame as shit. My only fun in OW is comp because I prefer "serous" game modes were people try to win and not fuck around. I play lots of games and often I only get a few games of OW in a week but now it feels like work just to stop SR decay. I quit playing CSGO to play OW back when OW comp came out but after this I think I'm going to stop caring about OW comp and go back to CSGO because they don't require weekly time investment.

Placements are not all the same.

MMR is soft reset, not hard reset, so your placement this season will be affected by your end rank last season.

Not all winrates are equal because you're not getting the same teammates or enemies every time. There's a big difference in going 9-0 in 9 games you're expected to win compared to 9 games you're expected to lose, for example.

Also, after your placements, you are placed a couple hundred points below your real MMR.

Except you don't. Yes, people are more likely to climb properly. But a massive number of people still won't climb despite their skill.

Let's take the coin flip you gave as an example. It's 50/50. Imagine you change the chance to 60% heads 40% tails. Now, get 1000 people to flip the coin 100 times each. Yes, the result will tend towards 60% heads and 40% tails. But if you think everyone will have that result, you don't understand statistics. You'll have a bunch of people with 75% heads and 25% tails. You'll also have a bunch with 40% heads and 60% tails.

Basically, you can't take the average and claim that it's going to be the experience for everyone. That's idiotic. And though the fact that it does take your own skill into account makes it better than a random system and that there won't be a perfect system, any system which is supposed to measure skill where a sizable portion of the population's rank is determined less by their skill than their luck is flawed.

I was one of the sheeps who went in the bandwagon, but after playing with and against him, it's not really insuferable. Bastion by himself is an easy target because big hit box and zero mobility.

He needs several people willing to play around him so he can destroy everything, only in that scenario he is annoying, and that's because there won't be an hero that you can counter him solo against him and his team and if some of your teammates aren't willing to do a bastion teamcomp or a dive teamcomp (which he is very vulnerable to) it's pretty much gg, either that or your teammates will change but they're monkeys who have at best a hero pool of 3 so they won't be competent.

On the bright side you can lock Bastion to try and subtly persuade your teammates to build a team around you when there is the instalock memepickers in your team, sometimes it works.

A system which takes actions into account would be a good start. The guy who gets 4 gold medals on his team after losing clearly shouldn't be taking as much of a SR loss as the rest of the team. And it's not just medals, of course. All actions, like freezing enemies as Mei, blocking damage as Reinhardt, etc.

But designing such a system would take time, and the devs would rather just take the dumbass Elo system and stick to it, as proven by Riot Games who'd have an even easier time designing a better solo ranked system yet stick to Elo.

well yea that's already the case. that's how i climbed with <50% winrate from 3900 to 4200 SR because i gained a lot more points for wins than i lost in losses

solo players can climb ranks consistently even in games where individual performance has no impact on points gained/lost like dota 2
